ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS, ARMED ROBBERS, THIEVES, AND CATTLE RUSTLERS
..*One fabricated AK-47 rifle, 3 motorcycles, and 6 sheep were recovered*.

The Jigawa State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna A. Yahaya, psc, mnips, has continued to record remarkable operational successes in its sustained onslaught against criminal elements threatening the peace and security of the state.

The Command, in its unwavering commitment towards protecting lives and property, has successfully arrested several suspects involved in cases of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, armed robbery, theft, and animal rustling across the state.

On 22nd May 2026, detectives from the State Intelligence Department, arrested one Musa (alias Kala) ‘m’ age 45yrs of Fateka Settlement, Manu Abdullahi ‘m’ age 30yrs of Mashin Bura Village, Malam Madori LGA, and Yusuf Ibrahim ‘m’ age 35yrs of Marke Village, Kaugama LGA. The suspects were arrested at their various home towns. The suspects were alleged to have been involved in a series of armed robbery operations perpetrated within the Hadejia Emirate. Immediately, when a search was conducted at the premises of Yusuf Ibrahim, a fabricated AK 47 rifle was recovered as an exhibit. Investigation into the matter is ongoing with a view to apprehending other fleeing members of the syndicate, and recovery of more operational weapons.

On 23rd May 2026, the Command uncovered a criminal conspiracy and kidnapping plot by one Adamu Gari ‘m’ age 55yrs of Zabo Kafi Village, Kafin Hausa LGA and one Abdullahi Adamu ‘m’ age 40 years of Fatiske Village, Jama’are LGA of Bauchi State. Preliminary investigation revealed that the duo and other syndicate members allegedly kidnapped two individuals from Jama'are town, Bauchi state. Both the suspects were arrested in their hometown before the heinous act could be executed. The suspects are currently assisting the police with useful information as the investigation continues.

On 23rd May 2026, at about 0524hrs, police operatives from Gwaram Division, acting on credible intelligence, arrested suspected thieves in connection with the theft of two sheep. The suspects are identified as Mustapha Badamasi 'm' age 30yrs of Innakawa village, Gwaram LGA and Khalid Zubairu 'm' age 20yrs of Kofar Kuka, Gwaram LGA. During the operation, the stolen animals were successfully recovered. A Bajaj motorcycle allegedly used by the suspects in carrying out their criminal activities was also recovered. The suspects are currently assisting the police in ongoing investigations.

In another operation, on 23rd May 2026, at about 1920hrs, operatives attached to Taura Division apprehended suspected animal rustlers and recovered four sheep believed to have been stolen. The swift intervention of the police led to the arrest of one Sulaiman Isa 'm' age 18yrs and one Ibrahim Muhammad 'm' age 30yrs both of Yanyanga Settlement, and the recovery of the animals before they could be disposed of by the suspects. Suspects were charged to court.

In another development, on 26/05/2026, credible intelligence at the Command’s disposal indicated that a notorious syndicate terrorizing motorists along Ringim–Chaichai Road had mounted an illegal roadblock with the intention of committing armed robbery. Upon receipt of the information, a team of detectives was immediately drafted to the scene where one Haruna Adamu was arrested on the spot, while two other accomplices namely Ja’o Muhammad ‘m’ age 55yrs of Komaye Village, Ringim LGA, and Ja’o Sabo ‘m’ of Ringim LGA, were subsequently apprehended during follow-up operations. Investigation is ongoing.

On 27th May 2026, at about 0830hrs, the Command also recorded a breakthrough in an armed robbery case following the recovery of a Boxer motorcycle earlier robbed from its owner by criminal elements. Through combined efforts between police and vigilantes, the motorcycle was recovered. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend all suspects connected with the crime.

Similarly, on 29th May 2026, at about 2030hrs, police operatives recovered another Boxer motorcycle at Laraba village in Dutse LGA after suspected criminal elements abandoned it and fled upon sighting security personnel. Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects intended to use the motorcycle in carrying out unlawful activities. The motorcycle has been secured while efforts are underway to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects.

The Commissioner of Police commends the officers involved in these successful operations and reiterates the Command's unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property throughout the state. He further urges members of the public to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information that will aid in preventing and detecting crimes.

JIGAWA POLICE RECORDS OPERATIONAL SUCCESSES AND ARREST OF SUSPECTS
..*As motor vehicle, 4 motorcycles, 7 cows, 3 sheep, and over 5000 illicit drugs were recovered.*

The Jigawa State Police Command has recorded remarkable operational achievements in its sustained fight against crimes and criminality across the state through intelligence-led policing, community collaboration, and proactive crime prevention strategies.

