NIMC TO BEGIN NATIONWIDE WARD LEVEL NIN ENROLMENT

The National Identity Management Commission has announced plans to begin ward level enrolment for the National Identification Number across the country.

The exercise will commence on February 16, 2026. The Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, said the move follows a presidential directive to expand NIN registration to communities at the grassroots.

The commission stated that the enrolment will be free. It targets all Nigerians and legal residents, including children, for inclusion in the National Identity Database.

According to NIMC, the initiative will bring registration services closer to people, ease access, and reduce the need for long distance travel to enrolment centres.

The commission advised members of the public to check its website for ward enrolment schedules. It also encouraged citizens to use its toll free line for further enquiries.

‎I had the honor yesterday of leading my executives and members of the National Association of Esit Eket Students (NAEES), Heritage Polytechnic Chapter, to commiserate with our immediate past president, Comrade Rose Joseph, on the obsequies of her beloved father LATE ELDER JOSEPH MONDAY ETTEUDO

‎The solemn event took place at the Local Government Guest House, Uquo, in Esit Eket LGA, and was officiated by Full Grace Bible Ministry International, Assang Uquo, Esit Eket.
‎
‎We came as one family, not just to mourn with her, but to stand in solidarity during this moment of grief. Comrade Rose Joseph served NAEES with unwavering dedication, and it is only right that we show up for her when it matters most.
‎
‎Accompanying me were: my Vice President, Comrade Emediong Charles, My PRO, who is also serving as the SSA on mobilization to the Worldwide President, Comrade Daniel Oscar, Comrade Udeme Friday, among others.

‎The burial was attended by several well-meaning student leaders from across different institutions of higher learning, The likes of Snr. Comrade Donald B. Robert, SA to the LG of Esit Eket on Media and publicity, Snr. Comr. Elnathan Effiong, Comr Moses Willie, Worldwide Secretary, Comr Anyi Anyi, Chief of staff to the Worldwide President, Comr Gift Wilson, immediate pass worldwide financial secretary, comrade Michael Frank and others all united in honoring the life of a man whose legacy continues through his daughter.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: COUNCIL BOSS BEGINS TOUR TO MAJOR MARKETS IN ESIT EKET

In her determination to boost economic activities in the area, the Chairman, Esit Eket Local Government Council, Hon. Mrs. Uduak Ikemesit Ikot, has embarked on a mission to revitalize markets in the area, starting with a visit to major markets in Uquo, the local government headquarters.

During her visit to Uquo main market today, the Chairman lamented the dire condition of the market facilities, characterized by detached roofs, cracked walls, and severe gully erosion, which had rendered significant portions of the market inaccessible to traders.

The Council Boss, who was accompanied by her vice, Hon. Eddy Etangkanga, Secretary of Council, Comrade Godwin Elijah, Supervisor for Information and Youths, Mr. Holyfield Umoyo and Mr. Samuel Francis, promised to address the challenges and give a new face to the market.

The Chairman, with her entourage also visited 'Udua Ayiu', another major market in Uquo. While interacting with traders, Ikot assured them of prompt action to provide furnished locked-up stores in no distance time. She further reaffirmed her dedication to people-centered projects, in tandem with the ARISE Agenda of the Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno.

Hon. Ikot further proposed the fencing of Uquo Timber Market and deployment of security personnel to address pressing concerns of theft and land encroachment, aiming to create a safer environment for traders and market users.

According to the Council Boss, the market tour highlights her commitment to boosting economic activities in Esit Eket and enhancing the welfare of market traders through infrastructural development and people-centered initiatives.
