Politics: Who gets what, when, and how"...Harold lesswell

Whether you like it or not, politics is to a great extent about money. In the 1930s, Harold Lasswell reputably defined politics as a competition about who gets what, when, and how. The core of politics in developed democratic countries rivets around the money – around the rate of taxation and utilization of collected money. Since the Second World War, we have witnessed a steady rise in the volume of resources countries collect from their citizens through the levied taxes. Nowadays, almost 40% of economic value created in developed countries thus passes – one way or another - through taxes and state budgets. Politics resolves how such resources will be used.

What public services should the state provide to its citizens? How dense should a social network be? How much to spend on schools? How much is spent on health care? Should the citizens share in its costs? How high should retirement money be? Should ma*****na be legalized, and does a woman have the right to decide on her own whether to undergo abortion? Can the state seize a property designated for a construction of highways? Or a property designated for a construction of a new office? Is entrepreneurship given priority to environment? Is social equality given priority to the freedom of enterprise? Are the terms right-wing and left-wing politics relevant nowadays? Why has there been a continuous decline in the number of citizens joining political parties? What do the populist movements bring to politics?

*The Simple Agenda: The Manifesto of Hope*

HOUSING

The “SIMPLE” Agenda will encourage the Public-Private-Partnership initiative in the provision of decent housing units for people in the state.

• Government will supply quality housing through a policy for social housing for the poor and the vulnerable, and develop affordable houses for workers in the state.

• Access to affordable mortgages at single-digit interest rates will be pursued.

• We shall create new Government Reservation Areas (G.R.A) by allocating land, providing infrastructure (including road networks) and inviting reputable developers to take over such areas at reasonable cost to government and the affected communities.

• These policies would lead to the creation of additional 10,000 new construction related jobs in the economy.

Edo Residents In High Spirit As APC Is Set To Flag Off Campaign On Saturday.

Edo residents are upbeat about the flag–off of the APC Governorship campaign set for Saturday, August 8 2020.

The streets of Benin City is currently bubbling with enthusiasm as residents await the Grand take-off of the APC Governoship campaigns.

“This year, more people are turning out to participate in the Edo 2020 Governorship election for a simple reason: They too BELIEVE Edo can Move FORWARD. They have responded to Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s SIMPLE AGENDA”

Today pictures of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in a meeting with the APC national caretaker committee and the APC Governors in Abuja went viral and the reactions were priceless.

Aside from the storming of Benin City by the APC Governors, President Buhari is expected to give a live telebroadcast to the good citizens of Edo State.

Already Benin City is agog as different thousands of support groups are presently in competition to receive the AUGUST visitors with a befitting welcome.

Chants of APC …Ize-Iyamu for Governor echos around all the nooks and crannies of the state.

The APC candidate himself is in Abuja putting finishing touches to the official flag-off of the campaigns.

Governor Sanwo Olu, Ganduje and other APC Governors were in attendance.

The Simple Agenda: The Manifesto of Hope

As part of our deliberate plan to create new towns and settlements around Benin City, a second bridge to link Upper St. Saviour and Ikpoba Hill will be constructed.

• We will extend the Airport Road construction to continue across the bridge to Evbuodia-Utagba Village to join Ekenwan Barrack road by Ojemai farms.

• Traversing Auchi (Polytechnic gate) in South Ibie to Ekperi, Agenebode, Anegbete, Ugboha and Uromi will be a new experience for motorists. These roads will open up several communities and will boost socio-economic integration between Edo North and Edo Central Senatorial districts.
