All I Wanted Was To Change The Direction Of Kebbi Politics For The Better
By Dr. Abubakar Udu Idris, mni
Now that the election proper has been concluded and despite the declaration of the gubernatorial result inconclusive, the botommline is the PRP has loss the election at the two ties of the election in the State. Like I said severally, what we had last Saturday was an auction not election as we knew it. Yet, l strongly believe we could still do better if not for internal and external challenges.
But we mustn't rush to judgement just yet for there shall come a time when we sit to discuss and hopefully document the events leading to our poor performance. But, l hold the belief that what ever happened is destined to happen and whosoever did or didn't do what ever is only used as instrument for the fulfilment of devine-will.
Yes, we had assiduously worked to win but it wasn't meant to be. Thus, we should drive sonance in the fact the that not all that we seek and strived to achieve is good for us at the time we needed and selflessly worked for it. I have seen the result of this election as divinely.
By Allah, l contested this election to turn around the fortunes of our our dear State and that of our teeming population. I have no self-seeking interest but to change the direction of our palpable steady moves towards perdition. But the electorate think otherwise. So be it! But, I am confident that history will vindicate us.
In the main time, l would like to use this momentous occasion to express my profound appreciation to all those who contributed to the building of our great party and electioneering campaign in the last years, months and days gone by. For me, l have nothing to regret or lament. I have done what l could and given the same chance and circumstance, l will do it all over again. We mustn't ogonise of an event we could not possibly change to our liking. In the words of the late Iron Chancellor of Germany, 'The river of history flows as it will and if l used my hands, l only intend to change the direction of the water flow but not the flow in itself'. Allah ya kara yi muna jagora.
Regards and many thanks to you all.
