KOINONIA DIVINE INITIATIVE COMMEMORATES INTERNATIONAL WATER DAY 2026– Bringing Clean Water to Communities! 💧🌍
In observance of International Water Day 2026, with its theme: Water Access and Gender Equality, an annual and global celebration observed on 22nd March, the Koinonia Divine Initiative (KDI) Jos, in collaboration with Relentless Foundation International (RFI) and Relentless Football Academy (RFA), has undertaken efforts for three consecutive years to supply free water. Three communities within Jos North Local Government Area, benefited from this year's intervention. Communities such as Congo Russia, Hwollaza, and Anguwu Abuja in Tudun Wada.
At Congo Russia, the organisation’s Chief Executive Officer, Pastor Isaiah Lengmang , accompanied by staff and volunteers, was graciously received by the community leader, who expressed profound gratitude for the organisation’s support, particularly during the Sallah festivities.
Similarly, in Hwollaza community, the KDI team was welcomed by Mr Joseph, a community youth leader. Mr Joseph appreciated KDI’s outreach initiatives and encouraged other organisations to emulate their efforts. He also appealed to the government to establish a permanent solution to the persistent water shortages within his community. The residents conveyed their appreciation to KDI for their initiative.
In Anguwu Abuja in Tudun Wada, the final community visited by the team, the response was equally overwhelming. Anticipating the team’s arrival, residents had already prepared their wares, expressing sincere gratitude for the intervention, especially as water scarcity remains a significant challenge in Tudun Wada, where water vendors are often few and expensive. Women and children rejoiced as the intervention provided much-needed relief.
The CEO of KDI underscored the vital importance of access to clean and safe water, emphasising it as a fundamental human right. He stated that this initiative not only provides immediate relief but also aims to promote awareness of sustainable water management and equitable access for all, particularly given the struggles faced by many communities with water shortages. He further calls on the government to implement a permanent solution to the severe water scarcity in the city of Jos.
More than 400 people benefited from this intervention. Seeing the smiles and relief on the faces of these communities, reaffirmed the need for ongoing efforts to ensure that no one is left behind in the fight for water accessibility. Together, we can make a difference!
