Hon Wasiu Emiola Submits Letter Of Intent, Offers Ibadan North Local Government Quality Representation
Hon Wasiu Emiola, a grass root politician with a storied political experience and an impeccable public service record, has formally expressed his interest in representing the good people of Ibadan North Local Government at the Federal House of Representatives. This was effected via the submission of a letter of intent to the Chairman, All Progressive Congress, Ibadan North Local Government.
Hon Emiola, whose political experience stretched back to the days of Ibadan Municipal Government, when all the present five local government areas in Ibadanland was one, was the pioneer Ward Secretary of Ward 2, which comprised the present day Wards 1, 2 and 3.
Through political appointment, he was also the pioneer Education Secretary, Ibadan North Local Government for a record nine years, a duration made possible by his openness, honesty and integrity, even when other Education Secretaries in other local government areas were relieved of their position.
Hon Emiola has held the State Secretary position of two major political parties and has a support base cutting across many political and professional divides, a cogent point to be considered as our great party, the All Progressive Congress, look towards ensuring victory in the upcoming bye-election and filling the space vacated by the late Hon Musiliu Olaide Akinremi.
While expressing sadness and extending his condolences afresh to the immediate and political family of Hon Akinremi, Hon Emiola extolled the late lawmaker's vibrancy and indelible impact on the politics of Ibadan North Local Government and Oyo State politics at large. He assures the good people of Ibadan North Local Government of an integrity-based representation if given the opportunity to do so. He said, "Late Hon Akinremi was like a younger brother and he was a very good friend who always invited me and whose invitation I always honoured at the various events he planned to interphase with communities in Ibadan North Local Government. In fact, I was present and participated in handing out financial support packages to beneficiaries at the last empowerment programme he held before his demise. None of us expected that he would be gone by this time, but we must bow our will to Allah's and look to how we can continue to better the lot of those of us still alive by God's mercy"
