The Oyo State ADC extends heartfelt congratulations to the families and relatives of the abducted Orire teachers and schoolchildren.

The leadership and members of the Oyo State ADC, under the Chairmanship of Alhaji Yinka Olona, stand in solidarity with the families celebrating the safe return of these individuals from captivity.

We commend the security agencies for their bravery, dedication, and professionalism demonstrated during the rescue operation.

While we express our congratulations to the Oyo State government, we take this opportunity to remind all levels of government that ensuring security is their primary constitutional obligation, which must be consistently upheld, even during times of governance transition.

The Oyo State ADC appreciates the collaborative efforts of government entities, security agencies, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), and all concerned citizens in facilitating the return of the abducted Orire schoolchildren and their teachers.

We caution against the politicization of this issue, as it reflects a fundamental failure on the part of the government that allowed such distressing incidents to occur. It is imperative that authorities prioritize their responsibilities to safeguard the lives of all citizens.

PUBLIC NOTICE

THE POLITICAL BANDITS HAVE TRANSFORMED THEIR IYAGANKU TRANSACTIONAL SHOP INTO A CAPTIVITY DEN.

This is to alert our esteemed members and general public that Oyo State ADC Secretariat did not the notice captioned "NOTICE TO ALL ADC HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY CANDIDATES" which invited State House Assembly candidate for collection of INEC nomination forms on 14th July 2026, such notice did not emanate from Oyo State ADC Secretariat; this is handiwork of the political bandits masquerading as factional ADC in Oyo State.

These bandit elements have unlawfully established an illegal structure to assume the functions and duties of the legally recognized ADC structure in Oyo State, led by Alhaji Yinka Olona. They are actively attempting to deceive unsuspecting ADC members and the public for the purpose of hostage-taking.

They have been illicitly using the ADC name to convene unauthorized meetings and engage in other nefarious activities, in blatant violation of the existing court judgment.

These individuals primarily engage in name-dropping, impersonation, extortion, and gaslighting.

Please note that the Oyo State ADC Secretariat has distributed INEC forms EC 9, EC 13C, and EC 13D to all our National Assembly candidates, as well as INEC forms EC 9 and EC 13E to all our State Assembly candidates, in accordance with directives from the appropriate national authority of the ADC.

We strongly advise our esteemed members and the general public to disregard these impostors, as their existence is currently subject of litigation.

ADC IN EKITI STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION- A DANCING SPREE THAT ENDS IN FAILURE.

In the Ekiti State Governorship Election, the ADC's journey was quite a lively one, filled with enthusiasm and energy. However, it seems that despite the spirited efforts, the outcome wasn't as successful as hoped.

The Election serves as a poignant illustration of the unintended consequences stemming from self-conceited leadership, trust gap, and integrity deficit.

The so-called promoters and leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the South West Zone, who claim ownership of the party's structure, unfortunately lack the requisite influence, native intelligence, and political acumen to attract influential politicians and sway public interest towards our esteemed party.

Their previous government roles , such as commissioners, governors, and ministers may have led them to overestimate their political strength.

Some may have attributed the ADC's failure in Ekiti to the absence of a robust grassroots political framework, structural deficiencies, and financial and institutional disadvantages. But these realities are just a reflection of the total rejection of the influence of the minority individuals and groups favored by the national headquarters and leadership of our party.

Here is a numerical summary of the Ekiti election results:

- Total valid votes: 375,777
- ADC: 12,872 votes, representing 3.43% of the total valid votes
- PDP: 40,543 votes, representing 10.79% of the total valid votes
- APC: 319,224 votes, representing 84.95% of the total valid votes

The performance of the PDP is understandable, given the influence of figures like Wike and Makinde, yet they managed to secure over 40,000 votes despite a fractured structure.

While it can be assumed that incumbency, federal influence, and financial inducements significantly impacted the election outcome in favor of the APC, ADC has no justification for securing merely 3% of the total valid votes and finishing a distant third.

The so-called leaders who regard themselves as the core influence of the ADC in the South West have, in fact, shown they are lacking substantial political weight to at least improve the performance of the ADC over the previous elections.

They have not demonstrated any ability to serve as unifying agents. Instead, they have conducted themselves as factional and sectional entities, with a discernible agenda to destabilize the ADC in the South West, thereby providing an advantage to President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

It is indeed a matter of concern that the national secretary of our party appears to be concentrating solely on promoting and recruiting members into his self-styled Omoluabi Progressive group. This approach has the potential to polarize the ADC structure within the South West Zone.

