MIXED FEELINGS AS THREE WEEKS OF FRIENDSHIP AND MEMORIES GIVE WAY TO A NEW CHAPTER

The NYSC 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Camp in Dazigau, Nangere Local Government Area of Yobe State, witnessed a mix of emotions as some Corps Members jubilated over the successful completion of the three-week orientation course, while others were visibly emotional about parting ways with friends and colleagues with whom they had shared memorable experiences.
Delivering the address of the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General O. O. Nafiu, the State Coordinator, NYSC Yobe State, Mr. Okochi Okpara, charged Corps Members to remain security-conscious, conduct themselves as good ambassadors of the Scheme, and understand that there is no immunity for anyone who engages in criminal activities during the service year.
He further urged them to remain politically neutral and refrain from using social media or other platforms to advance political interests.
The Director-General cautioned Corps Members against unauthorized journeys and advised that, even when travel is duly approved, night journeys should be avoided. He also called on Corps Employers to warmly receive Corps Members posted to their establishments and provide an enabling environment for them to serve effectively and contribute meaningfully to their host communities.
He expressed appreciation to the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and all stakeholders for their unwavering support for the NYSC Scheme and the successful conduct of the orientation course.
Concluding the address, the State Coordinator, on behalf of the Director-General, officially declared the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course closed and wished all Corps Members a safe, successful, rewarding, and fruitful service year.

Serve Diligently, Serve With Pride”: DG Assures Corps Members of Continued Support

The NYSC 2026 Batch B Stream II Orientation Camp, Dazigau, Nangere Local Government Area, Yobe State, concluded its debriefing session with a strong charge from the Director-General, NYSC, Brigadier General O.O. Nafiu, urging Corps Members to serve diligently and with pride as they proceed to the next phase of their national service.

The DG assured the Corps Members of the Scheme’s continued support and an enabling environment throughout their service year, encouraging them to uphold discipline, remain committed to their responsibilities, and make meaningful contributions to their host communities.

He reminded them that their service represents an opportunity to demonstrate patriotism, build valuable experience, and contribute to national development while conducting themselves as worthy ambassadors of the NYSC Scheme.

When Culture Speaks, Unity Answers: Dazigau Celebrates Nigeria’s Rich Heritage

The NYSC 2026 Batch B Stream II Orientation Camp, Dazigau, Nangere Local Government Area, Yobe State, came alive with colour, tradition, and national unity during its Cultural Grand Finale, declared open by the State Coordinator, NYSC Yobe State, Mr. Okochi Okpara, who aptly observed that “a soul without culture is a missing one.” The carnival showcased Nigeria’s diverse heritage through traditional dances, cuisine, marriage customs, farming practices, and political traditions, offering Corps Members a vibrant reflection of the country’s cultural richness.

Adding a personal touch to the celebration, Mr. Okpara, an Igbo by ethnic background and a strong advocate of national unity, proudly appeared in the crown of Ardo, a title bestowed on him by the Fulani Cultural Troupe during the previous camp. His appearance symbolized the power of cultural appreciation, peaceful coexistence, and the unity that the NYSC Scheme seeks to foster among Nigerians from different backgrounds.

Following keenly contested cultural displays, Platoon 10 emerged first with 77.3 points, showcasing Yoruba culture, while Platoon 3 scored 77 points to take second position with a presentation of Kare-Kare culture. Platoon 5 came third with 76.3 points, portraying Tiv culture. Before the results were announced, the NYSC Band delivered a special display demonstrating unity, precision, discipline, and teamwork, followed by an impressive presentation by the Man O’ War Special Squad and a spectacular display by the gallant men of the Nigerian Army, bringing the cultural celebration to a memorable climax.

YOUR CERTIFICATE MAY GET YOU A JOB, BUT YOUR SKILLS WILL KEEP YOU GOING”: SAED CLOSES ON A HIGH NOTE IN DAZIGAU

The NYSC 2026 Batch B Stream II Orientation Camp, Dazigau, Nangere Local Government Area, Yobe State, brought its SAED in-camp training to a close with a colourful exhibition of skills and entrepreneurship. The programme featured practical displays across all skills and competitions in only five skill areas, with different platoons competing to demonstrate creativity, competence, and innovation. In Fashion Design, Platoon 3 emerged first, Platoon 1 second, while Platoons 4 and 5 shared third position; Food Processing was won by Platoon 9, followed by Platoon 7 and Platoon 1; while Leather Work saw Platoon 1 take first, Platoon 4 second and Platoon 2 third.

In Makeup, Platoon 3 secured first position, Platoon 4 second and Platoon 2 third, while Bead and Wear Work was won by Platoon 6, with Platoon 4 and Platoon 1 taking second and third positions respectively. The exhibition demonstrated the practical value of the skills acquired during the training and reinforced the importance of creativity and self-reliance beyond the service year.

In her closing remarks, the Head of SAED, Haj. Maryam Yahaya, appreciated the State Coordinator, the entire management of the scheme, trainers and Corps Members for their participation and commitment, after which the State Coordinator, NYSC Yobe State, Mr. Okochi Okpara, officially declared the training closed. Addressing the Corps Members, he stressed: “Your certificate may give you a job, but looking at the nature of Nigeria, before you get the job, you need something to sustain your life—and that is the skill.” He urged them to learn while the opportunity is free and avoid regretting later, reminding them that practical skills can provide a lifeline, create employment, and open doors to sustainable livelihoods.
