PLATEAU STATE COORDINATOR SOLICITS SUPPORT FROM NUJ.

The Plateau State Coordinator Mrs Ikupolati Esther Tosin along with Management Staff paid a courtesy visit on the Plateau State National Union of Journalist Chairman Mrs Ayuku Pwaspo.

Mrs Ikupolati congratulated her on being the first female in the State to be elected as the Chairman of the Union and equally appreciated her role as the Deputy Director programs at the Plateau Radio and Television Station in the coverage and reportage of the National Youth Service Corps activities especially the Swearing in and Closing Ceremonies during Orientation programmes.

The NYSC Plateau State Coordinator informed the Chairman that the National Union of Journalist is considered by the NYSC Management as our biggest stakeholder amongst others and the visit was to ensure the cordial relationship between both organisations is maintained and sustained for better projection of the Schemes activities in the State.

Responding,the NUJ Chairman Mrs Ayuku Pwaspo appreciated the State Coordinator for the visit and equally informed her, that this was the first time an NYSC State Coordinator will visit the Union,she also expressed her delight at the fact that it was a female Coordinator that will set this record.

She expressed her willingness to build up on the relationship already established between the media and the Scheme and equally pledged her full support to ensuring adequate coverage of NYSC activities both as Deputy Director programmes PRTV and as the Chairman of Plateau State National Union of Journalist.

STATE COORDINATOR NYSC PLATEAU, BRIEFS CORPS MEMBERS PRIOR TO INDUCTION CEREMONY.

The State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, Plateau State,Mrs Esther, Oluwatosin, Ikupolati has briefed Prospective Corps Members of the 2023 Batch 'C'Stream II deployed to the State for their National Assignment.

The highly informative program which took place at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp, WAYE Foundation, Doi-Du District of Jos South,was necessitated by the need to acquaint Prospective Corps Members of the rudiments of the Scheme as, they commence the Orientation Exercise properly.

Mrs Ikupolati noted that the Orientation Course was laced with several interesting and educative activities designed to prepare them physically and psychologically for the challenges ahead of the service year and beyond.

She informed them, that the Camp was a regimented environment which demands discipline hence,all camp rules and regulations must be adhered to as well as, activities attended promptly.

She further stated that the Scheme has set modalities to sanction Corps Members who flouts the rules up in the NYSC Acts and Bye -Laws.

The Coordinator advised the Prospective Corps Members to avail themselves of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program (SAED) which is at no cost on Camp, to learn Skills for self reliance and personal development.

Several welfare packages available for Corps Members were also enumerated, including the free healthcare services overseen by the National Health Insurance Agency.

Speaking further,She appealed to the Prospective Corps Members to shun drug abuse and other illicit activities capable of destroying their lives.

She implored the Prospective Corps Members who have health challenges to speak out and not participate in strenuous activities that are detrimental to their health.

Highlights of the program was the introduction of principal camp officials, bugle sounds and inauguration of Corps Camp Directors for the 2023 Batch 'C'Stream II Orientation Camp.

PLATEAU COORDINATOR FLAGS OFF LECTURE SERIES : CHARGES CORPS MEMBERS TO BE DILIGENT*

The State Coordinator NYSC Plateau Mrs Esther Tosin Ikupolati charged Corp Members to be deligent , disciplined, and be attentive during lectures. According to her, there is much to be learnt and acquired with the series of lectures packaged which will equip them for life during and after their service year.

The State Coordinator, who was represented by the camp Director for the 2023 Batch C Stream II orientation course, Mr Sunday Oble further urged them to take advantage of lectures and all activities on camp as this will form part of their life experiences during the service year.

He equally urged the Corps Members to be positive in their approach to life as he officially flagged off the 2023 Batch C stream II lecture series at the NYSC temporary Orientation Camp WAYE Foundation Doi-Du, Jos South LGA of Plateau State.

The Security lecture was delivered by Mr Solomon Ebi from Conflict Security and Development Consult Limited (CSDCL) Abuja. He admonished Corps Members to be security conscious and remain alive despite the security challenges in the country.

He lamented that the security situation in the country is deteriorating and becoming challenging to everyone. He therefore adviced the corps members to make concerted efforts to take responsibility for their safety.

He highlighted the safety guidelines while traveling and during the service year and measures to remedy them.

The traditional lectures was delivered by Mr Selnan Domnan Seldom who took them through the historical background of the customs and traditions of the people of Plateau State

He urged them to respect the traditions of their host communities and be sensitive to security concerns especially when embarking on journey.

*'TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEALTH* *' - SC* *TO CAMP OFFICIALS*

The State Coordinator, NYSC Plateau, Mrs. Esther Tosin Ikupolati, has admonished camp officials to take very good care of their health, as it is key to their success because, health is wealth.

