The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oriire Local Government commends the proactive leadership of our Executive Chairman, Hon. Michael Alabi Olateju, for the warm reception accorded to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, during his visit to Oloka earlier today.

The Governor’s visit to the site of the recent attack by suspected cross-border bandits further demonstrates the commitment of the PDP-led government in Oyo State to the safety and welfare of the people. We appreciate the Chairman for his steady coordination at the local level and for ensuring that the concerns of Oriire communities continue to receive prompt attention.

We also commend His Excellency for the compassionate interventions announced, including the ₦5 million compensation to each of the families of the five fallen Forest Guards, fully funded scholarships for their children, and the promise to rehabilitate the Ikoyi-Ile to Oloka road, provide boreholes, solar-powered street lights, and improved telecommunication facilities.

These initiatives clearly reflect the people-oriented vision of the PDP administration. As a party, we reaffirm our support for the Governor and our Chairman, and we assure the people of Oriire that the PDP will continue to prioritize their security, development, and overall well-being

Earlier today, in response to the ongoing security challenges in Oriire Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Michael Alabi Olateju, presented five motorcycles and one pickup patrol vehicle to the Vigilantes Group in Oriire. The presentation, which took place at the Oriire Local Government Secretariat, is part of deliberate efforts by the local government to strengthen community-based security and support grassroots safety initiatives.

The Vigilantes Group, an indigenous security outfit, appreciated the support and reaffirmed their commitment to working in synergy with other security agencies to protect lives and property across the local government. The Chairman charged the group to utilize the resources diligently and responsibly, while reiterating the administration’s resolve to continue prioritizing security and the well-being of residents of Oriire Local Government Area.

As part of ongoing efforts to reassure residents and strengthen confidence in government response, the Executive Chairman of Oriire Local Government, Hon. Michael Alabi Olateju, paid a follow-up visit to the community, accompanied by the Member representing Oriire State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Johnson Ogundele Akin, alongside other respected past and present leaders, party stakeholders, and PDP executives led by the Party Chairman, Hon. Oyelade Gabriel Olatunde.

The visit further reaffirmed the commitment of the PDP-led administration at both local and state levels to ensuring justice for the victims and the safety of lives and property across Oriire Local Government Area. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oriire Local Government Chapter, commiserates with the families of the gallant officers of the Old Oyo National Park who lost their lives in the recent bandit attack in Oloka and Ikoyi-Ile axis. Earlier today, the Executive Chairman of Oriire Local Government, Hon. Michael Alabi Olateju, accompanied by key government functionaries and party leaders, visited one of the bereaved families in Ikoyi-Ile on a condolence and support visit. The visit was aimed at identifying with the family in their moment of grief and offering immediate relief support on behalf of the government and the people of Oriire.

The PDP leadership in Oriire Local Government reiterates its firm commitment to the safety and security of lives and property across all communities. The party aligns fully with the assurance given by the local and state governments that no effort will be spared in ensuring that the perpetrators of this heinous act are brought to justice and that proactive measures are put in place to prevent any recurrence. We extend our heartfelt condolences to all the affected families, including those outside Oriire Local Government, and pray that God grants them strength and comfort during this difficult time.
