Enodeh Commends Police for Prioritising Youth Leadership and Security

‎The Commissioner for Youth Development, Delta State, Hon. Barr. Oyinkuro Brave Enodeh, has commended the Nigeria Police Force for its commitment to youth development and for providing a platform to engage young people on issues of leadership, peace and security.
‎
‎Hon. Enodeh gave the commendation while speaking at the 2026 International Youth Day celebration organised by the Nigeria Police Force under the National Youth Leadership and Security Initiative.
‎
‎The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the Nigeria Police Force for inviting the Delta State Ministry of Youth Development to participate in the celebration, describing the initiative as timely and significant, particularly at a period when young people are expected to play a greater role in shaping the future of the nation.
‎
‎He commended the Police Authority for recognising the importance of youths and for choosing to celebrate them as leaders of tomorrow, noting that meaningful youth development could only be achieved through collective responsibility and sustained collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, civil society organisations, parents and young people themselves.
‎
‎According to him, the development of young people goes beyond empowerment programmes, stressing the need to also equip them with the right values, good parenting, leadership skills, knowledge and sense of responsibility required to become productive members of society.
‎
‎Sagboje Urges Youths to Shun Violence, Hate Speech
‎
‎Also speaking at the event, the Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Delta State Chapter, Comrade Milton Sagboje, urged young people to reject violence, hate speech, cultism, criminality and other activities capable of destroying their future.
‎
‎Comrade Sagboje encouraged youths to channel their energy, talents and creativity into productive ventures, education, entrepreneurship and leadership.
‎
‎The stakeholders maintained that with the right guidance, opportunities, values and support, young Nigerians can become effective agents of development and play a decisive role in building a more peaceful, prosperous and secure nation.

Enodeh Commends NYSC Corps Members for Skills, Creativity at Iselekuku Orientation Camp

‎The Commissioner for Youth Development, Delta State, Hon. Oyinkuro Brave Enodeh, has commended members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for demonstrating creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial potential through the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme.
‎
‎The Commissioner stated this during his visit to the NYSC Orientation Camp, Iselekuku, where he was warmly received by the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. John Vandi T. Kwaghe.
‎
‎During the visit, the Commissioner witnessed an impressive display of skills, products and innovations developed by corps members under the SAED Programme. He expressed delight at the level of dedication, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit demonstrated by the young Nigerians.
‎
‎Hon. Enodeh noted that the skills acquired through the programme go beyond the mandatory service year, stressing that they can provide a strong foundation for sustainable livelihoods, self-reliance and the establishment of viable businesses.
‎
‎The Commissioner officially declared the ceremony closed and thereafter toured the trade fair exhibition, where he inspected the various products and interacted with corps members on their innovations, skills and entrepreneurial activities.
‎
‎He emphasized that the Delta State Ministry of Youth Development would continue to support initiatives that equip young people with practical and marketable skills, promote entrepreneurship and position them as productive contributors to the development of Delta State and Nigeria.
‎
‎Hon. Enodeh further reaffirmed the commitment of the Delta State Government, under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to creating opportunities, empowering young people and supporting programmes that provide youths with the skills, resources and platforms needed to thrive.
‎
‎He equally commended the NYSC management and the corps members for their commitment to the SAED programme, describing the exhibition as a clear demonstration of the enormous potential of Nigerian youths when provided with the right opportunities and support.

NYCN Burutu Celebrates International Youth Day
‎
‎The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Burutu LGA Chapter, led by Comr. Chief Edinini Suowari, today celebrated International Youth Day at the Burutu Local Government Legislative Quarters.
‎
‎The event was attended by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Delta State, Hon. Barr. Oyinkuro Brave Enodeh; Chairman, Burutu LGA, High Chief Julius Tekeme (PhD); Chairman, NYCN Delta State Chapter, Comr. Milton Sagboje; PRO, Delta State Ministry of Youth Development, Mr. Uche Okei, among other dignitaries and stakeholders.

