YSPHCB, Lafiya UK Review PHC Performance Across Yobe
The Yobe State Primary Healthcare Board (YSPHCB), with support from Lafiya UK, today Wednesday, 29th July 2026, held its Bi-Annual Primary Healthcare (PHC) Performance Review Meeting at Desert Multi-Purpose Hall, Damaturu.
The meeting, chaired by the Honourable Commissioner, Yobe State Ministry of Health and Human Services, Dr. Muhammad Lawan Gana, represented by the Director of Family Health, Dr. Babagana Abba, focused on assessing progress, identifying gaps, strengthening accountability, and improving the delivery of quality PHC services across the state.
In his welcome address, the Executive Secretary of YSPHCB, Dr. Babagana Kundi Machina, emphasized the importance of regular performance reviews in tracking achievements, addressing gaps, and ensuring better health outcomes for the people of Yobe State.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the WHO State Coordinator, Dr. Alhassan Hamisu Dama, on behalf of development partners, and Alh. Zannah Umar on behalf of Lafiya UK.
The meeting featured presentations on overall PHC performance, LGA-specific performance reviews, and key priority actions to strengthen implementation and follow-up.
The Director, Community and Family Health, Alh. Ibrahim Maikasuwa FSI, outlined the way forward, while the Director, Essential Drugs, Vaccine and Logistics, Pharmacist Halima Usman Alkhamees, delivered the closing remarks.
The review further emphasized the active participation of key PHC officers, including the Director PHC, MCH Coordinator, LIO, M&E Officer, and Nutrition Focal Person, to strengthen coordination, monitoring, reporting, and implementation.
