*The impulse of endorsement and the reality of primary election*

*By: Hon Henshaw Oligbi*

Politics is as old as 1922 in Nigeria when the elective principle was first introduced by Clifford constitution of 1922. This constitutional provision gave rise to the formation of the first political party in Nigeria NNDP by Herbert Macaulay.

It is a truism that from the era of NNDP to PDP, APC, ADC, NDC LP etc endorsement is a due process of primary election.

Endorsement as defined by *"Hon. Henshaw is the articulating, analysing aggregating of political interests and aspirations of others and taking common unified decisions by political King makers on whom to align with."* It is a means to an end of a process and not the end of the process.

Suffice us to note that there is no well planned political endorsement by leaders since 1922 to date that has ever failed primary elections except a few cases of a ratio of 2:98.

Leaders are the soul and custodians of a political party, they are like deities, the oracle of the party, they give directions to affairs of political parties and their decisions are to be respected.

Why the windows of primary election is not foreclosed with leaders and stakeholders endorsement of a particular aspirant, it takes the wise to read the gods.

Politics as a game, you win some, you lose some and you don't win all the time.

To those that have gotten the leadership node, quickly play the politics of olive branch, inclusiveness and sense of belongingness while the supporters of the right direction should remember there is a battle ahead and everyone is needed to fight in that battle.

It is my absolute believe and experience garnered over the years that the words of our elders are words of wisdom and as such, the endorsement is a clear and unambiguous direction to follow by all.

*GRASSROOTS CONNECTION SPEAKS: APC LEADERS IN ESAN WEST, ESAN CENTRAL & IGUEBEN UNANIMOUSLY ENDORSE SIR LUCKY ESEIGBE ESQ*

When the grassroots speak, Abuja must listen.

In a clear demonstration of people-powered politics, APC leaders across Esan West, Esan Central, and Igueben Federal Constituency have unanimously endorsed Sir (Dr) Lucky Eseigbe Esq as their candidate for the House of Representatives in 2027.

The endorsement came after months of consultations with ward executives, youth leaders, women leaders, and elders at the ward and LGA levels. It was not handed down from above. It was earned on the ground.

*Why the grassroots chose Sir Lucky Eseigbe:*

*. He Shows Up Before Election Season*
While others make promises, Barr Eseigbe has been on the ground facilitating NDDC solar street lights for Ward 4, donating a Toyota Sienna to Esan West Police, and supporting community initiatives across the constituency.
Building boreholes.
He Respects Party Structure*
From Ward 1 to 10 in Esan West, and across Esan Central and Igueben, he presented himself to leaders for endorsement and blessing. No shortcuts. No arrogance. Just respect for the people who run the party daily.

* He Knows the System, But Stays Connected to the People*
As a ranking legislative aide in the National Assembly, he understands how Abuja works. But he hasn’t forgotten the market woman in Ekpoma, the farmer in Irrua, or the youth in Igueben

* He Unites, Not Divides*
The unanimous endorsement across three LGAs shows that Sir Lucky is a bridge-builder. His message of _New Voice. New Vision. New Esan_ is resonating with everyone at the grassroots level.

This endorsement sends a strong signal: the grassroots want competence, capacity, and connection. And they see it in Sir Lucky