In a series of coordinated operations carried out by officers and men of the Command, several suspects were arrested while stolen exhibits and illicit drugs were successfully recovered.

On 15th May 2026, at about 0800hrs, police operatives, in collaboration with a local vigilante group, arrested Isiyaku Isah 'm' age 26yrs of Mariri village, Birnin Kudu LGA, and Musa Yakubu 'm' age 25yrs of Babaldu town, Birnin Kudu LGA, in connection with criminal conspiracy, theft, and receiving stolen property. The suspects were apprehended in possession of one red Boxer motorcycle reasonably suspected to have been stolen. On investigation, suspects confessed to having stolen the said motorcycle from Dabar Lantana in Ningi LGA of Bauchi State. Efforts are on to trace the rightful owner of the recovered motorcycle and hand it over to him according to the law.

Similarly, on 19th May 2026, at about 2340hrs, operatives attached to Malam Madori Division, in collaboration with the neighborhood watch security, recovered two motorcycles, one cow, and three sheep while pursuing suspected thieves within the area. On sighting the police team, the suspects abandoned the exhibits and escaped into nearby bushes. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and trace the owners of the recovered properties.

In another breakthrough, on 19th May 2026, at about 1300hrs, one Emos Monday of Karshi via FCT Abuja was arrested in possession of a stolen motor vehicle. The suspect, who was entrusted by his company with one white Toyota Hiace bus bearing registration number APP 235 JM Lagos for an official trip to Kano State, dishonestly diverted and made away with the vehicle. Following credible intelligence, police operatives tracked and arrested the suspect while the stolen vehicle was successfully recovered.

Furthermore, on 21st May 2026, at about 1100hrs, police operatives arrested two suspects, namely Umar Garba 'm' age 22yrs of Kanti Gabas village via Kazaure LGA, and Abubakar Adam 'm' age 25yrs of Brigade Quarters, Kano State, for theft of a motorcycle. The suspects were found in possession of one red Daylong motorcycle suspected to have been stolen. Investigation revealed that the suspects had changed the original color of the motorcycle from red to black in an attempt to conceal its identity.

In another operation against cattle rustling, on 20th May 2026, at about 1200hrs, intelligence-led policing resulted in the interception of one white J5 motor vehicle bearing registration number HULL 68 along the Kano–Maiduguri road in Kiyawa LGA. The vehicle was loaded with four cows suspected to have been stolen. The following suspects were arrested in connection with the offence: Ukasha Abubakar 'm' age 30yrs of Danladi Nasidi Qtrs, Kano State; Alhaji Ali Ibrahim 'm' age 42yrs of Borno State; Ali Zakari 'm' age 20yrs of the same address; Mohammed Adamu 'm' age 40yrs of Kashori village, Itas Gadau LGA, Bauchi State; and Mohammed Usman 'm' age 50yrs of the same address. The operational vehicle and the recovered cows were taken into police custody as exhibits.

Likewise, on 22nd May 2026, at about 1330hrs, police operatives arrested Nabagara Bura 'm' age 20yrs and Sale Adamu 'm' age 25yrs, both from Tafa village in Bulangu district, in connection with criminal conspiracy and cattle rustling. The suspects were apprehended with two (2) cows reasonably suspected to have been stolen from Shanwure Village in Auyo Local Government Area.

Lastly, coordinated and simultaneous raids were carried out at criminal hideouts and black spots within the state. During the raids, five thousand eight hundred and eighty-six (5,886) assorted illicit drugs were recovered, and the sum of twenty-eight thousand seven hundred and fifty naira ( #28,750.00) was also recovered as proceeds. Among the suspected drug barons arrested are Audu Faruku 'm' age 30yrs of Sarkin Gandu village, via Sule Tankarkar LGA; Muntari Abdullahi 'm' age 28yrs of Babura Kofar Fada; Musbahu Ali 'm' age 35yrs of Bakin Kasuwa, Garki LGA; Alfa Mohd 'm' of Mazan Gudu village, Gabasawa LGA, Kano State; and Rabiu Hussaini 'm' age 30yrs of Hayin Yamma Qtrs, Kazaure LGA.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna A. Yahaya, commended the officers involved in the successful operations as well as members of the public and local vigilante groups for their continued support and cooperation with the police.

