SANWO-OLU TO COMMISSION 420 NEW HOME UNITS IN AJARA, BADAGRY

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to commission 420 newly completed housing units in Ajara, Badagry, on Wednesday , October 8, 2025.

The project, known as the Lagos State Housing Estate, Ajara Phase 1, marks another milestone in the State Government’s efforts to provide quality and affordable housing for residents. Upon completion, the estate is expected to cater to the accommodation needs of over 2,000 people and expand the stock of modern housing units across Lagos.

Speaking with journalists in his office, the Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, disclosed that the estate comprises a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom apartments designed to meet the diverse needs of residents.

According to the Commissioner, the Ajara project aligns with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to complete all ongoing housing schemes across the State, ensuring that more Lagosians have access to decent and affordable homes.

He noted that the initiative will not only address the housing deficit but also stimulate economic activities within the Badagry axis, creating opportunities for artisans and service providers.

Hon. Akinderu-Fatai appreciated the patience and trust of prospective homeowners and cautioned the public against dealing with unauthorized agents. He urged interested applicants to visit the Ministry’s Estate Department at Block 3, The Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, for legitimate information and transactions, emphasizing that the Ministry does not engage third-party agents for the sale of its housing units.

Fellow youths and esteemed citizens of Badagry West,

Today, I join millions across the globe to celebrate the vibrant and dynamic force that our youths represent. The International Youth Day is not just a date on the calendar, but a reminder of the pivotal role our young people play in shaping the present and securing the future of our community and nation.

In Badagry West, our youths have consistently demonstrated resilience, innovation, and a burning desire to make a difference. Your contributions in education, entrepreneurship, community service, and leadership inspire hope and confidence in the brighter days ahead.

I must particularly commend our Lagos West Vice Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comr. Aladeotan David, who, having served meritoriously as the former NYCN Badagry West Branch Chairman, has continued to display tireless commitment, strategic leadership, and a collaborative approach that has greatly strengthened youth engagement across our region. I also appreciate the NYCN Badagry West Chapter under the able leadership of Comr. Joseph Agbomenu, whose dedication to community development and youth empowerment continues to serve as a model for others to emulate.

This year’s celebration comes at a time when the world is rapidly changing, presenting both challenges and opportunities. I urge our youths to embrace creativity, adapt to change, and pursue excellence in every field. The future belongs to those who dare to dream big and work tirelessly to bring those dreams to life.

In this new era, I reaffirm my administration’s commitment to your growth and success. A REVIEW OF MY ACTIVITIES SINCE I WAS SWORN-IN AS THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF BADAGRY WEST LCDA

My beloveth people of Badagry West LCDA, this is a brief of my activities in the month of July 2025 under review.

On Sunday, July 27th, 2025, I was sworn in as the 4th Executive Chairman of Badagry West LCDA by Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. I hosted party leaders, religious leaders, community members, and the general public in a swearing-in ceremony at my residence, Enuko, Badagry West.

On Monday, July 28th, 2025, I resumed office officially and received a warm welcome from the management, staff, and the community. An interfaith special prayer session was held to mark the beginning of my administration.

On Tuesday, July 29th, 2025, I swore in and inaugurated the councillors, unveiled key appointments in preparation for the task ahead pending the lifting of the ban on appointment of SLG, supervisors, special advisers, and assistants.

On Thursday 31st July, 2025, In preparation to fully continue where my boss and predecessor dropped the baton, I went on an oversight visit to all local government assets, focusing on creating a conducive working environment, identifying key areas with urgent requests and emphasizing the importance of environmental cleanliness.

Governance is a continuous process, I strongly believe that with the help of God and your support, Badagry West LCDA will attain an enviable height.

ALIGNING WITH THE GOVERNOR'S THEME PLUS AGENDA.

Sequel to the Health and Environment development, captured in the THEME plus agenda of the governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, in 2019, I, Hon. Rauf Ibrahim Kayode Yemaren, as the Executive Chairman of Badagry West Local Council Development Area, participated in the sanitation exercise at the Gbaji bridge, the gateway to our very own LCDA

My active involvement in the sanitation exercise accorded me the honour not just to meet with the people but to project further solutions to the identified environmental situations that might lead to health hazards if not contained. I am committed to ensuring and maintaining a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment, aligning with the governor's priorities.

As your servant-leader, I recognize the importance of a clean environment and its impact on public health, economic growth, and social well-being.

Through collaborative efforts with community stakeholders, we will continue to prioritize healthy environment and sustainability, promote public awareness, and implement initiatives that will ceaselessly make our environments habitable for all.

Together, we can make a positive impact and create a brighter future for Badagry West.
