*Inspection of the Ongoing Ilado–Ikise and Itanrin Roads Construction*

I, alongside the Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Diya, embarked on an inspection tour of the ongoing road construction projects in Odogbolu Local Government. This is coming up less than forty eight hours after i joined the State Government in the commissioning of Sagamu Aiyepe Road on Thursday 22nd January,2026.

The inspection covered the Ilado–Ikise and Ala-Idowa roads and was aimed at assessing firsthand the level and quality of work being carried out on the projects.

While speaking with journalsts during the inspection, I stated that the construction and rehabilitation of roads across the constituency are part of efforts to complement government initiatives aimed at improving the living standards of citizens in the state.

I expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and the assessment reports received so far.

“Once these roads are completed, they will boost the socio-economic development of the areas and open up greater economic opportunities for the communities,”

The Ilado–Ikise road, which connects Ilado, Ikise, Igbile, and Omu, is a federal constituency project facilitated by Hon. Olufemi Ogunbanwo. The project cuts across Wards 10, 12, 13 and 14 in Odogbolu Local Government.

In the same vein, the entourage also visited the Sabo-Itanrin Road project being executed by the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun to assess the level of work done.

During the visit, I commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his sustained commitment to road infrastructure development across Ogun State.
Residents of the area were very elated to see their representative and expressed their thankfulness for the Ilado-Ikise laudable project.

*Omo-Iwa Disburses Bursary Awards to Over 300 Indigent Students in Ijebu Central Federal Constituency*

Over 300 indigent student beneficiaries in the Ijebu Central Federal Constituency have received the 2024/2025 bursary awards through an Educational Support Initiative by the Member of the House of Representatives representing Ijebu Ode/Odogbolu/Ijebu North East Federal Constituency, Hon. Olufemi Adeleke Ogunbanwo, popularly known as Omo-Iwa.

The initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden on students and promoting access to quality education.

The bursary disbursement ceremony, held at the Samson Afolabi Anglican Church Hall, Ijebu Ode, attracted students, parents, community leaders, and party stakeholders.

Beneficiaries were selected from various wards across Ijebu Central, with the support specifically targeted at indigent students in tertiary institutions who require financial assistance to continue their academic pursuits.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Ogunbanwo emphasized the importance of education as a key driver of development, noting that the bursary initiative was designed to encourage students to remain focused on their studies despite prevailing economic challenges.

The lawmaker recalled that his commitment to bursary disbursement dates back to 1990 during his days as a university student and Student Union Government (SUG) leader.

He narrated how the initiative began when a sum of ₦10,000 was given to him by Late Rufus Giwa to step down a decision of not allowing the then military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, to the University of Lagos.

According to him, he disbursed ₦5,000 of the money as bursaries to 10 students and kept the remaining ₦5,000 in the union’s account.

He added that General Babangida later donated an additional ₦25,000 after learning of the gesture, marking the beginning of his long-standing commitment to supporting students through bursary awards.

Hon. Ogunbanwo stated that investing in education remains one of the most effective ways to empower young people and secure a better future for the constituency adding that the bursary scheme is part of a broader commitment to human capital development and community upliftment, noting that similar interventions would continue to support youths, artisans, and other vulnerable groups.

The federal Lawmaker further urged students to aspire to greatness regardless of the challenges they may face, stressing that education should always be treated as a top priority in the pursuit of success.

Also speaking at the event, the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu, advised the beneficiaries to remain dedicated to their studies, noting that education remains a powerful tool for achieving success in life.

Professor Arigbabu described the initiative as complementary to the Ogun State Government’s vision for education and supportive of the Federal Government’s student loan scheme.

He added that addressing financial challenges would enable students to focus on their academics and excel in their chosen fields.

Speaking on behalf of the bursary award beneficiaries, Adeyemi Oluwatosin and Akinmola Esther expressed gratitude to Hon. Ogunbanwo for the gesture, describing the bursary as timely and impactful.

They noted that the funds would go a long way in assisting them with school fees, learning materials, and other academic-related expenses.

Highlights of the event also included the empowerment of 200 widows, further underscoring Hon. Ogunbanwo’s commitment to social welfare and community development within the constituency.

Dear Constituents,

I want to say what an enormous privilege and honour it is for me to be trusted with your votes. I am deeply overwhelmed.
Permit me to return all thanks to God for the graciousness to earn this victory. It is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.

I would like to thank my dear brother and sister in the contest Barrister Taiwo Shote and Barrister Adeola Azeez for the extraordinary stoicism and resilience during the very difficult circumstances of the election campaigns. I am particularly appreciative of Barrister Adeola's level of comportment during all the debates. Similar regards and respect to all other candidates of various political parties all of whom I hold in very high esteem for nudging me on with some of the ideas they came up with.

*Ijebu Central Federal Constituency is for us all.*
*I wish you the very best of luck in the future.*

This victory is remarkable and historic for the people of my constituency and my party and I am in no doubt at all as to what it means.

It is a mandate for reform and investment in the future( the youths) and it is also a very clear instruction to deliver. I have learnt many things in the course of running for this election. I have learnt from mistakes, misconceptions as well as the good things.

But above all, I have learnt of the importance of establishing the priorities of government of setting them out clearly for people and then focusing on same relentlessly. In the period of campaigns, I toured many peculiar areas and I am committed to open collaboration with well meaning individuals, NGOs, government at all levels for the revitalization of these very economically viable areas.

I believe there is even a greater obligation on us as people, as a political party as well as on me, after this election to tell people that we are more committed to addressing the challenges confronting us and that the choices we will make would be to help us work for them.

Dear Constituents, I would like to extend my congratulatory message to His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, the Senator Elect for our Senatorial Constituency. It is indeed a rebirth for for Ogun State.

It has not ended and we need to make it more comprehensive. To this end, i will like to enjoin us to keep up the spirit of this victory and replicate it come March 11th, 2023 to re-elect Prince Dapo Abiodun and our House of Assembly candidates for a continued growth, transformations and monumental developments currently being witnessed in the state.

Dear Constituents, *thank you once again.*

Remain blessed.
