Comrades,
As we reflect on the 88th posthumous birthday of Chief Gani Fawehinmi, one truth stands clear:
The battle he fought is far from over.
Gani stood for justice when it was dangerous.
He spoke truth when silence was safer.
And the press stood with him—not just to report, but to resist, expose, and defend the people.
Today, what do we see?
Journalists harassed.
Voices intimidated.
Truth pressured.
Civic space shrinking.
This is not the democracy Gani fought for.
Let us be clear: When the press is weakened, the people are weakened.
When truth is silenced, injustice thrives.
The press is not just about reporting—it is about courage, accountability, and the defence of society.
We must rise to defend it.
This is a call to: • Protect journalists
• Resist intimidation
• Demand accountability
• Stand firmly on truth
Gani did not struggle for applause—he struggled for a just society.
The question now is: Are we ready to continue that struggle?
Silence is not an option.
The struggle continues.

STATE POLICE - POLICE STATE ?

✊🏽 STATE POLICE: LET’S THINK AM WELL BEFORE WE ACT
We understand why many Nigerians are supporting State Police.
Truth be told — insecurity is real. People are tired. People are angry. People just want to be safe.
And honestly, nobody can blame them.
But let’s calm down for a moment and ask ourselves one simple question:
👉 Are we solving the problem… or creating another one?
🤔 LET’S REASON THIS TOGETHER
Today, many people already complain that the police is sometimes used to:
Intimidate people
Harass citizens
Control protests
Now imagine this:
👉 What happens when the same political class controls police directly at state level?
During elections…
During protests…
During disagreements…
Who will protect the ordinary person?
⚠️ THIS IS NOT ABOUT TRIBE OR POLITICS
Let’s be honest.
Power does not know tribe.
Power does not know religion.
👉 Today it may favour you…
👉 Tomorrow it may be used against you
That is the nature of unchecked power.
🧠 WE ARE NOT AGAINST SECURITY — LET’S BE CLEAR
We all want security.
We all want our communities to be safe.
But what we are saying is simple:
✔ Let there be reform
✔ Let policing be closer to the people
❗ But let there be strong safeguards first
🚨 SECURITY IS NOT EXPERIMENT
Some people say:
👉 “Let’s try State Police and see how it goes”
But the truth is:
When security fails, it is the people that suffer — not the politicians.
This is not something we should gamble with.
🔄 LET’S REFRAME THIS MATTER
This is not about:
❌ State Police vs No State Police
This is about:
👉 Protecting the people from abuse of power
📣 WHAT SHOULD WE DO NOW?
Instead of rushing, let us:
👉 Ask questions
👉 Demand clear safeguards
👉 Insist on accountability
👉 Speak up in our communities
👉 Engage our unions, youth groups, and civil society
🤝 CALL FOR SOLIDARITY
This is not a fight for one group.
This is not about politics.
👉 This is about the voiceless and the defenceless
We call on:
Workers
Students and youths
Lawyers
Journalists
Civil society groups
Let us come together — not as followers, but as equal partners — to shape a system that truly protects the people.

We must not forget the tradition of our leader and mentor,
Gani Fawehinmi
Who stood firmly for justice, for the people, and against oppression — no matter where it came from.
That is the path we must follow.

Don’t give more power without control.
Security must protect the people — not oppress them.

STATE POLICE OR POLICE STATE?

Let’s stop deceiving ourselves.
State Police is being sold to Nigerians as the “solution” to insecurity. But the real question is:

Solution for who… and at what cost?
The same political class that is already misusing power today — you now want to hand them direct control of armed police at state level?
Think about it.
If the current police is sometimes used to intimidate, harass, and silence people…

What will happen when Governors have their own police forces?
Opposition will become “criminals”
Protests will be crushed
Workers and activists will be targeted
Power will become more dangerous
And don’t say “let’s try it and see.”

Security is not an experiment. When it goes wrong, it is the people that suffer — not the politicians.
Nobody is against reform. We all want security.
But at the Gani Fawehinmi Memorial Organization (GAFAMORG) and the National Conscience Party (NCP), we are saying:
✔ Reform — YES
✔ Closer policing — YES

Unchecked State Police — NO
Because:
Giving more power to those already abusing power is not reform — it is a bigger problem waiting to happen.
Nigeria must not walk into this blindly.
Read. Think. Speak.
Before it becomes too late.
