A step towards empowerment, innovation, and sustainable development in the Niger Delta.

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has opened applications for its Skills Development Training and Empowerment Programme, focused on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Vehicle Conversion across the nine states of the Niger Delta.

This programme is designed to equip Niger Delta youths with practical, industry-relevant skills that support job creation, cleaner energy adoption, and the growth of a more reliable and sustainable transportation sector in the region.

Eligible youths are encouraged to apply online through the official NDDC portal within the stipulated period, as only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further screening.

Delta State Job and Wealth Creation Bureau Holds Strategy Meeting, Sets Tone For The New Year Ahead.

Yesterday, the Chief Job and Wealth Creation Officer, Comrade Ifeanyi Egwunyenga expressed heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Job and Wealth Creation Bureau for their dedication and cooperation throughout the previous year. He commended their efforts and encouraged an even greater commitment in the months ahead.

He also shared exciting updates on upcoming programmes, highlighting initiatives targeted at empowering youths with industries-relevant experience with the goal to help them develop competitive skills that will give them an edge in the job market.

Emphasizing the bureau’s culture of excellence, he encouraged staff to give their best in every task and announced plans for regular departmental strategy sessions. These sessions, he noted, will serve as a platform for staff to contribute ideas and align on goals for the year.

Dr. Nkechor, Director of Administration of the bureau, who spoke on behalf of the entire team, thanked Comrade Egwunyenga for his unwavering support and leadership. He assured him of the team's full commitment and readiness to work excellently with him towards the successful ex*****on of all planned programmes.

Yesterday, at the programme titled “The Role of Nigerian Youths in National Development with Focus on the M.O.R.E Agenda,” the Chief Job Creation Officer delivered an insightful address on the state’s renewed approach to youth empowerment and skill development.

Speaking on the Topic: Empowerment and Skill Acquisition of Delta Youths, he explained that the Delta State Government is prioritizing the training of “browns” who are youths who have already learnt a skill or trade at a basic or intermediate level, whether through apprenticeship, informal learning, or previous vocational exposure.

He went on to emphasize that years of previous programme assessments have shown that “brown” youths tend to demonstrate stronger commitment, clearer direction, and greater readiness to fully utilize the opportunities provided by government training programmes. This makes them more likely to transition quickly into productive work and entrepreneurship.

He stressed that this focus is not meant to exclude newcomers, but rather to ensure that resources go where impact is faster, deeper, and more sustainable. By building on the foundation already laid by “brown” youths, the government can produce job creators more efficiently and strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem under the M.O.R.E Agenda.

In his words, “A young person who has already taken the initiative to learn a skill comes in with hunger, drive, and direction. That level of commitment is what we build on to produce real economic value.”

He reaffirmed Governor Oborevwori’s unwavering commitment to empowering its youth, nurturing their skills, and positioning them as major contributors to national development and the vision of the M.O.R.E Agenda.
