STRATEGIC DIALOGUE ON REVENUE DIVERSIFICATION

The Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service (ZIRS), under the visionary leadership of Executive Chairman Hajiya Rakiya Ahmed Dodo, FCTI, ACA, successfully hosted a 2-day Town Hall Dialogue focused on Diversifying Revenue Streams in line with the New Tax Regime.

The event served as a dynamic platform for stakeholders to explore innovative strategies for boosting the state's economy, with particular emphasis on unlocking non-tax revenue opportunities. The occasion also saw the recognition of outstanding performers, with awards presented to best performing Institutions, corporate bodies and individuals for their outstanding contributions to revenue generation.

The dialogue was dignified by the presence of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, PhD, who reaffirmed the administration's unwavering commitment to fiscal transparency, accountability, and full implementation of the Nigeria Tax Reform Acts, 2025. ZAMFARA STATE TAKES SIGNIFICANT STEPS TO BOOST REVENUE

The Executive Chairman of the Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service (ZIRS), Hajiya Rakiya Ahmed Dodo, FCTI, has led a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening revenue collection across the state. In collaboration with the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, ZIRS organized a two-day retreat for the 14 Local Government Council Chairmen.

The retreat was held from February 5–6, 2026, at the Bafra International Hotel, Kaduna.

Discussions at the retreat focused on the effective implementation of the new tax reforms, the harmonization of state and local government revenue streams, and the introduction of an intelligent billing system to improve efficiency and compliance.

This initiative underscores Zamfara State’s commitment to enhancing revenue generation, promoting transparency and accountability, and aligns with Governor Dauda Lawal’s broader agenda for revenue reform and sustainable fiscal management.

ZAMFARA STATE DELEGATION ON STUDY TOUR TO KADHSMA

A high level delegation from Zamfara State, led by Dr. Auwalu Bala, Executive Director, Compliance and Enforcement, comprising senior officials from the Ministry of Health, ZIRS, Health Services Management Board, Drugs Management and Consumables Agency, ZITDA, and General Hospital Gusau, embarked on a study tour to the Kaduna State Health Supplies Management Agency (KADHSMA). The delegation explored best practices in healthcare management, with a focus on efficient drug distribution systems and automated payment systems.

The visit aimed to identify and replicate successful models in Zamfara State, with a view to enhancing revenue mobilization and improving healthcare delivery. The delegation was impressed by KADHSMA's innovative approaches, which have transformed healthcare services in Kaduna State.

FAMILIARIZATION VISIT TO THE STATE DIRECTOR OF SECURITY SERVICES (DSS): STRENGTHENING COLLABORATION

The Executive Chairman of the Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service (ZIRS), Hajiya Rakiya Ahmad Dodo, FCTI, alongside her team of Executive Directors, paid a familiarization visit to the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) at his office. The visit was aimed at initiating and strengthening collaboration between ZIRS and the security agency for mutual benefit.

During the meeting, Hajiya Rakiya expressed her appreciation to the State Director of Security Services for the warm reception and the opportunity to engage. Furthermore, she emphasized the importance of the emerging partnership in achieving shared objectives that will contribute to the overall development of Zamfara State.

ZAMFARA STATE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE (ZIRS) FIRST QUARTER GENERAL MEETING 2026

The Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service (ZIRS) convened its First Quarter General Meeting for 2026, bringing together Executive Directors, members of the Management Team, and staff of the Service.

The meeting, chaired by the Executive Chairman, Hajiya Rakiya Ahmad Dodo, FCTI, focused on reviewing the significant achievements recorded in 2025, setting strategic revenue targets for 2026, and strengthening initiatives aimed at sustainable revenue growth.

In her address, the Executive Chairman commended staff for their dedication and collective efforts, which enabled the Service to surpass key performance benchmarks in 2025. She equally encouraged all personnel to intensify their efforts in 2026 by embracing teamwork, innovation, and professionalism to further enhance revenue mobilization in support of the State’s development objectives.

The meeting also deliberated on the current tax reforms, with emphasis on strengthening public enlightenment, improving voluntary taxpayer compliance, and simplifying tax administration processes.

PRESS RELEASE

FURTHER CLARIFICATION ON TAX ID

The Joint Revenue Board (JRB) reiterates that there will be no restrictions on bank accounts or financial transactions effective 1st January 2026 due to the non availability of Tax IDs.

Also, the public should note that no deductions will be made from any bank account on the basis of having a Tax ID or not.

The JRB assures Nigerians that Tax ID will be automatically issued to every taxable person using NIN for individuals, and CAC registration number for businesses.

Once again, there is no cause for panic as measures are being taken to ensure a seamless retrieval of Tax ID.

The Executive Chairman of Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service (ZIRS), Hajiya Rakiya Ahmad Dodo, FCTI, honored the most compliant transport operators, Keke, Kurkura, and Motorcycle Riders at ZIRS headquarters Gusau. She presented support forms to the top performers, recognizing their consistency in daily ticket payments.

During her remarks, she extended profound gratitude for their unwavering support. She highlighted that tax compliance serves as a powerful catalyst for the development of Zamfara State and urged all operators to maintain this positive momentum.
