DR JUDITH MAYEN ETUK-OGBARA CALLS FOR GREATER INCLUSION OF WOMEN IN GOVERNANCE, COMMENDS GOV UMO ENO FOR GENDER INCLUSIVENESS.

Obongawaan (Dr) Judith Mayen Etuk Ogbara, a leading contender for the House of Representative race in Eket Federal Constituency come 2027, has called for more inclusion of women in elective positions across the country.

She made the call over the weekend, during a live interactive session at Atlantic FM in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Dr (Mrs) Judith Mayen Etuk Ogbara didn’t just speak as a candidate; she spoke as a woman on a mission, one determined to reshape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

From the moment the conversation began, her message was as clear as a crystal and unapologetic: women must take their rightful places in governance.

With calm mien and conviction, Dr Judith called for greater inclusion of women in politics, emphasizing that the future of Nigeria cannot be built while half of its population remains underrepresented.

According to her, the time has come to dismantle the long-standing barriers, especially financial constraints and deep-rooted traditional limitations, that continue to hold women back from contesting elective positions in significant numbers.

She commended Governor Umo Eno for his gender-friendly policies, noting that his administration has opened doors for more women to participate in governance.

Still, she was quick to add that more can, and should be done to fully unlock the potentials of women across the state.

“Women are mothers, sisters, and aunts, they lead with care, compassion, and often, with results that speak louder than expectations.” she said. It was a statement that resonated deeply, challenging long-held assumptions and positioning women not just as mere participants, but as transformative leaders.

Drawing inspiration from the national stage, Dr Judith highlighted Oluremi Tinubu as one of her role models, praising her track record of service ,from her time in the Senate to her current role as Nigeria First Lady.

For Dr Judith, leadership is about impact, consistency, and service, and she sees that reflected in those she admires.

As the founder of the Abasiama Affiong Etuk Foundation, a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) she spoke passionately about her commitment to tackling poverty and unemployment, two issues she described as “urgent realities that demand real solutions.” .

When elected to represent Eket Federal Constituency, she pledged to champion policies that create opportunities, empower communities, and restore dignity to everyday lives.

During the interview, Dr Judith made it clear that she is not just in the race, but she is leading and has the full backing of the people of Eket, Onna, Esit Eket and Ibeno, and that she will be elected when the chips are finally down

"I will not disappoint my people", she said, and called on women to come out and actively participate in elective positions.

Dr. Mrs. Judith Mayen Etuk-Ogbara Pays Homage to Ntisong Ibibio III, Seeks Royal Blessings for Eket Federal Constituency Bid

In continuation of her consultations, the leading APC aspirant for Eket Federal Constituency, Dr. Mrs. Judith Mayen Etuk-Ogbara, paid homage to His Majesty, Ntisong Dr. Essien U. Ekidem, at his palace in Ikot Okudom, Okon, Eket Local Government Area.

Leading the delegation, the political leader of Ward 1 Urban, Elder Emmanuel Jacob, stated that they were at the village head’s and Ntisong Ibibio III’s palace to formally present their daughter, who is about to begin a journey of national importance, and to formally inform the council of her aspiration. Emmanuel Jacob thanked the Ikot Okudom Traditional Council for the warm reception and hospitality accorded them.

Receiving the delegation, the Village Council Chairman, Comrade Jerry Tommy, said they were overwhelmed to receive their daughter, a native of Ikot Okudom, at the palace. He assured them of their safety and a homely stay.

Presenting herself, Dr. Mrs. Judith Mayen Etuk-Ogbara said she was in the palace, her father’s land and birthplace, with overwhelming joy and confidence to officially inform the village head, Ntisong Ibibio III, and the Traditional Council of Ikot Okudom of her aspiration to vie for the Eket Federal Constituency seat in 2027. She sought the royal blessings of Ntisong Ibibio III.

Dr. Judith highlighted some of her programs and policies, which, apart from legislation, will include advocacy and community development if elected. She stated that her proven track record speaks for her and promised to do more, which is why she is aspiring.

Different speakers, in their remarks, said Dr. Judith’s credentials and proven track record mark her out as the most qualified, and they declared total support for her aspiration.

His Majesty, Ntisong Dr. Essien U. Ekidem, the Village Head and Ntisong Ibibio III, who had earlier received her, prayed and poured fatherly blessings on Dr. Judith Etuk-Ogbara, and closed with prayers for her confirmation.

Those in attendance at the ceremony included Comrade John Johnny Ibanga, Secretary; Deacon Sunday Effiong, Council Welfare Officer; Comrade Uwem William, Council Vice Chairman; Chief Imaikop Tom Peters, Sectional Head, Ikot Offiong Ikpi, and Obong Ekpi Nnung Offiong; Elder Peter Alex Edoho-Eket; Lady Lucky Akwa; and Dr. Judith’s aides.

