REPORT ON THE TRAINING ON EQUIPMENT FOR BREEDER SEED AND FOUNDATION SEED QUALITY
The training on Equipment for Breeder Seed and Foundation Seed Quality, facilitated by Mr. Takamasa Ando, successfully concluded on 15th July, 2026.
The training was conducted in two phases. The first phase ran from 22nd June to 3rd July, 2026, during which participants received both theoretical and practical training on the following:
* Equipment for breeder seed and foundation seed quality improvement.
* Seed germination testing.
* Risk analysis for occupational health and safety.
* Risk analysis for seed quality.
* Operation of seed production equipment, including the combine harvester, seed dryer, and seed grader machine.
The second phase, held from 6th to 15th July, 2026, focused on the cleaning and maintenance of the seed production equipment, including the combine harvester, seed dryer, and seed grader machine. Participants were also trained on the proper scheduling of activities to ensure efficient operation, maintenance, and management of the equipment.
The training officially came to an end on 15th July, 2026. Certificates were presented to all participants in recognition of their successful completion of the programme. The event concluded with light refreshments and a group photograph.

We sincerely appreciate Mr. Takamasa Ando for his dedication, expertise, and commitment throughout the training. We also express our profound gratitude to the Management of the National Cereals Research Institute (NCRI), ably represented by the Head of Station (HOS), for their unwavering support and commitment to staff capacity development.
The knowledge and practical skills acquired during the training will contribute significantly to improving the operation and maintenance of equipment used in breeder seed and foundation seed production, thereby enhancing seed quality and agricultural productivity.