‎The celebration featured colourful cultural dances, a Boys’ Scout parade and insightful lectures, highlighting the importance of youth participation, leadership and development.

Today, 12th August 2026, we join youths across the world and in the 36 States of the Federation to commemorate International Youth Day.

The 2026 theme, "Local Youth Actions for SDG Goals and Beyond" is a clarion call to all of us. It reminds us that the real work of nation building and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals starts right here in our communities, in our LGAs, in our markets, in our schools, and in our homes across Delta State.

At the Youth Advancement Initiative, YAI Delta State Chapter, our mandate is clear: To advance the cause of Delta youths through Skill Acquisition, Leadership Training, Entrepreneurship, Peace Advocacy, and Civic Engagement. These are the very areas that drive the achievement of the SDGs in our State.

We state without apology that Delta Youths are not thugs.
We are responsible youths. We are innovators, entrepreneurs, artisans, students, and leaders. We are found in every sector of the Nigerian economy contributing our quota to the growth and development of our dear State.

As an organization present in all the 25 LGAs of Delta State, we reaffirm our commitment to partner with the Delta State Government under the MORE Agenda of His Excellency the Governor, and with the Ministry of Youth Development to deliver real impact for Delta youths.

‎The Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development, Delta State, Hon. Barr. Oyinkuro Brave Enodeh, has felicitated with young people across Delta State and Nigeria on the occasion of the 2026 International Youth Day, observed annually on August 12, reaffirming the commitment of the administration of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to creating an enabling environment for young people to thrive, prosper and contribute meaningfully to the development of the State.
‎
‎International Youth Day provides an opportunity for governments, development partners, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to recognise the enormous contributions of young people to social, economic and political development, while drawing attention to the challenges and opportunities confronting them. The United Nations observes the day every year on August 12.
‎
‎In a goodwill message to mark the occasion, Hon. Enodeh described the youth as the strength, energy and future of Delta State, noting that the State’s development aspirations could only be fully realised when young people are empowered with the right skills, opportunities, mentorship and platforms to participate actively in governance and economic development.
‎
‎The Commissioner said the celebration was particularly significant as it provides an avenue to reflect on the progress made in youth development, identify existing gaps and strengthen collective efforts towards building a generation of productive, innovative, responsible and self-reliant young Deltans.
‎
‎According to him, the MORE Agenda of the Oborevwori administration places strong emphasis on human capital development, economic empowerment, inclusiveness and creating opportunities for citizens, especially young people, to acquire the skills and support required to become productive contributors to society.
‎
‎Hon. Enodeh further stated that the Ministry of Youth Development under his leadership would continue to work closely with relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies, youth organisations, private-sector players, development partners and other stakeholders to advance programmes and policies capable of improving the welfare and socio-economic wellbeing of young people in the State.
‎
‎He noted that youth development must go beyond occasional empowerment initiatives, stressing the need for sustained interventions in skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, employment creation, education, leadership development, innovation, technology, sports, agriculture, creative industries and civic participation.
‎
‎The Commissioner also called on young Deltans to take advantage of available opportunities, remain committed to personal development, embrace entrepreneurship and skills acquisition, shun criminality and violence, and position themselves as responsible partners in the development of their communities and the State, urging youth leaders and organisations across the 25 Local Government Areas of Delta State to continue to promote peace, unity, inclusiveness and constructive engagement, assuring them that the Ministry remains open to ideas and partnerships that will advance the interests and aspirations of young people.

