MASSIVE DEPLOYMENT OF PERSONNEL FOR HITCH-FREE EID-UL-FITR CELEBRATIONS

The Zamfara State Police Command, under the able leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, psc(+), has put in place comprehensive security arrangements to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-ul-Fitr celebration across the State.

In line with this, the Commissioner of Police has ordered the massive deployment of personnel and operational assets to strategic locations, including Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, major highways, and other vulnerable points across the State.

The CP has also directed all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to take proactive measures within their Areas of Responsibility (AOR) to guarantee the safety of lives and property before, during, and after the festivities.

Members of the public are urged to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or security agency.

The Command reassures the good people of Zamfara State of its commitment to maintaining peace, security, and public order at all times.

ARREST OF SUSPECT AND RECOVERY OF 800 ROUNDS OF 7.62MM LIVE AMMUNITION

In a continued effort by the Command to checkmate the activities of criminal elements and restore normalcy across the State, operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command have successfully arrested a suspect in possession of a large cache of live ammunition.

On 10th March 2026 at about 1950hrs, a team of Police operatives while on routine patrol along Gusau–Funtua Federal Road at the Yankara checkpoint acted on credible intelligence, which led to the arrest of one Mannir Adam, 25 years old, male, of Yankuzo Village, Tsafe LGA, Zamfara State, who was riding a red Boxer motorcycle.

A thorough search conducted by the patrol team led to the recovery of eight hundred (800) rounds of AK-47 7.62mm live ammunition, carefully concealed inside the motorcycle’s fuel tank.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was travelling from Unguwar Bawa, Saminaka LGA of Kaduna State, and heading to Kucheri Village in Tsafe LGA, Zamfara State.

The suspect and the exhibits were immediately taken into custody and subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further discreet investigation, with a view to apprehending other members of the criminal network and bringing them to justice.

2025/2026 POLICE CONSTABLE RECRUITMENT: PHYSICAL AND CREDENTIALS SCREENING COMMENCE FROM 9TH MARCH TO 18TH APRIL 2026

The Zamfara State Police Command announces the commencement of the Physical and Credential Screening Exercise for Zamfara State indigenes who have successfully completed the online registration for recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force as Police Constables. The exercise is scheduled to run from Monday, 9th March, 2026 to Saturday, 18th April, 2026.

*Venue* :- police secondary school Gusau along LALAN road.
Time: 7:00am Daily

Applicants are advised to take note of the following:

1. The Exercise will be conducted from 9th March to 18th April 2026.

2. Applicants are required to log in to the recruitment portal at https://apply.policerecruitment.gov.ng to confirm their status and print relevant documents.

3. Applicants are to report strictly according to the date indicated on their invitation slip.

4. All applicants must bring the following items neatly arranged in two white flat files:

FOILED ATTEMPTED ATTACK ON RUWAN DOROWA DISTRICT BY ARMED BANDITS

The Zamfara State Police Command has successfully foiled an attempted attack by armed bandits on Ruwan Dorowa District, reinforcing its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the State.

On 1st March, 2026, at about 2000hrs, a large number of suspected armed bandits reportedly advanced into Ruwan Dorowa District through the Maru LGA axis, with the intent to attack residents who were observing Isha’i congregational prayers.

Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer mobilised the Division’s strike force in collaboration with military personnel to the affected area. Upon sighting the combined security team, the bandits engaged the operatives in a gun duel but were decisively repelled. Overpowered by the superior firepower and coordinated response of the security forces, the assailants fled into the surrounding bush with suspected gunshot injuries.

The area is currently under intensified patrol and surveillance to forestall any further threat and to ensure the continued safety of residents.

The Command urges members of the public to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive by providing timely and credible information to security agencies. The Zamfara State Police Command remains resolute in its determination to rid the State of criminal elements.

FOILED CATTLE RUSTLING ATTACK IN DAMBA AREA

The Zamfara State Police Command has successfully foiled a cattle rustling attempt in Damba area of the State.

On 28th February, 2026 at about 0220hrs, a group of armed men suspected to be cattle rustlers attacked Sunami area of Damba with the intent to rustle a large number of cattle. Upon receipt of credible information from a good Samaritan at about 0230hrs, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Damba promptly mobilized the Division’s search and rescue team and swiftly responded to the scene.

However, the operatives pursued the rustlers in a brave and coordinated operation, forcing them to abandon their mission. Consequently, the entire consignment of cattle was successfully recovered and returned to their rightful owners.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, psc+, commended the gallant officers for their swift response and professionalism. He further urged the good people of the State to continue collaborating with the Police by providing timely and useful information, assuring that the Command remains committed to combating all forms of crime and criminality across the State.

POLICE OFFICERS WIVES ASSOCIATION (POWA) OF ZAMFARA COMMAND EMPOWERS SEVENTY FAMILY OF FALLEN AND WOUNDED POLICE OFFICERS IN THE COMMAND

The Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), has reinforced its unwavering commitment to the welfare of families of fallen and wounded police officers through a comprehensive empowerment initiative.

The programme was organized under the leadership of the Chairperson, POWA Zamfara State Command, Hajiya Asma’u Balarabe Maikaba, who was represented at the event by Mrs. Josephine Alfred.

As part of the initiative, food items were distributed to the seventy family of officers who paid the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, as well as the family of officers wounded in action, to cushion their immediate welfare needs. The beneficiaries also received vocational training in the production of liquid soap and shampoo, equipping them with practical and income-generating skills aimed at fostering self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.

In her remarks on behalf of the Chairperson, Mrs. Josephine Alfred commended the families for their resilience and steadfastness, assuring them of POWA’s continued support and solidarity.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED ILLEGAL MINERS IN ZURMI AND MARADUN LGAs

On 31st January, 2026, at about 1400 hours, a joint operation comprising officers of the Anti-Illegal Mining Unit, Tactical Unit, and Bomb Disposal Unit of the Zamfara State Police Command, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Federal Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development, Area Office Gusau, was conducted to dislodge groups of illegal miners.

The operation targeted locations at Boko Village, Zurmi Local Government Area, and Kaya Village, Maradun Local Government Area, where illegal mining activities had been persistently reported.

The raid was successfully executed, leading to the arrest of twenty-one (21) suspected illegal miners.

The suspects are currently under investigation at the Taskforce on Illegal Mining Unit. Further developments will be communicated in due course.
