ADC Swears in New Leadership at 99th NEC Meeting – July 30, 2025
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) held its 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Tuesday, July 30, 2025, in Abuja, where new interim leaders were sworn in to steer the party forward.
At the meeting, Senator David Mark was sworn in as the Interim National Chairman, while Ogbenu Rauf Aregbesola took office as the Interim National Secretary.
In his inaugural address, Senator Mark emphasized his commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and inclusive leadership. He pledged that 35% of leadership positions will be reserved for women and that youths under 40 will be actively involved in party affairs. He also announced the formation of a 50-member Policy Committee to review the party’s manifesto and propose reforms in key national sectors.
Outgoing Chairman, Hon. Ralph Nwosu, commended the ADC for standing firm against political pressure and financial inducements, saying, “ADC said no to dictatorship. We stood our ground for democracy.”
During the meeting, all previously expelled members—except 2023 presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu—were reinstated. A motion was passed to dissolve the former National Working Committee (NWC) and Board of Trustees (BoT), enabling the new leadership to take full responsibility until fresh congresses are held.
The NEC meeting was officially observed by representatives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