‎DELTA STATE CELEBRATION
‎The Honourable Commissioner disclosed that the Delta State Ministry of Youth Development is making arrangements to commemorate the 2026 International Youth Day with young people and relevant stakeholders across the State.
‎He stated that the specific dates, venue and programme of activities for the Delta State celebration will be announced soon, urging young people, youth organisations, stakeholders and the general public to look forward to the official announcement from the Ministry.
‎
‎Hon. Enodeh said the forthcoming celebration would provide an opportunity for young people to interact, share ideas, showcase their talents and innovations, and engage with policymakers and other stakeholders on issues affecting their development and future.
‎
‎He assured young Deltans that the Ministry under his leadership would continue to prioritise programmes that promote youth inclusion, empowerment, skills development, entrepreneurship, leadership and meaningful participation in governance and community development.
‎
‎The Commissioner expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his commitment to the development of young people and for providing the necessary support and direction towards achieving the objectives of the Ministry.
‎
‎He also called on parents, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders, private-sector organisations, development partners and youth-focused organisations to continue to support government efforts aimed at unlocking the potential of young people.

‎MESSAGE TO DELTA YOUTHS
‎Hon. Enodeh congratulated all young Deltans on International Youth Day and encouraged them to believe in themselves, acquire relevant skills, pursue excellence and remain positive contributors to society.
‎
‎According to him, “the future of Delta State belongs to all of us, and our young people have a critical role to play in building the Delta State we desire. I urge every young Deltan to believe in their potential, embrace opportunities, develop their skills and remain committed to peace, hard work, innovation and responsible citizenship.”

‎He reiterated the commitment of the Ministry of Youth Development to working with young people and stakeholders to build a youth development framework that is inclusive, sustainable, participatory and responsive to the changing needs of young Deltans.

2026 INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY

It is hereby announced for the information of the general public, particularly Delta State Youths, that the 2026 International Youth Day is commemorated on the 12th of August 2026, in solidarity with young people across the world and in recognition of the important role of youth in shaping the present and future of our societies.

International Youth Day is a globally recognised occasion for highlighting the contributions, potential, challenges and aspirations of young people, while encouraging greater youth participation in development and decision-making. It provides an important platform for young people to express themselves, showcase their talents and creativity, raise awareness about issues affecting them, and engage governments, institutions, communities and other stakeholders on matters concerning our future.

For the Delta State Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, (NYCN) as the umbrella body for youth organizations and the mouthpiece of Nigeria Youth, the significance of International Youth Day goes beyond organising a single event. It is an opportunity to bring young people together, strengthen youth participation, promote positive engagement and create platforms through which the aspirations of Delta State youths can be connected to opportunities.

The global theme for 2026, “Different Context, Common Aspiration,” aptly reflects the realities of young people across Delta State. Although we come from different Local Government Areas, Ethnic Nationalities, communities, cultures, educational backgrounds and socio-economic circumstances, our aspirations remain largely the same. We seek opportunities for education and skills development, employment, entrepreneurship, innovation, investment, technology, inclusion, meaningful participation and a better future.

Accordingly, the NYCN Delta State Council led by the State Chairman, His Youthfulness, Comr. Sagboje Odiri Milton, CLN is calling on every Delta youth to become part of the 2026 International Youth Day celebration in their own unique way. Young people do not have to wait for a major event or formal invitation to participate. You can commemorate the Day by organising a community service, mentoring another young person, showcasing your business or innovation, organising a skills-sharing session, participating in an environmental activity, creating art, music, poetry or spoken-word content, organising a sporting activity, supporting a vulnerable person, or simply using your voice and social-media platform to promote positive conversations about youth development.

INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY 2026 SOCIAL MEDIA CHALLENGE

To further encourage creativity and youth-led participation, the NYCN Delta State Council is introducing the , an opportunity for Delta youths to creatively document and share how they are commemorating International Youth Day.

Participants are invited to create an original Facebook post, TikTok or Instagram video, photograph, artwork, spoken-word presentation, short documentary or other creative content reflecting their International Youth Day 2026 activity, message, talent or interpretation of the theme, “Different Context, Common Aspiration.”

Participants are required to publish their content on Facebook, TikTok or Instagram, tag NYCN Delta, and use the official hashtags:


The most creative and impactful content will receive a cash prize of ₦200,000, while several other outstanding participants will receive consolation prizes and special recognition.

