AMAONYE READY FOR PROGRESS AND BACKS GREENFIELD METALS LTD,. Dismissing Rivial Opposition✅

The Amaonye community, in collaboration with Greenfield Metals, is poised to embark on a new era of development and prosperity. In 2013, under the leadership of Hon. Denis Ukpai, the Amaonye Amalokpa executives granted Greenfield Metals a license to mine lead deposits in Ekubara, Amaonye, following due process.

Despite a 12-year delay due to a land dispute with a neighboring community, Ihietutu, government findings confirmed the land belonged to Amaonye, paving the way for Greenfield Metals to commence operations. The company has made significant strides, including donating 50 street lights, grading roads, and constructing a new road to the mining site.

The community has overwhelmingly supported Greenfield Metals, with landlords identifying their land for the mining project. This unity is a testament to the community's desire for development and progress.

Unfortunately, a vocal minority has attempted to disrupt the project, resorting to violence and spreading misinformation. The community condemns these actions, which have resulted in the loss of life and property damage.

The Amaonye community stands united in support of Greenfield Metals, recognizing the company's commitment to responsible mining practices and community development. We urge all stakeholders to disregard baseless allegations and join us in welcoming this partnership, which promises a brighter future for Amaonye.

AMAONYE COMMUNITY BACKS GREENFIELD METALS, DISMISSES SMEAR CAMPAIGN BY RIVAL MINERS

The Amaonye community in Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has thrown its weight behind Greenfield Metals Ltd, a solid minerals mining firm operating in the area, expressing readiness to partner with the company in the exploration of the community’s abundant mineral resources.

The community’s position was made public during the weekend when men, women, and youths staged a massive peaceful march across villages in Amaonye, condemning what they described as a “malicious and wicked” social media campaign allegedly sponsored by rival mining interests to discredit Greenfield Metals Ltd and the leadership of the community.

The protest followed allegations by a social media critic, Chika Nwoba, who accused the mining company and some community leaders of undermining the family on whose land the mineral deposits were discovered.

Protesters, however, dismissed the claims as false and misleading.

Speaking to journalists during the protest, the Traditional Prime Minister of Ishiagu, High Chief Joseph Chukwu, said Amaonye had enjoyed peace for years until some individuals began opposing the company’s operations for personal gain.

“We have been living in peace, but some people have been blocking development for years. Now that God has exposed them and the company has finally come, they are causing trouble,” he said.

“The community members carried out an open decision-making process, and the majority agreed that the company should come. We have given them a mandate to start work.”

He advised those fomenting trouble to embrace development, describing the mineral resources as a collective gift to the community.

“This mineral is God’s gift. If you don’t benefit from it today, your children will. Trying to keep people poor so that only a few can be rich is wrong,” he added.
