A Tribute to a Statesman and Mentor: Happy Birthday, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, CON.

Today we celebrate the 63rd birthday of an iconic leader and father figure, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, CON. Born on June 1st, 1964, his life has been a gift of selfless service to the nation. Despite his royal lineage, his early life was shaped by humility and strong values. The loss of his father early in life only strengthened his resolve, molding him into a principled man supported by a loving family.

His extensive leadership journey between 1989 and 2006 paved the way for his national impact:

Chairman, Non-Academic Staff Union, College of Education, Gindiri (1989–1994)Chairman,

Senior Staff Welfare Committee (1990–1993)

Chairman, Joint Academic & Non-Academic Staff Union of Plateau State Tertiary Institutions (1992–1994)

President, Civil Engineering Students Association, Kaduna Polytechnic Branch (1994–1995)

Director of Organization, Gamji Memorial Club, Kaduna Polytechnic (1994–1995)

Chairman, Non-Academic Staff Union, Plateau State Council (1999–2002)

Executive Secretary, Plateau State Pilgrims Welfare Board (2005–2006).

Since entering the House of Representatives in 2007, he has achieved five consecutive terms in office. His milestones include representing Nigeria at the UN General Assembly in 2016, working as Deputy House Leader (2018–2019), and earning a unanimous 358-vote election as Deputy Speaker in 2019.

In 2022, his dedication was capped with the national honor of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON). Rt. Hon. Wase is a detribalized leader who stands for justice and equality. His legacy is defined by human capital development, people-first legislation, and boundless philanthropy. May Allah continue to guide, protect, and bless him with long life and pristine wisdom.

Long before Governor Caleb Mutfwang joined APC, there has been a long standing relationship between him and Hon Ahmed Idris Wase, that relationship transcends the boundaries of politics and religion, it stands on the foundation of trust, respect and partnership for the common good of the people of Plateau State.

You may recalled in July of 2024, Gov. Mutfwang joined Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase on a visit to Federal Ministry of Health, to finalize touches for the complete take up and operationalization of the National Orthopedic Hospital Jos, an institution established through the legislative prowess and footprint of Hon. Maje, the relationship, since then continues to wax stronger, the defection of the governor to APC in January this year only further cemented a partnership already built on trust, mutual respect and commitment to engender progressive leadership to the people of Plateau State.

The appointment of Hon. Maje by Governor Caleb Mutfwang to head the community that formally welcomed him to the APC early this year was not in any way by accident, it was an affirmation of confidence and quest to build strategic partnership and collaboration with the people that meant well for the state.

Similarly, the subsequent appointment of Hon. Maje as Plateau State Amirul Hajj for 2026 by the governor was also a pointer to the respect our principal's commands.

Therefore, as we stand on the threshold of another history, we cannot be indifferent about the governorship primary election slated for today.

The position of Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase is very clear, Governor Caleb Mutfwang is our choice and the choice of every Plateau indigene craving for development and productive leadership.

To this end, Wase Federal Constituency stands fully with the governor and will deliver a vote to him that has never been seen in recent history.

Let the journey continue, with the man whose experience cannot be misconstrued, and whose vision for the progress of Plateau State is unwavering.