This challenge is open to Delta State youths from every background and profession. Whether you are a student, entrepreneur, artisan, farmer, professional, innovator, content creator, creative artist, community volunteer or simply a young person with an idea, your creativity can become part of the International Youth Day story in Delta State.

CELEBRATION ACROSS THE 25 LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS

The NYCN Delta State Council and the Delta State Miniistry of Youth Development are also facilitating statewide International Youth Day celebration across the 25 Local Government Areas of Delta State. The National Youth Council of Nigeria Chapters in all LGAs will commemorate the Day through activities scheduled on different dates to allow young people at the grassroots to participate in ways that reflect their unique realities, interests and aspirations.

The decentralised approach is deliberate because the youth agenda of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, the Executive Governor of Delta State must not be restricted to a single location. Every young person in Delta State deserves an opportunity to participate, contribute and be heard.

GRAND FINALE:
The statewide activities will culminate in Asaba on 23rd September 2026 with the Delta Youth Opportunities Dialogue, which will serve as the grand finale of the International Youth Day 2026 programme in Delta State.

The Dialogue will bring together young people and relevant stakeholders from government, the private sector, development organisations, businesses, entrepreneurs, investors, innovators, institutions and other sectors to engage in meaningful conversations around youth opportunities, entrepreneurship, employment, investment readiness, innovation, skills development, technology, strategic partnerships and meaningful youth participation in development.

The objective is to move the conversation from celebration to engagement, from engagement to opportunity, and from opportunity to measurable impact.

The NYCN Delta State Council therefore encourages every young person to embrace this year's International Youth Day as an opportunity to celebrate, create, connect, contribute and inspire.

Our backgrounds may be different. Our experiences may be different. Our challenges may be different. But our aspirations are common.

State Awareness Committee Applauds Oborevwori over Rise in Youth Military Enlistment, Enodeh Assumes Leadership

The Delta State Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his sustained commitment to human capital development, saying his administration’s deliberate awareness campaign has significantly increased the participation of Delta youths in military and paramilitary recruitment.

Chairman of the committee and Commissioner for Youth Development, Brave Oyinkore Enodeh, stated this on Monday in Asaba when he formally assumed leadership of the committee in line with its structure and organogram. He said available records showed remarkable growth in the number of Delta youths applying for and gaining admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy, the Nigerian Army and other military and paramilitary services.

Enodeh said the achievement reflected the administration’s sustained investment in youth development and strategic public enlightenment. He assured the state government that, under his leadership, the committee would consolidate the gains already recorded and deploy more effective strategies to reach eligible youths across the state.

Over the past three years, the committee has intensified grassroots sensitisation, media campaigns and stakeholder engagement across Delta’s 25 local government areas. Working with traditional rulers, youth organisations, local government authorities, religious bodies and security agencies, it has provided timely information and guidance to prospective applicants on recruitment opportunities, eligibility requirements and screening procedures.

The impact of the initiative has been significant, with government records indicating improved recruitment outcomes for Delta youths. More than 3,000 Deltans have reportedly been enlisted and commissioned through various military entry routes, including Regular Recruit Intake, Direct Short Service Commission and admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy.

Enodeh said the committee would sustain and expand its partnership with the Armed Forces and other security agencies while strengthening its grassroots and media outreach. He said the initiative was aimed not only at creating more career opportunities for young Deltans but also at promoting discipline, patriotism, skills development and meaningful service to the nation.

Earlier, the Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Esq., and the Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Political and Security Services, Mr Chukks Aguonye, jointly briefed the Commissioner on the committee’s terms of reference and reviewed the strategies that had driven the progress recorded so far.

Also present at the meeting were the committee’s Secretary, Chief Alfred Origbo; Chairman, Delta State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Milton Sagboje; and Pastor Emmanuel Egodo, State Representative.
