ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS, ARMED ROBBERS, THIEVES, AND CATTLE RUSTLERS
..*One fabricated AK-47 rifle, 3 motorcycles, and 6 sheep were recovered*.
The Jigawa State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna A. Yahaya, psc, mnips, has continued to record remarkable operational successes in its sustained onslaught against criminal elements threatening the peace and security of the state.
The Command, in its unwavering commitment towards protecting lives and property, has successfully arrested several suspects involved in cases of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, armed robbery, theft, and animal rustling across the state.
On 22nd May 2026, detectives from the State Intelligence Department, arrested one Musa (alias Kala) ‘m’ age 45yrs of Fateka Settlement, Manu Abdullahi ‘m’ age 30yrs of Mashin Bura Village, Malam Madori LGA, and Yusuf Ibrahim ‘m’ age 35yrs of Marke Village, Kaugama LGA. The suspects were arrested at their various home towns. The suspects were alleged to have been involved in a series of armed robbery operations perpetrated within the Hadejia Emirate. Immediately, when a search was conducted at the premises of Yusuf Ibrahim, a fabricated AK 47 rifle was recovered as an exhibit. Investigation into the matter is ongoing with a view to apprehending other fleeing members of the syndicate, and recovery of more operational weapons.
On 23rd May 2026, the Command uncovered a criminal conspiracy and kidnapping plot by one Adamu Gari ‘m’ age 55yrs of Zabo Kafi Village, Kafin Hausa LGA and one Abdullahi Adamu ‘m’ age 40 years of Fatiske Village, Jama’are LGA of Bauchi State. Preliminary investigation revealed that the duo and other syndicate members allegedly kidnapped two individuals from Jama'are town, Bauchi state. Both the suspects were arrested in their hometown before the heinous act could be executed. The suspects are currently assisting the police with useful information as the investigation continues.
On 23rd May 2026, at about 0524hrs, police operatives from Gwaram Division, acting on credible intelligence, arrested suspected thieves in connection with the theft of two sheep. The suspects are identified as Mustapha Badamasi 'm' age 30yrs of Innakawa village, Gwaram LGA and Khalid Zubairu 'm' age 20yrs of Kofar Kuka, Gwaram LGA. During the operation, the stolen animals were successfully recovered. A Bajaj motorcycle allegedly used by the suspects in carrying out their criminal activities was also recovered. The suspects are currently assisting the police in ongoing investigations.
In another operation, on 23rd May 2026, at about 1920hrs, operatives attached to Taura Division apprehended suspected animal rustlers and recovered four sheep believed to have been stolen. The swift intervention of the police led to the arrest of one Sulaiman Isa 'm' age 18yrs and one Ibrahim Muhammad 'm' age 30yrs both of Yanyanga Settlement, and the recovery of the animals before they could be disposed of by the suspects. Suspects were charged to court.
In another development, on 26/05/2026, credible intelligence at the Command’s disposal indicated that a notorious syndicate terrorizing motorists along Ringim–Chaichai Road had mounted an illegal roadblock with the intention of committing armed robbery. Upon receipt of the information, a team of detectives was immediately drafted to the scene where one Haruna Adamu was arrested on the spot, while two other accomplices namely Ja’o Muhammad ‘m’ age 55yrs of Komaye Village, Ringim LGA, and Ja’o Sabo ‘m’ of Ringim LGA, were subsequently apprehended during follow-up operations. Investigation is ongoing.
On 27th May 2026, at about 0830hrs, the Command also recorded a breakthrough in an armed robbery case following the recovery of a Boxer motorcycle earlier robbed from its owner by criminal elements. Through combined efforts between police and vigilantes, the motorcycle was recovered. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend all suspects connected with the crime.
Similarly, on 29th May 2026, at about 2030hrs, police operatives recovered another Boxer motorcycle at Laraba village in Dutse LGA after suspected criminal elements abandoned it and fled upon sighting security personnel. Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects intended to use the motorcycle in carrying out unlawful activities. The motorcycle has been secured while efforts are underway to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner of Police commends the officers involved in these successful operations and reiterates the Command's unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property throughout the state. He further urges members of the public to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information that will aid in preventing and detecting crimes.