As the 2027 general elections approach, the people of Eket Federal Constituency, comprising Eket, Esit Eket, Onna, and Ibeno, stand at a critical crossroads. The decision before us is not merely about filling a seat in the House of Representatives; it is about choosing the kind of future we desire, the quality of leadership we deserve, and the pace of development we are willing to embrace.

In this defining moment, one name continues to resonate with clarity, credibility, and capacity, Dr Judith Ogbara Mayen Etuk.

Dr. Etuk is not just another aspirant. She is eminently qualified, deeply exposed, and exceptionally prepared to deliver a kind of representation that Eket Federal Constituency has never experienced before. Her track record speaks volumes and reflects a rare blend of intellectual depth, administrative competence, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

: FIRST-TERM MYTH BUSTED- PERFORMANCE, NOT TENURE, MAKES A LAWMAKER

Some ignorant individuals are peddling a lazy lie: _“First-timers can’t perform superlatively as lawmakers.”_

*Facts from the 10th National Assembly rubbish that claim.*

First-Timers Are Already Outperforming Ranking Members.
The data doesn’t lie. In just one year, June 2023 – June 2024, first-term lawmakers proved that competence beats longevity:

- *Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere* _Ideato North/South, Imo, PDP_ — First-term Rep. Sponsored/co-sponsored *over 15 bills in under 2 years*, outperforming many ranking members. Called a “star performer” for legislative initiative.
- *Sen. Asuquo Ekpenyong* _Cross River South, APC_ — First-term Senator. Named one of 3 *best performing senators in 2025* by Parliamentary Watch Initiative. *Constituency scorecard*: 6,870 solar streetlights, 11 new roads, 8 road rehabilitations, 7 solar boreholes, 3 medical outreaches for 4,000+ residents, scholarships for 1,700+ students.
- *Hon. Okey Onuakalusi* _Oshodi-Isolo II, Lagos, LP_ — First-term Rep. *Led the entire House in petitions with 14* in one year. That’s direct constituent service.
- *Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan* _Kogi Central, PDP_ — First-term Senator. First female senator from Kogi. Recognized for bold oversight on Ajaokuta Steel and ranked among best performing senators for 2025.

ERGAF-Africa’s report found *5 senators and 48 Reps recorded ZERO legislative action* in year one. Many were ranking members. Meanwhile, first-timers like Ekpenyong and Ugochinyere were setting records.

So “first-term” is not a curse. *Incompetence is.*

Dr. Judith Mayen Etuk-Ogbara Has Already Done The Work — With Her Own Money.
If these first-timers performed without prior “NASS experience,” what more Dr. Judith Mayen Etuk-Ogbara — who has already been performing the functions of a representative as a private citizen?

While others wait for office to act, Dr. Ogbara has been:
1. *Sponsoring scholarships* for Eket sons/daughters and beyond out of her personal funds.
2. *Empowering women and youth* with skills, startup capital, and tools — no budget line, no allowance.
3. *Assisting constituents* in health, education, and welfare emergencies — quietly, consistently.
4. *Speaking up* when decisions offend the masses — _“We must stand firm and reject any attempt to manipulate or distort the party’s position.”_

*She is a speaking voice, not a wailing noise.*

*The Verdict For Eket Federal Constituency*
If Dr. Judith Ogbara can perform superlatively as a private person — using her personal money to lift families, educate children, and empower women — *imagine what she will do with the full instruments of office.*

Access to constituency projects, Zonal Intervention Funds, motions, bills, and oversight powers will only _multiply_ what she already does.

First-term did not stop Ekpenyong from lighting up Cross River South.
First-term did not stop Ugochinyere from sponsoring 15+ bills.
First-term will not stop Dr. Judith Mayen Etuk-Ogbara from rewriting the story of Eket Federal Constituency.

Performance is about heart, capacity, and courage — not years spent on the floor.

DR. MRS. JUDITH MAYEN ETUK-OGBARA CLARIFIES POSITION ON 2027 EKET FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY ELECTION; REAFFIRMS INTENTION TO CONTEST

My attention has been drawn to statements made by some leaders at a breakfast meeting in Eket, claiming that the party and government have issued a directive regarding the 2027 Eket Federal Constituency election, and advising constituents to follow the said directive.

I wish to clearly state my position on this matter.

What was presented at the meeting is a misrepresentation of party and His Excellency the Governor’s directive. The Governor has made it clear that there will be primaries, and that anyone interested in contesting should go to the field.

On that note, I want my supporters, constituents, and the general public to know: "I am contesting for the Eket Federal Constituency seat in 2027."

I urge the good people of Eket Federal Constituency not to be intimidated or swayed by individuals claiming to speak for the government while pushing a different narrative. If His Excellency has taken any new position, he will communicate it directly. Until then, we remain focused and move forward with clarity and confidence.

We must stand firm and reject any attempt to manipulate or distort the party's position. The process must remain transparent, fair, and open to all qualified aspirants.

I will be with you all soon as I pick up my nomination form. Please stay tuned. I thank you for your unwavering support; I do not take it for granted.

This is God’s project, and the voice of the people will always matter.
