COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF A MEETING WITH AIDES, POLITICAL ASSOCIATES, AND SUPPORTERS OF RT. HON. SALEH SHEHU YIPMONG
A special meeting was convened on December 28, 2025, in Dengi, at the residence of Rt. Hon. Saleh Shehu Yipmong, former Deputy Speaker of the 8th and 9th Plateau State Assembly, with his aides, political associates, and supporters. The meeting focused on the defection of Governor Caleb Manaseh Mutfwang to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Rt. Hon. Yipmong explained the reasons behind the defection of the Governor from the PDP to the APC which is due to the various factions that weakens the fabric of the party's unity and the constant call of the President of the Federal Republic, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the Governor to join the APC.
He further highlighted the Governor's commitments and interventions in Kanam LGA, emphasizing the need to support him for continued progress. After discussions, the meeting resolved:
1. Governor Mutfwang's projects in Kanam LGA, including roads, healthcare, and social amenities, are unprecedented and commendable.
2. The Governor has appointed several Kanam indigenes to key positions, demonstrating his commitment to inclusive governance and empowerment.
3. The Governor's vision for Plateau's future requires collective effort; aligning with his agenda is crucial for Kanam LGA's gains.
4. Yipmong's political family, aides, supporters, and well-wishers will join the APC to benefit from good governance under Governor Mutfwang's leadership.
5. Members will revalidate their APC membership cards after the Governor's process is complete.
Rt. Hon. Yipmong appreciated the massive turnout, urged prayers for leaders, and described the defection as a "masterstroke of God's plan." He reaffirmed his commitment to Governor Mutfwang and the APC.
In a closing remark, Yipmong commended Kanam's political leader, Chief Ephraim Usman, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and pledged continued support for the party's unity and progress.
Recall; Yipmong storm Kanam Local Government Area for a four days festive season engagement from 26th to 30th of December, 2025 to grace various Community Development Association annual day celebrations donating lots of cash, graces several weddings and also embark on condolences to sympathies with those that lost their loved ones. This underscore Yipmongs commitment to welfare and commitment to his people.
