Yobe Govt Empowers Vulnerable Persons With Granding Machines in Geidam, Yunusari LGAs

The Hon Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Dr Mairo Ahmed Amshi has flagged-off the distribution of Granding Machines to 25 vulnerable persons in Geidam and Yunusari local government areas of the state.

Dr Mairo Ahmed Amshi while speaking during the flagging-off of the event in Geidam said the gesture was meant to helped the beneficiaries to be self-reliance.

The Commissioner represented by the Director Finance of the ministry said the program was part of Governor Mai Mala Buni's administration periority for recovery and empowerment measures for resilience and self-reliance.
She urged all the beneficiaries to make good use of this items to cushion the effects of vulnerability and secure it as a means of economic livelihood opportunity for survival.

The beneficiaries thanked the Yobe State government, the Commissioner and all those who supported the initiative.

EndSARS: Gov. Buni Supports Road Transport Owners With N16m

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni CON, has presented N1m cash each to sixteen members of the National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) Yobe State chapter, as part of government support for the victims of EndSARS protests.

Governor Buni while presenting the cash to the members of the association said the token is to symphatized with those affected by the unfortunate EndSARS protests in the state.

Represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Dr Mairo Ahmed Amshi MFR, Governor Buni commended the association for their support and understanding assuring the commitment of his administration to carry everyone along.

He noted that the state government is aware of the important role NARTO is playing in the economy of the state and the nation at large in the transport sector.

The State Chairman of NARTO, Alhaji Mohammed Umar commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for the cash assistance and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management for the initiative.

RHI: First lady sets to empower 250 elderly persons with N100, 000, other supports in Yobe

The first Lady of the federal republic of Nigeria Senator Oluremi Tinubu will under her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) programme provide grants of N100, 000 to 250 in Yobe State.

This was disclosed by the commissioner ministry of Humanitarian affairs and disaster management Dr Mairo Ahmed Amshi MFR while briefing journalist at the conference Hall of the Advisers Office in Damaturu said the programme would simultaneously take place across the 36 states of the federation under Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) foundation.

Dr Mai Ahmed Amshi MFR said the first lady Sen. Oluremi Tinubu also encouraged first ladies of the 36 states to used the opportunity to organize free medical screening exercise on Diabetes, eye screening for glacoma , cataracts and blood pressure test for elderly persons in their respective states

According to the commissioner the Renewed hope initiative Yobe State chapter would established and maintain stabilities, peace and care in families and society through total transformation in the lives of the women across the country.

She further said the renewed hope initiative has the vision to globally orient Nigerian women in knowledge, skills attitude and competencies for successful life and brighter future.

Dr Mairo Ahmed Amshi added that the invitative has a goals of bringing individuals out of poverty, eduacting them and guiding them towards better life for their families.

The Commissioner used the medium and commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his numerous support towards the realization of the Renewed hope Initiative in the state.

The commissioner also assured that the event will take place tomorrow the 21 of December 2023 at a location chose by the first Lady of the respective states by 10AM simultaneously.

She called on journalist especially local media to aired jingles, news contents and programmes to inform the general public on the new development.

Action Against Hunger Visits Yobe's Humanitarian Commissioner Over Collaboration


The officials of the Action Against Hunger (ACF) yesterday visited the Commissioner Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Dr Mairo Ahmed Amshi with a view to strengthen the collaboration for effective interventions.

Dr Mairo Ahmed Amshi while receiving the officials commended them for the visit adding that such effort is key in improving understanding for better progress.

Commissioner said as a Ministry charge with the responsibility of coordinating activities of iNGOS, NGOs among other, they will continue to work with development partners for the benefit of the people especially vulnerable persons.

She said as the year 2023 is coming to an end, there is the need to review interventions with a view to avoid duplication of responsibility by and to Tally with government vision and mission.