The Command reiterates its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state and urges residents to continue providing timely and credible information that will aid ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.

The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.

JIGAWA STATE POLICE COMMAND ASSURES ADEQUATE SECURITY DURING EID-EL-KABIR CELEBRATION

The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP Haruna A. Yahaya, psc, mnips, on behalf of officers and men of the Command, felicitates with the good people of Jigawa State and the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) celebration.

In line with the Command’s commitment towards ensuring a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free festive period, the Commissioner of Police wishes to assure residents that the Command has deployed robust security measures and activated all operational assets across the State to guarantee maximum security before, during, and after the celebration.

The Command has strategically deployed personnel from various tactical and conventional units, including the Violent Crime Response Unit, Patrol Teams, Intelligence Operatives, Traffic Officers, EOD & PMF Personnel, Undercover Operatives, and other operational assets to critical locations across the state such as Eid praying grounds, recreational centres, markets, highways, motor parks, and other public places.

The police, in collaboration with other security agencies and critical stakeholders, have intensified intelligence gathering, confidence-building patrols, stop-and-search operations, and surveillance activities aimed at preventing criminal activities and maintaining public peace and order throughout the festive period.

The Commissioner of Police further directs all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and supervising officers to remain vigilant, proactive, and professional in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities. They are also tasked with ensuring effective visibility policing and prompt response to distress calls within their Areas of Responsibility.

While congratulating the people of the state for witnessing another Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Command equally appeals to members of the public to remain law-abiding, security conscious, and cooperate with security personnel by providing timely and useful information that can assist in preventing crime and criminality.

Parents and guardians are advised to caution their wards against reckless driving, dangerous horse riding, substance abuse, and other acts capable of causing breach of peace during the celebration.

The Command reiterates its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and assures residents that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that Jigawa State remains peaceful and secure throughout the Sallah festivities.

CP HARUNA VISITS BIRNIN KUDU AREA COMMAND, ENGAGES STAKEHOLDERS, LECTURES OFFICERS, INSPECTS PROPOSED DIVISIONAL HEADQUARTERS AT IGGI DISTRICT.

In continuation of his strategic operational engagements and community policing drive across the state, today, Monday, 25th May 2006, the Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna A Yahaya, psc, mnips, paid a working tour visit to the Birnin Kudu Area Command aimed at strengthening security collaboration, enhancing operational efficiency, and promoting effective community-based policing.

Upon arrival at Birnin Kudu Local Government Council, the Commissioner of Police convened a strategic security meeting with the Chairmen of Birnin Kudu, Buji, and Gwaram Local Government Councils at the Birnin Kudu Local Government Secretariat.

Thereafter, the Commissioner of Police and his entourage proceeded to Birnin Kudu Area Command Headquarters, where he held a strategic stakeholders’ engagement with PCRC, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders, youths, transport unions, leadership of farmers and herders, local security agencies, market women, and other relevant stakeholders from across the Area Command.

The engagement focused on strengthening police-community partnership, intelligence sharing, proactive crime prevention, and the collective responsibility of maintaining peace and security within the three Local Government Areas under the Area Command.

While addressing the stakeholders, the Commissioner of Police emphasized the importance of community participation in policing activities, noting that sustainable security can only be achieved through synergy and mutual trust between the police and members of the public.

The CP appreciated the continued support and cooperation being extended to the police by Local Government authorities, traditional institutions, and community stakeholders, while urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information capable of aiding effective policing and crime prevention.

As part of the visit, the Commissioner of Police also delivered a lecture to officers and men of the Birnin Kudu Area Command. The lecture centered on professionalism, discipline, ethical conduct, intelligence-led policing, respect for human rights, and the need for improved service delivery in line with global best policing practices.

The CP charged officers to remain committed, disciplined, and professional in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities while maintaining cordial relationships with members of the communities they serve.

Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police embarked on an inspection tour of the proposed Divisional Headquarters at Iggi Village. The inspection was aimed at assessing the proposed facility and its strategic importance toward improving security coverage and bringing policing closer to the grassroots.

The Commissioner of Police expressed optimism that the establishment of the proposed Divisional Headquarters would greatly enhance crime prevention, intelligence gathering, rapid response capability, and overall security management within Iggi Village and adjoining communities.

JIGAWA POLICE RECORDS SIGNIFICANT OPERATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS IN CRIME-FIGHTING EFFORTS.