She gave this admonition during the pre-camp meeting of all camp officials for the 2023 Batch 'C' Stream II Orientation Course at the Multipurpose Hall of NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp, WAYE Foundation, Doi-Du, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

While stressing on the gap between stream I and II as being very close, she noted that, it has become expedient for camp officials to strategically work with a sense of purpose and due deligence to reduce being stressed up.

The State Coordinator, while thanking God for a successful 2023 Batch 'C' Stream I, prayed for synergy and collaboration among all officials,stressing that the success of one is a success of all.

She called on officers to be humane to Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) because first impression matters a lot.

She charged camp officials to ."Be proud of your uniform", and emphasized the need to be properly dressed for easy identification and proper monitoring,to ensure security and safety of all.

While anticipating harmonious working relationship among all Camp officials, the Camp Director, Mr. Sunday Oble, thanked God for the privilege to serve in the capacity of Camp Director and called on camp officials to be involved in every camp activity, because the camp belongs to all of us.

He charged them to put in their best in every aspect so as to have a successful orientation programme

The Camp Commandant, Maj A M Mairuwa stated that camp officials are leaders and role models. "We are here to form leaders of tomorrow, we must work hard to add positive values in the lives of PCMs and adequately prepare them for the daunting task of nation building ", Hence, we should not be found wanting in behaviours that demean the leadership positions entrusted to us, he emphasized.

The meeting also features prayers for a successful orientation course; comments by various heads of assignments, all geared towards a hitch free orientation programme.

PLATEAU CORPS MEMBERS TASKED TO REPRESENT THE SCHEME AND FAMILIES CREDITABLY AT ALL TIMES.

The State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, Plateau State, Mrs Esther, Tosin Ikupolati,has tasked the 2023 Batch 'C'Stream I Corps Members to consciously strive to represent Scheme and families creditably at all times through exemplary conduct and behavior shown on camp.

She gave the charge in an address while presiding over the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch 'C'Stream I Orientation Exercise,at the NYSC Temporary Camp,WAYE Foundation, Doi-Du, Jos South.

Mrs Ikupolati who expressed delight at the level of patriotism, discipline and commitment displayed by the Corps Members despite the regimented nature of the Course, stated that the various trainings and activities were designed to adequately induct them into the programs of the Scheme and enable them tackle challenges ahead of the service year and beyond.

The Coordinator asserted that the end of the Orientation Course ushers Corps Members into the second phase of service year which requires diligence, she said "my dear gentlemen Corps Members, every end,has a new beginning and as such, today marks the end of the orientation course but, definitely ushers you into the second phase of the service year called the primary assignment".

She further called on the Corps Members to implement the lessons learnt for the benefit of their host communities." I encourage you to apply all that you have learnt in the course of the orientation programme and judiciously strive to make positive impact in the lives of Members of your host communities through the community development service (CDS).

Mrs Ikupolati implored the Corps Members to respect the customs,norms and tradition of the people for the desired national integration, unity and development. She also advised them to shun all forms of negative vices.

The Plateau State NYSC Coordinator also, conveyed a heartfelt gratitude to Corps Employers in the public and private sectors, who have continued to assist the Scheme to achieve its goal by instilling in the Corps Members the tradition of industry at work.

She further appealed to them to remain relentless in the pursuit of ensuring Corps Members' welfare and security in order to enable them offer quality services in the quest to contributing their quota to Nation building.

The 2023 Batch 'C'Stream I Corps Camp Directors, Who had served diligently in the course of the orientation exercise,were also honored and issued Coordinator's commendation letters.

COORDINATOR BIDS FAREWELL TO 747 CORPS MEMBERS IN PLATEAU.

The State Coordinator, NYSC Plateau, Mrs. Daniel Rifkatu Yakubu has despatched 747 Corps Members of the 2022 Batch "A" Stream I service year who have served meriteriously in Plateau State for the one year mandatory national service.

The Passing - out ceremony which was observed at low-key nation wide witnessed the distribution of Certificate of National Service (CNS) to deserving Corps Members at Local Government level.

At a brief ceremony to formally declare the service year closed at Barkin - Ladi LGA, The Coordinator on behalf of the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong and the peace loving people of Plateau State as well as the Director-General, NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, management and staff heartily congratulated the out-going Corps Members on the successful completion of national service and bade them farewell.

While commending their judicious use of the Community Development Service (CDS) programme to execute laudable projects to the socio-economic development of their host State, She specifically acknowledged, Corps Members, Alabi Olabode PL/22A/0753, Mohammed Afrah Jamal PL/22A/0052, Owoeye Oluwatobi Precious PL/22A/1059 and Abiah Iberedem Hope PL/22A/0565 for outstanding performances in their host communities.

She also enjoined them to uphold the ideals of the Scheme and maximally utilise the experiences gained during the service year especially the SAED programme to be used as a yardstick to forge ahead also, condemning all forms of negative vices and promoting peace and unity.

