FFS Ikare Trains NYSC Corps Members on Fire Safety
The Federal Fire Service, Ikare-Akoko fire station, Ondo command , delivered a fire safety lecture at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State.
It was an exciting moment today at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko as personnel of the Federal Fire Service educated staff and corps members on the Basic Principles of Fire Safety. The lecture, succinctly delivered by ASF I Daodu Kehinde Johnson appealed to participants to adopt a proactive approach to fire safety wherever they find themselves.
He emphasized essential safety measures such as strictly observing fire prevention tips, including avoiding the storage of flammable materials at home, refraining from the use of expired gas cylinders, preventing socket overloading beyond capacity, and other unsafe practices. He further advised that fire safety knowledge is a vital life-saving skill that everyone must possess, adding that a fire-safety-conscious community is a safer community for all.
Additionally, a fire drill was demonstrated, during which controlled incipient fires were effectively extinguished using a fire extinguisher and a fire blanket. Volunteer corps members, both male and female, actively participated after the initial demonstrations by professional firefighters. Questions were entertained, and clear, concise answers were provided to clarify areas that required better understanding.
Conclusively, he appeals to all participants to have the emergency command lines correctly saved in their mobile phones, particularly the nearest fire station to their various places of primary assignment.