The Jigawa State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna A. Yahaya, psc, mnips, has continued to intensify efforts toward combating crimes and criminality across the state, resulting in notable operational successes recorded in various Divisions of the Command.

These achievements are in line with the strategic directives of the Inspector-General of Police, aimed at ensuring public safety, protecting lives and property, and maintaining law and order throughout the state.

The recent operational breakthroughs recorded by the Command are as follows:

1. Arrest of Suspects for Criminal Conspiracy, Fraud, and Recovery of Counterfeit USD in Shuwarin Division.
On 5th May, 2026, at about 1400hrs, acting on credible intelligence, operatives attached to Shuwarin Division successfully arrested two (2) suspects involved in criminal conspiracy and fraud-related offences along Gwari Road close to Shuwarin town. The suspects' identities are; Auwalu Kasim 'm' age 25yrs of Waza village, Birin Kudu LGA, and Umar Ahmed 'm' age 35yrs of Danbatta LGA, Kano state. During the operation, thirty-five (35) pieces of counterfeit United States Dollars (USD) were recovered from the suspects. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were allegedly involved in circulating fake foreign currency with intent to defraud a 42-year-old of Tudun Maliki Quarters, Kano State. Investigation is ongoing to uncover other accomplices and the source of the counterfeit currency.

2. Arrest of Suspect for Theft of Motorcycle and Recovery in Dutse Division.
On 12th May, 2026, at about 2235hrs, a report of a Lifan lady motorcycle theft around the area of Galadanchi Quarters was received at Dutse Division. Upon receipt of the report, operatives swiftly swung into action, and neighboring Divisions were alerted. On the same date at about 0200hrs, the following suspects allegedly linked with the crime were arrested: Abdulgaffar Ibrahim 'm' age 20yrs, and Abba Shu'aibu 'm' age 23yrs, both of Durbundai village, Takai LGA, Kano state. The stolen motorcycle was successfully recovered and has since been handed over to the rightful owner on bond. Suspects were charged in court for prosecution.

3. Arrest of Suspect for Car Theft and Recovery of Stolen Motor Vehicle in Gwaram Division.
In another development, officers attached to Gwaram Division arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of a white Hijet motor vehicle. The suspect who identified as Basiru Shayibu 'm' age 25yrs of Nasarawa village, Gwaram LGA, was arrested in possession of one master key. The vehicle was handed over to the rightful owner. The investigation has been completed. The suspect has since been charged in court for prosecution.

4. Arrest of Suspect for Criminal Trespass, Theft of Motorcycle, and Recovery in Gwaram Division.
Similarly, police operatives in Gwaram Division arrested one Isiyaku Adamu 'm' age 35yrs of Kofar Kuka Quarters, Gwaram LGA, for criminal trespass and theft of a hunter motorcycle. The suspect was apprehended after a swift response by officers, leading to the successful recovery of the stolen motorcycle. The case is under investigation, after which the suspect will be charged in court accordingly.

The Commissioner of Police commended the gallantry, professionalism, and dedication of officers involved in these operations and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to rid Jigawa State of all forms of criminal activities.

CP Haruna A. Yahaya further urged residents of the state to remain law-abiding and vigilant and continue to support the police by providing timely and credible information that will aid in crime prevention and detection.

The Command assures members of the public that it remains resolute in its mandate of safeguarding lives and property and will not relent in bringing perpetrators of crime to justice.

CP HARUNA VISITS RINGIM EMIRATE AND RINGIM AREA COMMAND, CALLS FOR COLLECTIVE ACTION AGAINST CRIME AND ELECTION VIOLENCE.

In line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, the Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP Haruna A. Yahaya, psc, mnips, has continued his familiarization and duty tour across the state with a visit to the Ringim Emirate and Rthe RingimArea Command.

During the visit, the Commissioner of Police and his entourage paid homage to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ringim, Alh. (Dr.) Sayyadi Abubakar Mahmoud Ringim, CON, where the Senior Councillor to the Emirate, the Chiroma of Ringim, warmly received the CP and his entourage on behalf of the Emirate Council.

The CP thereafter proceeded to the Ringim Local Government Secretariat, where he held a strategic security meeting with the Local Government Chairmen within the Ringim Emirate. Discussions during the meeting centered on strengthening security architecture within the emirate through enhanced synergy among security agencies, local authorities, and community leaders.

