PRESS RELEASE

CGF OLUMODE APPRECIATES BUNU FORUM, CLARIFIES CONVOY MISCONCEPTIONS

The Controller General, Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, MBA, MDRM, FCNA, ACTI, has extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Bunu Progressive Forum for the elaborate homecoming ceremony organised in his honour in Kabba on April 3rd, 2026.

The Controller General also sincerely appreciates the presence of distinguished dignitaries at the event, including the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, who was ably represented by his Deputy, His Excellency, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo.

Special appreciation is extended to the revered traditional ruler, the Obaro of Kabba, His Royal Majesty, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi, for his royal blessings and fatherly support. The Controller General further appreciates the presence of the National Deputy Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, alongside other eminent personalities.

The Controller General also acknowledges and appreciates the presence of respected traditional rulers from across Kogi State, including the Elulu of Mopa, His Royal Majesty, Oba Muyiwa Ibeun, and the Maigari of Lokoja, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi, among others, whose presence added great prestige and cultural significance to the occasion.

The event was thoughtfully put together not only to celebrate his appointment but also to appreciate the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for deeming him worthy of the office of Controller General, Federal Fire Service. The Bunu Progressive Forum also extended its appreciation to the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his support and contributions to the Service.

The Controller General described the reception as a strong demonstration of unity, support, and shared commitment to national development and public safety.

In response to recent public reactions generated by a video published on the official page of the Service, the Federal Fire Service wishes to clarify concerns regarding the perceived long convoy associated with the Controller General.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Controller General travelled with only his official vehicle, a pilot vehicle, and essential security support. The additional vehicles seen were those of Deputy Controllers General (DCGs), Assistant Controllers General (ACGs), and other senior officers of the Service who attended the event.

Their presence formed part of the Service’s management team, and the decision for them to attend alongside the Controller General was deliberate, ensuring adequate coordination and security coverage for all senior officers at the high-profile gathering.

The Federal Fire Service remains committed to transparency, professionalism, and responsible public engagement. It reassures Nigerians that its operations and official movements are always guided by necessity, safety considerations, and best practices.

The Controller General once again expresses his sincere gratitude to the Bunu Progressive Forum and the entire Kabba community for the honour and warm reception.

Signed:

🔥 GRASS FIRES BURN HOT AND FAST 🔥

What starts as a small flame can become a life-threatening disaster in minutes.

Wildfires—also known as bushfires—can ignite suddenly and spread at extreme speed, especially during dry and windy conditions. A single spark can turn grassland into an uncontrollable fire within seconds.

🔥 Why wildfires are so dangerous
• Dry grass and vegetation burn rapidly
• Wind can change fire direction without warning
• Flying embers can start new fires far ahead
• Thick smoke reduces visibility and causes breathing problems

🚨 Be Bushfire-Ready
✔️ Avoid open burning during hot, dry, or windy days
✔️ Clear dry leaves, grass, and debris around homes and fences
✔️ Keep water, hoses, and fire extinguishers ready
✔️ Prepare an evacuation plan and emergency kit
✔️ Follow official fire warnings and instructions immediately

❌ Never
• Leave fires unattended
• Throw cigarette butts on the ground
• Burn grass or rubbish during fire danger periods

🔥 If you see smoke or fire, report it immediately 08130891936
Early reporting saves lives, homes, and properties