The Local Government Inspector (LGI) Barkin - Ladi, Mrs. Rachael Macaulay intimated management of the collective efforts of the Corps Members in group CDS projects with an instance of the donation of uniforms and stationery to LEA Rahwol Gassa, Barkin - Ladi LGA. The Monitoring Officer, Mr. Haruna Habib, Mr. Sunday Oble (AD, PRS), Mr. Bulus Rimamsikwe (AD, SAED), Mr. Joel Jabani Mambula (AD, HRM) witnessed the ceremony.

DA GWOM RANTYA CONFERS TITLE ON CORPS MEMBER.

The District Head, Rantya (Da Gwom Rantya) Da Pam Gyang Pwol has conferred an honorary title of Gwom Sele Rantya on Corps Member, Alabi Olabode PL /22A/0753 - Chief Philanthropist of Rantya for contributing immensely to the growth and development of Rantya community, the State, nation and by extension, humanity at large.

Da Gwom Rantya also on behalf of the Rantya Traditional Council, issued Corps Member Alabi Olabode a certificate of excellence in recognition of the enormous achievement recorded in the renovation of Primary Health Centre (PHC) Rantya and distribution of learning materials to LEA Barkin Acha and Calvary schools, Rantya, describing the projects as basic amenities of life - health and education which are felt needs of the community.

The honorary title was conferred at a brief ceremony held at the residence of the Da Gwom Rantya ( Gidan Sarki) Kangang, Jos South LGA as the District Head expressed excessive joy, spelling out the values of the Berom culture especially the peaceful nature of the Rantya community which is his jurisdiction and the rationale behind the conferment of an honorary chieftancy title on Corps Member, Alabi Olabode for sacrifice and selfless service to humanity.

During prayers and decoration of Gwom Sele Rantya - Corps Member, Alabi Olabode, Da Gwom Rantya explained in details the meaning and functions of the regalia, which is the traditional attire of a Berom chief. The walking stick for mantle of power, The muffler, cap, beads with red and green colours, for decoration and identity - the green colour representing the cactus plant - symbol of protection as the Berom people used the plant as a fence while the red colour is a red leaf repressing a defendant warrior.

In a goodwill message, The State Coordinator, NYSC Plateau, Mrs. Daniel Rifkatu Yakubu on behalf of the Director General, NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, management, staff and Corps Members expressed sincere gratitude for the honour given to NYSC through Corps Member, Alabi Olabode in recognition of Community Development Service (CDS) projects.

The Coordinator said, the Corps Member has demonstrated the essence of the Scheme for national intergration, development and unity, while, assuring Rantya community of sustained and greater partnership, she called on other Corps Members to emulate the exemplary conduct of Corps Members Alabi Olabode to impact positively on host communities.

The Local Government Inspector, Jos South LGA, Mr. Habila Dafo rendered a vote of thanks to the District Head and the Rantya Traditional Council for the exhibition of genuine collaboration and reward for exceptional performance whilst, in an acceptance
speech, the Gwom Sele Rantya - Corps Member, Alabi Olabode expressed profound gratitude for the honour and promised to always come back home especially to kick start his future journey on humanitarian operations at Rantya District.

LALONG ASSURES CORPS MEMBERS OF SAFETY AND GREATER PARTNERSHIP.

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong has assured the 2023 Batch "A" Stream I Corps Members deployed to Plateau State of the priority attention Government places on the safety of it's citizenry especially, the welfare and general well-being of Corps Members,highly guaranteed.

The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Daniel Dung gave the assurance at the formal opening/Swearing-in ceremony held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Mangu Mangu LGA while,warmly welcoming them to the home of peace and tourism, well endowed with beautiful scenic environment and weather, He also reassured of greater partnership and a conducive working atmosphere.

He implored the Corps Members to maintain discipline, comply with the camp rules and regulations as well as shun all forms of negative vices capable of truncating their future and denting their image and that of the Scheme, Institutions of study, families and the Nigerian youth.

Further caution was rendered to the Corps Members as His Excellency adviced on security consciousness, credible electoral process and applauded the the resilience of the NYSC management and Stakeholders in youth empowerment towards national intergration, unity and development.

Earlier in an introductory remarks, the State Coordinator, NYSC Plateau, Mrs. Daniel Rifkatu Yakubu revealed camp situation report and rendered information on the cardinal programmes and the expectations of the Corps Members on discipline and compliance to tutelage.

The Chief Judge of Plateau State, Hon. Justice David Mann was represented by Justice Elizabeth Angai who administered the Oath of Allegiance on Corps Members and disclosed the consequences of the
public declaration of an Oath counselling them to be law abiding and patriotic citizens.

The Man O' war special squad thrilled the audience with a tug of war contest.