Earlier speaking, the Field Coordinator of the organisation, Miss Aishatu Abba Lawan said ACF have the three offices in Yobe with five different project code named, HERON Project, ECHO Project, GAG Project and the RRM.

Highlight of the visit was the Presentation of a gift to the Hon. Commissioner by the team lead.

Yobe Humanitarian Affairs Ministry Defends 2024 Budgets Before State Assembly
The Commissioner Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Dr Mairo Ahmed Amshi MFR and the principal officers of the ministry have appeared before the state House of Assembly Committee on Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management for the defence of the 2024 Budgets proposal.

The Commissioner has while defending the budget dwelled extensively on key areas of Humanitarian aid and intervention by Ministry across the state and appealed for additional fund to support some keys activities in the 2024 fiscal year budgets.

She said the main focus of the ministry on social protection, provision of food relief and livelihood support packages to affected to the less privileged among other victims remain unchange.

"The first prayer, we look into Food Security, that is to procured and purchase of assorted foods stuff for distribution to cushion the affecte of subsidy removal.

"The research conducted said provides 4.4 millions people are faced with severe hunger in the Bay states, that is Borno Adamawa and Yobe State hence the need for more support."

During the defence, the Committee looks at both recurrent and capital expenditures and different governmental organisations under the ministry.

Yobe, C3HD, FOOGEMOV Train MDAs, CSOs, Others On GBV, Drugs Abuse, Peace Building

The Yobe State government in collaboration with Centre for Child Care and Development (C3HD) as well as Forum for Promotion of MORAL Values (FOOGEMOV) has organised a one day capacity building to some selected Ministries, Agencies and Departments (MDAs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) among others on Gender Based Violence and peace among farmers and headers in the state.

The Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Dr Mairo Ahmed Amshi while declaring the training open said the capacity building and engagement was meant to bequeth the participants with the required knowledge on issues of GBV and peace through Multi- Sectoral approach.

Dr. Mairo Ahmed Amshi MFR said the ministry considers the capacity building funded by UN Women and implemented by C3HD, FOOGEMOV as vital in realising the set objectives.

She said as a Ministry mandated to coordinate and supervised all activities of NGOs including iNGOs will continue to expand collaboration for mutual benefit.

"This capacity building is mainly for peace because once we have peace everything is achievable.

"Yobe is among the state devastated by the activities of Boko Haram insurgents and because of the efforts of the ministry and development partners many vulnerable people get support especially those affected by a Gender Based Violence, Child Abuse and Child Pregnancy and supported through a program based on the meaningful contribution from MDA'S values programs.

Mr. Mujibullah the Executive Director for C3HD Presented a paper on Integrated Services for Women and Girls Affected by Conflict, Identification of Challenges and Gaps in Current Services Delivery.

An advisory Committee for advocacy and community engagement in four local government and Emirate Councils for farmer/hearder clash, Gender Based Violence and Drugs Abuse among Youths were inaugurated.

Yobe Graduate 250 Skill Acquisition Trainees in Buniyadi.

The Commissioner Yobe State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Dr Mairo Ahmed Amshi MFR, has supervised the graduation ceremony of the first set of 250 skills acquisition trainees in Buniyadi, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Represented by the Director Planning of the ministry, Hajiya Hauwa Sani, the Commissioner stated that the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the central management platform for the administration and coordination of the state government programmes, under the ministry.

She stressed that Buniyadi is one of the communities affected by the Boko Haram insurgency in the state. Hence, the programme was aimed at uplifting the socio-economic well-being of the populace.

The Commissioner applauded the UNDP for their support and partnership with the Yobe State government.

Some of the participants had undergone training on skills such as tailoring, knitting, baking, and embroidery designs.

Other trades include barbing, GSM repair, soap making, as well as hairdressing .

Meanwhile, the representative of the Gujba Emirate Council has commended the Ministry for always supporting women and youths through their various programmes.

Highlights of the event were display of various products fabricated by the trainees.
