Governor Buni Sets the Pace in Implementing the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme (RHWDP)

…as Yobe State enrolls prospective beneficiaries across 178 wards in 17 LGAs

While preparations are still ongoing for the national rollout of the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme (RHWDP)—a strategic partnership between the Federal and State Governments— His Excellency Mai Mala Buni, has taken decisive steps to fast-track implementation in Yobe State.

In clear demonstration of his commitment to supporting the economic reforms of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Governor directed the accelerated commencement of enrolment by providing the necessary institutional and logistical support to the State RHWDP Coordination Office. This proactive approach ensures that economically active citizens of Yobe State are enrolled through an equitable, inclusive, and transparent process, fully aligned with the President’s vision of driving grassroots economic development across Nigeria.

Governor Buni, who also serves as a member of the National Steering Committee of the RHWDP representing the North-East Governors, has further demonstrated strong political will by directing that unemployed youths, smallholder farmers, and owners of Micro and Small Enterprises be prioritised in the targeting and enrolment of beneficiaries. This directive reflects the economic realities of Yobe State and the core objectives of the RHWDP as conceived under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

In line with these directives, the Yobe State RHWDP Coordination Office, between 16th and 20th January 2026, successfully enrolled over 80,000 prospective beneficiaries across the State’s 178 wards. The data has been validated and is now ready for submission to the National RHWDP Portal.

Even as other states await the full national rollout, Governor Buni has demonstrated that there is no time to waste in empowering the people of Yobe State. As part of this commitment, he approved the training of over 1,000 youths in technology-enabled data collection and survey administration. These trained youths subsequently conducted the enrolment exercise within their respective wards—creating jobs, strengthening local ownership, and fostering trust and confidence in the programme among communities.

This bold and people-centred leadership once again positions Yobe State as a front-runner in translating national economic reforms into real, measurable benefits at the grassroots, reinforcing Governor Buni’s shared vision with President Tinubu for inclusive growth and sustainable economic empowerment

In Potistum LGA, the YOBE RHWDP team led by the LGA Coordinator Abdul Atiyaye are passionately complying with the Standards for beneficiaries targeting and enrolment, as prescribed by H.E Governor Mai Mala Buni.

Context-specific, equitable, inclusive, transparent and accountable - these are the standards applied in the process across all the 178 wards in the state.

In BADE LGA the Executive Chairman led the Yobe RHWDP beneficiaries enrolment team to flag- off the exercise in Gashua, being Staurday 17th January 2026.

In Bursari LGA also, the ongoing RHWDP enrolment exercise has been transparent inclusive and rancour-free. This is the standard across the 17 LGAs, as directed by our Governor.

Yobe RHWDP Commences step- down training for Ward Coordinators and Enumerators on Data collection and survey administration, ahead of targeting and enrolment exercise...
..as State Coordinator monitored exercise in Damaturu and Gujba LGAs.

The training of 1,085 youth comprising of 890 enumerators, 178 Ward Coordinators and 17 LGA Coordinators on data collection and survey administration, as directed by Governor Mai Mala.Buni has commenced on Thursday 15th January 2026 across the 17 LGAs in Yobe State. The training which follows a Training of Trainers earlier conducted, was to step-down the skills to 5 selected young persons in each of 178 political wards, for the targeting and enrolment of prospective beneficiaries into the Renewed Hope Ward Development Program in the state, through a transparent, inclusive and technology enabled process.

The trained enumerators and their Ward Coordinator will be deployed to the field immediately, commencing from Friday 16th January, 2026 to target and enrol eligible individuals as prescribed by the program guidelines.
