NDLEA Edo State Command Decorates 62 Newly Promoted Officers and men

The NDLEA Edo State Command on 9th January, 2026 successfully conducted a decoration ceremony at the State Command Headquarters, Benin City, to formally decorate officers and men recently promoted across various ranks.

The event was attended by the State Commander, the Deputy State Commanders, Assistant State Commanders, principal staff officers, officers and men of the Command, distinguished guests as well as families of the newly promoted personnel. The ceremony was orderly, well-coordinated, and served as a significant morale booster for all present.

The State Commander, CN Mitchell Ofoyeju PhD congratulated the newly promoted officers and men. He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the Agency’s mandate of combating drug abuse and illicit trafficking, while charging the newly promoted officers and men to see their elevation as a call to greater service, discipline, and accountability. The State Commander encouraged them to remain steadfast, loyal, and exemplary in the discharge of their duties, as their conduct and performance at this new level would further strengthen public confidence in the NDLEA and contribute meaningfully to the safety and well-being of society.

The newly promoted officers were decorated with their new ranks and insignia, amidst applause and congratulations from colleagues and guests.

The NDLEA Edo State Command remains committed to recognizing dedication, rewarding excellence, and upholding professionalism in the collective fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

NDLEA EDO STATE COMMAND STRENGTHENS PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NIGERIAN ARMY

Today 9th December 2025, the Commander 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen. AO Balogun, paid a courtesy visit to the NDLEA Edo State Command. The visit was aimed at strengthening cooperation between both agencies and reinforcing the long-standing partnership in the fight against drug abuse and crime.
He expressed readiness for continued collaboration and emphasized that progress is best achieved through unity, not rivalry.

In response, the NDLEA State Commander, CN Mitchell Ofoyeju, appreciated the visit and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to sustaining a strong working relationship with the military, especially in public sensitization and preventive drug control efforts.

As part of the visit, Brig. Gen. Balogun was decorated as a War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) partner, with an exchange of commemorative plaques symbolizing mutual respect and partnership.

Together, we move forward — stronger, united, and committed to a healthier, safer society.

NDLEA Edo State Command Strengthens Partnership with Ministry of Youth Affairs

​The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Edo State Command, received a high-level courtesy visit today from the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Hon. Charity Amanyaevbo, and his team today the 20th of October 2025.

​During the meeting, Commissioner Amanyaevbo thanked the State Commander for the warm reception, conveying his deep appreciation to the State Governor for granting his Ministry the crucial mandate to aggressively tackle the scourge of drug abuse. He emphasized that his priority is to focus on prevention over cure, which includes youth education and awareness, disrupting drug trafficking, and enhancing rehabilitation services. He stressed that a robust partnership and collaboration between the Ministry of Youth Affairs and the NDLEA is essential to achieving these goals.

​The State Commander of NDLEA, CN Mitchell Ofoyeju, expressed gratitude for the Commissioner's visit and assured him of the Command's commitment to fostering a strong working relationship. CN Ofoyeju reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to a comprehensive dual-pronged approach of drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction. He underscored the importance of collaborating with the Ministry of Youth, stating that since "the youths are the leaders of today and tomorrow," the agency will do whatever it takes to decisively address the drug situation in the state.

​This significant visit underscores the NDLEA Edo State Command’s dedication to fostering strong partnerships with all key Ministries and stakeholders to ultimately achieve a drug-free Edo State.

INAUGURATION Of EDO STATE'S STATE & LOCAL GOVERNMENT DRUG CONTROL COMMITTEES

Today, October 3rd, 2025, the Edo State Government in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) inaugurated the State and Local Government Drug Control Committees at the Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City.

The initiative, coordinated through the Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, marks a significant step in strengthening the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Edo State.

Dignitaries in attendance included the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, ably represented by the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), represented by the Zonal Commander, NDLEA Zone 13, ACGN Fidelis Cocodia, the Edo State Commander, NDLEA, CN Mitchell Ofoyeju, the Delta State Commander, NDLEA, CN Halilu Hamidu, represented by Deputy State Commander, CN Victor Isibor, the SSA to the Governor on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Hon. Andrew Efe, alongside other distinguished guests.
The ceremony concluded with the oath of office by members of the newly inaugurated committees.

Together, we remain committed to a drug-free Edo State.

NDLEA Edo State Command Strengthens Partnership with the Federal fire service, Edo State Command

The State Commander of NDLEA, Edo State Command, CN Ofoyeju Mitchell, has continued his strategic engagement with key stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse.

Today the 17th of September, 2025, the State Commander, NDLEA Edo State Command, CN Ofoyeju Mitchell, paid a courtesy visit to the Edo State Command of the Federal Fire Service, where he was warmly received by the Zonal Controller, Zone G, CF Awosika Adeniyi (who was on a working visit to the state), and the State Controller, DCF Jeremiah Bidemi Ayoola.

During the visit, the NDLEA State Commander highlighted the strong correlation between drug use and its broader societal impacts, while seeking possible areas of partnership with the Federal Fire Service.

In his response, the Zonal Controller, Zone G, expressed delight at the coincidence of both visits and reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with the NDLEA in the fight against drug abuse within the state.

As part of the engagement, both the Zonal and State Controllers of the Federal Fire Service were decorated as War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) Partners.

NDLEA Edo State Command Advocates Against Cultism, Drug Abuse, and Gender-Based Violence at NAPS Summit

The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) took its advocacy to the youths and other key stakeholders during the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) Summit, held on August 22, 2025, at the Youth House, Akpakpava, Benin City.

The summit centered on the theme: “The Effects of Cultism, Drug Abuse, and Gender-Based Violence on Social, Political, and Economic Development.”

The State Commander, CN Mitchell Ofoyeju, delivered an insightful presentation on the dangers of drug and substance abuse, highlighting its negative impact on individuals, families, and society at large.

NDLEA Edo State Command Strengthens Partnership with the Nigeria Correctional Service, Edo State Command

The State Commander of the NDLEA, Edo State Command, CN Ofoyeju Mitchell, has continued his strategic engagement with key stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse.

On August 26, 2025, the Commander paid a courtesy visit to the Controller of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Edo State Command, CCC Sunday E. Oyakhire. During the visit, CN Mitchell expressed appreciation for the support of the Correctional Service and emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration in addressing drug abuse, particularly within correctional facilities.

In his response, Controller Oyakhire reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the cause, stressing that the fight against drug abuse can only be won through collective responsibility and inter-agency synergy.

This visit underscores NDLEA Edo State Command’s dedication to fostering strong partnerships with security agencies and stakeholders to achieve a drug-free Edo State.

NDLEA EDO STATE COMMAND STRENGTHENS PARTNERSHIP WITH THE GENERAL OVERSEER OF OMEGA FIRE MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL

The State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Edo State Command, CN Mitchell Ofoyeju, has continued to build strong alliances with critical stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse.

On Thursday, 21st August 2025, the Commander paid a courtesy visit to the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman at the church Headquarters, Auchi, Edo State.

During the visit, CN Ofoyeju expressed appreciation to the Apostle for his consistent efforts in mentoring and guiding youths through the church platform. He emphasized the importance of partnership with faith-based leaders in curbing the menace of drug abuse and reiterated the Command’s commitment to reducing drug supply and demand to the barest minimum across Edo State.

In his response, Apostle Suleman commended the NDLEA for its relentless work in combating drug abuse and pledged the full support of Omega Fire Ministries in advancing the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign.

The visit was rounded off with the decoration of Apostle Johnson Suleman as a WADA Partner in recognition of his role in supporting the fight against drug abuse.
