Katsina Academy Players Storm Portugal for IBER CUP 2026

Seven young players from the Katsina State Football Academy will participate in the prestigious IBER CUP 2026 scheduled to hold in Cascais, Portugal, from March 31 to April 5.

The players will feature in the 2010 11v11 Elite category in partnership with Moonluck FC, Lagos, as they seek to showcase their talents on the global stage.

Speaking on the development, the Chairman of Katsina State Football Academy, Ahmed Mohammed, said the tournament presents a major opportunity for the players to secure professional contracts and gain international exposure.

He noted that the competition will bring together top youth teams across the world, including sides like SV Werder Bremen of Germany, UD Almeria of Spain, and Phoenix Rising Stars of the United States.

According to him, the young players will also compete in a tournament that features global football giants such as Manchester United, FC Porto, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Mohammed added that the participation is not only about competition but also about putting Katsina State on the global football map.

“This is a big opportunity for our players to showcase their talent, win prizes and attract international attention. It is also a chance to project Katsina as a hub for football development,” he said.

The academy chairman disclosed that scouting program will commenced in Katsina early by Malta Tonio D’Amato and Belarus. Adding that Kabir Muhammad Kabir will sign a professional contract with Armenian Based Club in June.

“There is also an opportunity for Katsina secondary school students to get scholarships in USA and Europe through football following a soccer combine program in Summer,” Muhammad noted.

The academy chairman, however, expressed confidence in the team’s ability to perform well and make Nigeria proud at the tournament.

Governor Radda Expresses Shock Over Passing of Katsina Water Board MD Tingilin

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden passing of Engr. Tukur Hassan Tinglin, the Managing Director of the Katsina State Water Board.

Engr. Tingilin, yesterday, involved in an auto accident leading to his death.

Governor Radda described the death as a rude shock, noting that Engr. Tinglin’s leadership as Managing Director of the State Water Board was marked by pure service to the people even till his last breath. Under his guidance, efforts to ensure that clean water reached every household in Katsina were greatly intensified and sustained.

The Governor takes solace in the fact that Engr. Tinglin passed away as a faithful Muslim during the holy month of Ramadan.

Governor Radda, on behalf of the government and the people of Katsina State, extends heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Managing Director and the people of Malumfashi local government. He prays to Allah to grant them the strength and fortitude to bear this monumental loss.

Katsina State Governor Calls for Prayers for Peace Katsina

The Governor of Katsina State, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda,PhD,CON has urged the residents of Katsina to include the state in their prayers during the period of breaking their fast.

The Governor made this call today during the launch of Ramadan support, presented by Honorable Umar Ali Bindawa, a member of the State Assembly, in his constituency.During the event, the member of the state assembly distributed 1,000 bags of soybeans and white beans to 1,000 women, along with ₦10,000 each for their empowerment.

He also allocated ₦50,000 to 200 youth to assist them in starting small businesses and provided 100 bags of millet and maize to other community members in Bindawa Local Government Area.

Additionally, he donated five vehicles to the leadership of the APC in Bindawa to facilitate their operations

Governor Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda praised the lawmaker, stating that his knowledge was beneficial in identifying deserving individuals.He commended him for consistently supporting his community throughout the year.

The Governor emphasized the importance of the people of Katsina remaining steadfast in their prayers for peace in the state.In his closing remarks, he promised to repair the road connecting Bindawa to Doro as soon as resources allow during his administration.

He expressed gratitude to all the attendees, including community leaders and citizens.Prominent guests at the event included the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, the House members, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, the Deputy Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Mudassir Mati Kusada, the Chairman of Bindawa Local Government, Hon. Badaru Giremawa, and several executive council members.