As part of the tour, the Commissioner of Police convened a Town Hall Meeting with critical stakeholders across the Emirate, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth representatives, students, road unions, human rights groups, vigilante groups, civilian JTF, community leaders, and other relevant stakeholders. The meeting provided an avenue for interactive discussions on prevailing security concerns and practical solutions to emerging threats within the area.

During the interactive session, the Commissioner of Police directed the Commander, CBRN-EOD Base 24, Dutse, to enlighten participants on safety measures and necessary precautions regarding Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and related threats. The sensitization focused on early detection, reporting mechanisms, and public safety responsibilities in preventing incidents associated with explosive materials.

In his remarks, CP Haruna A. Yahaya highlighted some of the prevalent crimes and social vices being recorded across Jigawa State and appealed to members of the public to collaborate with the police and other security agencies in addressing these challenges. The crimes highlighted include:

✓ Witchcraft-related violence and accusations
✓ R**e of minors
✓ Culpable homicide
✓ Use of sticks, machetes, and other dangerous weapons by youths to injure or kill others
✓ Traffic offences, including reckless driving, overloading, and speeding
✓ Deforestation and related environmental crimes

The Commissioner further cautioned the good people of Jigawa State to desist from all forms of election violence and related electoral offences, noting that electioneering activities are about to commence. He emphasized that the Police Command remains committed to ensuring peaceful and credible electoral processes throughout the state and will not tolerate acts capable of disrupting public peace.

The CP also addressed officers and men of the Ringim Area Command at the Area Command Headquarters, where he charged them to remain disciplined, professional, and committed to the core mandates of the Nigeria Police Force. He equally conveyed the Inspector-General of Police’s message on professionalism, intelligence-led policing, and improved service delivery.

In continuation of the tour, the Commissioner of Police paid a courtesy visit to the retired Inspector-General of Police, IGP Hafizu Ringim (rtd.), at his residence, where he sought fatherly advice and guidance in advancing policing and security administration in the state.

CP HARUNA PRESENTS A PAPER ON COMMUNITY POLICING AND COMMUNITY-BASED INTELLIGENCE GATHERING INITIATIVES TO THE PARTICIPANTS OF AFCSC COURSE 48.

The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Police Command, CP Haruna A. Yahaya, psc, mnips, today, Wednesday, 13th May, 2026, presented a comprehensive paper titled *"Community Policing and Community-Based Intelligence Gathering Initiatives"* to the participants of Course 48 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, during their study tour to Jigawa State.

The study tour team, comprising members of AFCSC Course 48, was led by the Team leader, Brig. Gen. B O Omopariola, and Team Coordinator, Navy Captain B A Bassey.

The presentation formed part of the academic and strategic study activities of the participants aimed at exposing them to practical security management approaches, interagency collaboration frameworks, and community-driven policing initiatives adopted in maintaining internal security and public safety.

In his presentation, CP Haruna A. Yahaya emphasized that community policing has become an indispensable policing strategy in modern law enforcement due to its ability to strengthen mutual trust, confidence, and cooperation between security agencies and members of the public. He noted that sustainable peace and security can only be achieved through active participation and support from all segments of society.

The CP explained that the Nigeria Police Force has continued to prioritize intelligence-led and community-driven policing strategies under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP. Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, with an emphasis on proactive crime prevention, information sharing, and strategic engagement with critical stakeholders.

He further highlighted the various community-based intelligence gathering mechanisms being implemented by the Jigawa State Police Command, including regular town hall meetings; stakeholders’ engagement forums; collaboration with traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths, students, women's groups, vigilante groups, hunters, civilian JTF, forest guards, and other community-based security structures.

The CP reiterates that the Command has continued to record operational successes through credible intelligence provided by members of the public, leading to the prevention and detection of crimes such as armed robbery/motorcycle snatching, drug abuse, r**e, culpable homicide, farmers/herders conflict, mob action, and other criminal activities.

The CP stressed that intelligence remains the bedrock of effective policing and urged communities to sustain their cooperation with security agencies by providing timely and useful information capable of preventing threats to peace and security.

The CP also commended the leadership of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, particularly the Commandant, Air Vice Marshal Alfred Olugbenga Shogbanmu, for the college's continuous contribution towards developing strategic military and security leadership in Nigeria. He described the study tour as a valuable platform for experience sharing, professional interaction, and strengthening synergy among security institutions.

The Jigawa State Police Command remains committed to strengthening community policing initiatives, enhancing intelligence-gathering mechanisms, and sustaining collaboration with sister security agencies and stakeholders towards ensuring lasting peace, safety, and security across the state.