In recent months, the actions and inactions of the national Secretary in the South West have demonstrated our party's inability to adhere to the rule of law, respect constitutional order, and consistently comply with court orders. For instance, the national secretary has been promoting certain individuals , thereby projecting themselves as state and zonal officers of the party, in direct defiance of a Federal High Court judgment, even when a stay of ex*****on could not be upheld at the Court of Appeal.

If the ADC is to be recognized as a credible force rather than a transactional party, especially in the South West, the national leadership must urgently undertake the following actions:

1. Caution the National Secretary against promotion of his divisive Omoluabi Progressive forum within the South West ADC.
2. Initiate a reconciliation drive to unify ADC members across every state in the South West.
3. Expedite the resolution of all primary election disputes caused by the actions of the Deputy National Chairman and Interim National Secretary.

Press statement.

Oyo State ADC calls for unity against antidemocratic cowards following ADC deregistration and five others.

The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State acknowledges the concerns and sentiments of our esteemed members in Oyo State regarding the judgment delivered by Justice Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja on June 15, 2026. The judgment, which ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister and de-recognize the ADC along with five other political parties.

We recognize that this development may have resulted in considerable anxiety, affecting not only our members but also the general public who perceive the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a viable alternative to restore Nigeria to the much-anticipated democratic path.

It is crucial for us, as a party, to reassure our esteemed members that the judgment rendered by Justice Lifu will not be upheld.

The Oyo State African Democratic Congress, therefore aligned itself with the position of the national headquarters of our party, as articulated by the National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi in this matter.

Moreover, we wish to reassure all candidates who have emerged from legitimate primary elections monitored by INEC that their interests are thoroughly protected and secured in this matter.

Our assurances are based on the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended. The Constitution provides that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has the authority to deregister a political party if it fails to meet certain criteria, which include:

1. Securing at least one seat in either the National Assembly or the State House of Assembly elections.
2. Obtaining a minimum of 25% of the votes cast in at least one state of the federation during a presidential election.
3. Achieving at least 25% of the votes cast in two-thirds of the local government areas in a governorship election.
4. Adhering to statutory administrative requirements, such as maintaining functional national offices and submitting audited financial returns.

The Constitution mandates that fulfillment of any of these conditions is necessary for INEC to sustain the registration of a political party.

For avoidance of doubt, ADC in 2023 two national Assembly seats and also in Ogun State Assembly.

Furthermore, the ruling of the Court of Appeal in Appeal No. CA/AB/CV/569/2026, delivered on the 22nd of May, 2026, had already imposed a restraint on Justice Lifu from proceeding with the case until the determination of the appeal. This decision would undoubtedly render the judgment of Justice Lifu invalid and deem it out of order.

Following the ruling of the Court of Appeal, it is anticipated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will exercise caution in acting on the judgment rendered by Justice Lifu.

The judgment from the lawsuit marked as FHC/ABJ/CS/2637/2026, initiated by the National Forum of Former Legislators, may have set tone for confusion. However, we are confident that judicial rascality will not be sustained in this regard.

We hereby urge conscientious Nigerians to stand up against those who have been continuously undermining democratic principles and persistently assaulting our democratic order.

The Oyo State ADC firmly supports the enthronement of rule of law.

The Oyo State ADC aligns itself with the national leadership of our great party in this democratic struggle.

Oyo State ADC stands in solidarity with our esteemed members and is committed to safeguarding the interests of all our legitimate candidates.

OUTCOME OF THE 101ST MEETING OF THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (ADC) WITH REGARDS SOUTH WEST ZONE

1. NEC approved the results of all recently conducted primaries for State Houses of Assembly, the National Assembly, State Governors, and the Presidential elections; except those with pending Complaints.

Implications: all compliants must be resolved before submission of candidates name with INEC

2. NEC approved the extension of the tenure of the National Working Committee (NWC) for a period of 12 months from the expiry of their current tenure.

3. NEC approved the constitution of the Caretaker Committees at the Zonal, State, Local Government and Wards for a period of 12 months especially where there is no subsisting valid exco.

4. Only two national exco members from South West Zonal- Bamidele Ajadi- Deputy National Chairman Politics and. Rauf Aregbesola interim National Secretary are recognized from the South West Zone, others who claimed to be national exco members from the zone are henceforth de-recognized until valid resolution is achieved.
