Distinguished Guests, Esteemed Leaders, My Fellow Constituents, and Beloved Friends,
Today is a bittersweet moment for me as I stand before you to express my deepest gratitude and bid you all farewell as I conclude my tenure as the elected Councillor of Ward F, Apapa Iganmu LCDA. The past years have been an incredible journeyโone filled with triumphs, challenges, and, most importantly, unwavering unity and dedication to the progress of our great ward.
From the moment I took office, I pledged to serve with integrity, humility, and a heart fully committed to the betterment of our people. It has been an honor to be your voice, your advocate, and your representative. Every decision made, every policy pushed forward, and every project embarked upon was driven by one goal: to uplift our community and improve the quality of life for every resident of Ward F.
As Chairman of the House Committee on Primary Healthcare in the 5th Legislative Arm of Apapa Iganmu LCDA, I had the privilege of playing a vital role of advocating better healthcare for our people. Ensuring access to quality healthcare has always been a top priority, and I am proud of the strides we madeโorganizing medical outreach programs, and advocating for stronger healthcare policies.
I take immense pride in what we have accomplished together. From infrastructural projects like the renovation and furnishings of primary school, construction of toilets, provision of boreholes, and clearing of drainage systemsโto youth and women empowerment initiatives that provided skills and work tools for them, to educational support through free GCE and JAMB forms and scholarships, and community welfare programs including feeding and healthcare outreachโwe proved that progress is possible through collective effort, passion, and purpose.
Yet, the journey was not without challenges. Many promising ideas and visions were hindered by political constraints. It was unpleasant at times, but I remained committed to delivering what I could, always placing the peopleโs needs first.
To my constituentsโyou entrusted me with your hopes and aspirations, and I am forever grateful. Your support, prayers, encouragement, and constructive criticism shaped me into a better leader and a better person. The trust you placed in me remains one of the greatest honors of my life.
As I conclude my tenure, I want to state clearly that my decision not to seek re-election was made in the interest of our ward. I believe it is time to support others and allow fresh leadership to thrive, as governance Is all about selfless service to the people.
I would also like to appreciate some remarkable individuals who played key roles in my journey. Firstly, I want to thank Almighty God, the author and finisher of our faith, who saw me through it all and gave me the grace to be here today.
To the outgoing Executive Chairman, Hon. Funmilayo Akande Mohammedโ I say thank you for constantly pushing me to exceed expectations and for supporting the progress of all we councillors ma. To the newly elected executive chairman of Apapa Iganmu LCDA, Hon Olawale Saliu Jimohโ thank you for your day one fatherly role and leadership advice sir, To the CDA Chairman of Marine Beach, Hon. Wole Akinleyeโyour unwavering support and guidance made much of my work easier. To the former CDA Chairman of Orisunbare, Mr. Owolabi Mudashiru and current CDA Chairman, Mr Smart Damilare โthank you both for your dedication. To my beautiful mother and the newly elected Vice Chairman of Apapa Iganmu LCDA, Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Fadekemi O. Otitonaiye JPโyou have been my rock and source of strength. I am forever grateful, Ma.
My sincere appreciation also goes to the Baale of Marine Beach Community; Baale Joseph Ogunmolaโthank you for your royal advice and fatherly support sir. To the youths of Marine Beach and Orisunbare communities; and the APC leaders of Ward Fโthank you all.
To my loving wife, soulmate, and best friend, Olori Kehinde Damilola Ishola Otitonaiye, and our adorable daughter, Andrea Oluwashindara Otitonaiyeโthank you both for your endless love, support and for being my biggest strength. To the entire Otitonaiye family, I am deeply grateful for always standing by me through my challenges and successes.
Most importantly, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my godmother, political leader and mentor, Sen. Dr. Oluremi Tinubu, CON, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Your belief in me and the opportunity you gave me to serve my people changed my life forever. I will always be thankful for your endorsement, trust and guidance, Ma.
To my fellow councillors, you all are amazing and It has been a great honor serving alongside you all. To the community leaders, appointed executives, management and staff of Apapa Iganmu LCDA, and APC party executives (both at the ward and LGA levels)โthank you for your collaboration and support. We may have had differences, but our shared goal of service always united us. I deeply value the friendships and lessons Iโve gained.
As I step aside, I do so with a heart full of gratitude and hope. I believe Ward F will continue to thrive under the capable leadership of Hon. Omotayo Janet Amona, the newly elected Councillor of our ward. I urge all of us to continue playing our part in the growth and development of Apapa Iganmu LCDA. Leadership is a shared responsibility, and true community strength lies in our unity and participation.
Though my tenure ends today, my love and dedication to Ward F remain unwavering. I am still your son, your brother, your friend, and your advocate. My doors will always be open, and my hands ready to work for the betterment of our people, as i also look forward to bigger opportunities ahead.
