*Anambra Students Demand Soludo’s Second Term, Laud His Transformative Leadership*

Students in Anambra State, under the Solution Students Movement of Nigeria have demanded that Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo seek re-election, citing his achievements in education, infrastructural development and security.

The call was made during the launch of the movement at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Igbariam, which attracted thousands of students from various institutions.

Speaking on behalf of 16 Students Union Government (SUG) leaders, the Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council, Anambra State, Comrade Okoye Matthew Okpara, declared the student support for Soludo’s second term. He praised the governor’s engagement with tertiary institutions, approval of student loans and launch of Agunechemba security outfit as key steps in transforming the state.

Institutions represented at the event included Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State Polytechnic Mgbakwu, Nwafor Orizu College of Education Nsugbe, Federal College of Education (Technical) Umunze, Tansian University and Metallurgical Training Institute.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, Governor Soludo, represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, commended the students for their solidarity and patriotism. He reaffirmed Soludo’s commitment to youth empowerment as seen in key appointments and policies favoring young people.

Dr. Obiogbolu outlined the governor’s achievements in security, education, housing and healthcare, noting his success in combating youth criminality while fostering a culture of hard work and self-reliance. He also highlighted initiatives such as free primary and secondary education, free antenatal care, the establishment of Anambra largest trauma center at COOU Amaku Teaching Hospital. He commended the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) Mr. Ossy Onuko for his effort in transforming the state capital.

On her part, COOU Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Omenugha, applauded Soludo’s impact on higher education and announced plans to restore vandalized infrastructure and introduce "Solution WiFi" for 24-hour internet access on campus. She urged students to reject thuggery and vote wisely for Anambra future.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of ACTDA Mr. Ossy Onuko, extolled Governor Soludo’s infrastructural strides including the recruitment of 8,153 teachers, the ongoing construction of 21 smart schools across all local government areas and the completion of over 401 kilometers of roads out of the 739 kilometers awarded in his first two years in office. He described this as an unprecedented feat in the state history and noted that Anambra now has the lowest rate of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

With the growing support from students and stakeholders, the demand for Soludo’s second term continues to gain momentum across Anambra State.

*ACTDA FLASH: Three-Story Building Collapse in Awka*

Officials of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) have visited the site of a collapsed three-story building under construction near Diamond Pizza, opposite Five Star Restaurant, along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway in Awka, Anambra State.

The building, which was at the roofing level, collapsed at approximately 5:25 PM today. According to an eyewitness, Mr. Daniel, a resident in the area, he heard a series of thunderous sounds and rushed out to investigate, only to witness the building crumbling to the ground.

Rescue operations are currently ongoing, casualties already pulled from the rubble.
Passersby and commuters also joined in the efforts to assist those injured.

The agency has immediately constituted a panel of inquiry to determine the remote and immediate cause of the collapse.

*Students Laud Governor Soludo’s Achievements, Visit ACTDA Boss*

In a show of solidarity , the Solution Students Movement of Nigeria, a coalition of student leaders in Anambra State has commended Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for his outstanding achievements in governance. The group paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) at his office in Awka to express their support for Governor Soludo's developmental agenda.

Speaking during the visit, the Managing Director of ACTDA Mr. Ossy Onuko appreciated the students for their commitment and enthusiasm in supporting Governor Soludo vision for a liveable and prosperous homeland. “Governor Soludo sees and values what you are doing. Your passion for his agenda reflects the drive to make Anambra a better place for all,” he stated.

He highlighted several achievements of Governor Soludo to include the ongoing Solution Fun City in Awka which when completed would feature water park, country club and recreational facilities showing the governor commitment to Ndi Anambra while stressing that the state was currently undergoing massive infrastructural transformation with every community having access road.

However, Mr. Onuko applauded the dualization of federal roads and other key projects emphasizing that Governor Soludo’s effort deserve continued support.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Council Comrade Okoye Matthew Okpara popularly known as Jagaban, described Governor Soludo as an innovative leader who has made significant progress in just over two years in office.

He highlighted his key achievements to include construction of over 400 kilometers of roads, free education, bursaries, free healthcare services, employment of teachers and inclusion of student loans in the state budget. He explained that the group was created to support Governor Soludo because of the incredible work he was doing and to also unite student leaders across the State to amplify his vision.

