ODSEMA RESPONDS SWIFTLY TO BUILDING COLLAPSE IN AKURE

The Ondo State Emergency Management Agency (ODSEMA) on Tuesday responded promptly to the collapse of a storey building under construction at Adegbola, along Oyemekun Road, Akure.

Following the incident, officials from the Office of the Deputy Governor and ODSEMA, led by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Mr. Frederick Orunko, and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Emergency Response, Hon. (Prince) Wellington Oriade Adebawo, visited the scene to assess the situation and coordinate necessary response efforts.

We are pleased to report that no lives were lost. Seven workers who sustained injuries during the incident were immediately evacuated and are receiving medical attention.

Preliminary findings indicate that the collapse may have resulted from the use of substandard materials and poor construction practices. Relevant authorities have commenced appropriate actions in line with existing regulations to ensure accountability and prevent similar occurrences.

ODSEMA remains committed to protecting lives and property across Ondo State through rapid emergency response, proactive monitoring, and collaboration with relevant agencies.

We reassure residents that the government is taking concrete steps to strengthen safety compliance and oversight across construction sites in the state.

Your safety remains our priority.
