TOPIC
THAT THEY MAY REPENT
Memory verse
Whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed. Romans 3:35
Scripture Reading
Matthew 9:10-13
10 Now it happened, as Jesus sat at the table in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples.
11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?
12 When Jesus heard that, He said to them, those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.
13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repent.
Word for today
The word of God says, For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23. This began from Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden when they were lured to sin and fell into it. This resulted to the destruction of their generation through flood and all evils and atrocities that we are witnessing all over the world today. But because of the love and the mercy of God, He called out Abraham and his family from among the people of earth, and began the work of redemption. And when the appointed time comes, He sends His Son Jesus to be offered as a sacrifice for our sins, through which the right of the sonship was restored to as many that believe in Him. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
This is what today's passage is confirming to us. Jesus didn't leave any stone unturned, He knew those He came to save, the sinners. He sought them, sat with them, preached the coming kingdom of God to them. When He was accused, He told His accusers that He didn't come because of those who claimed to be healed and without sin. But those who are sick in the spirit and the sinners who need repentance.
Our names were once written in the book of destruction, but glory be to God who gave us our Lord Jesus Christ who paid the ransom for our sina. And gave us a new life, now we are being called sons and daughters of God. If you are yet to be one of them, today is another day for you to be added to them, the next minute might be too late. You need to tell Jesus now to come into your heart and take total control, and be ready to follow Him for the rest of your life. He came because of you, and He will love you to be counted among His own that will reign with Him forever. If you are already His own, I congratulate you, but don't stop examining yourself daily. Don't forget your going to church or doing one thing or the other in it doesn't make you His Own, but His 'TRUE IMAGE' in you.
Prayer/Meditation
Lord Jesus, I thank You for all You have done and went through for my redemption. I gave all in my life to You, I renewed my covenant with You today, and helped me to remain in You for the rest of my life in the name of Jesus. Amen.