He further announced plans to officially unveil the Solution Students Movement on February 21, 2025, which he said would provide a platform for students to show their appreciation and commitment to the governor's agenda.

*Keeping Markets Clean is Non-Negotiable – ACTDA MD Tells Umuokpu Market Executives*

The Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) Mr. Ossy Onuko, has reaffirmed the importance of maintaining cleanliness and proper organization in markets as a fundamental requirement for their operation. He made this assertion during a courtesy visit by the newly elected executives of Umuokpu Building Materials Market, Awka South Local Government Area, to his office.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Onuko emphasized the need for market leaders to uphold high sanitation standards and adhere strictly to government regulations. He warned against uncleanliness and unauthorized constructions in market spaces, highlighting that government would not tolerate such practices. He further charged the executives to take responsibility for ensuring a clean and orderly market environment.

Congratulating the new executives on their election, Mr. Onuko reassured the delegation of government dedication to market development under Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo administration while revealing plans to commence a mechanic village project in February, aimed at enhancing market organization and improving urban spaces in Awka.

“Cleanliness and organization in markets are non-negotiable. We are committed to supporting market growth but compliance with government regulations must be prioritized, together we can achieve sustainable development,” Mr. Onuko stated.

Earlier, the Chairman of Umuokpu Building Materials Market Chief Ndubuisi Igwebuike highlighted the market challenges, including poor road, unresolved disputes among traders and inadequate facilities. He commended Governor Soludo transformative efforts in Awka and appealed for more government support to address these pressing issues.

“Addressing these challenges will not only improve the market operations but also enhance its revenue generating potential for the state,” Chief Igwebuike noted.

*Umuokpu Awka Pledges Maximum Support for Gov. Soludo's Re-election*

The newly elected President General (PG) of Umuokpu village in Awka South Local Government Area, Barr. Chukwudi Edwin Okeke, has reaffirmed his community’s unwavering support for the re-election of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.

Barr. Okeke made this pledge during a courtesy visit to the Managing Director/CEO of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Mr. Ossy Onuko, on January 15, 2025, at his office in Awka.

Accompanied by members of his exco, Barr. Okeke commended Governor Soludo for his transformative achievements in Anambra State, particularly in the state capital. He assured Mr. Onuko that the people of Umuokpu were committed to ensuring that 90% of their votes go to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the forthcoming election.

“We are here to reaffirm our commitment to Governor Soludo’s re-election. His exceptional leadership and dedication to progress have won the trust of the people of Umuokpu. We stand ready to mobilize massive support for him,” Barr. Okeke declared.

*Infrastructure Development*

- *Road Projects*: The team successfully completed several road projects, some of which includes, Ukwu Orji Road, Ifite Awka Road, Amaku Road, and Regina Caeli Road, Ziks Avenue Road, Esther Obiakor Road, Ichide Road etc.
- *Drainage Systems*: ACTDA began desilting drainages to ensure proper water flow and prevent flooding, especially the Ziks avenue drainages that has not been disilted in the past 10 years.
- *Internal Roads*: Over 1.8 kilometers of internal roads within the COOUTH Amaku Awka premises were reconstructed.

*Urban Renewal*

- *City Beautification*: The agency embarked on the total beautification of the city by painting public spaces - herbs, concretes, bridges etc and adorning our public spaces with murals showcasing Ndi Anambra that has distinguished themselves in their various fields of human endeavors.
- *Market Reorganization*: The agency embarked on reorientation of market leaders ensuring that there’s a waste management program for every market and curb the persistent trading on the road which is the main reason for traffic gridlock. Strategic perimeter fencing was completed to enhance the market’s security and aesthetics at Eke Awka and Building material markets Umuokpu.
- *Solution Arena Open Market*: A new initiative of the agency to curb the indiscriminate trading and siting of shanty’s on our major roads, open store markets were constructed at Awka and Agulu and many more to come.

*Collaboration and Community Engagement*

- *Partnerships*: ACTDA collaborated with private sectors to build landmark structures and enhance the city's infrastructure .
- *Community Sensitization*: The team organized campaigns and sensitization programs to promote environmental cleanliness and safety.
