Hon. Engr. Dominic Okafor's Team Pays Homage to Aguluezechukwu and Ezinifite Monarchs as Communities Celebrate New Yam Festivals
A delegation representing Hon. Engr. Dominic Ifeanyichukwu Okafor, FNSE, Member Representing Aguata Federal Constituency, Anambra State,over the weekend paid homage to the Traditional Rulers of Aguluezechukwu and Ezinifite, in celebration of their respective New Yam Festivals held on Friday, August 28, 2026.
The delegation, led by Hon. Dozie Akunne, first visited HRH Igwe F. E. Ebelendu (Nnayelugo), the revered Traditional Ruler of Aguluezechukwu, where they paid homage and conveyed the goodwill and warm felicitations of Hon. Engr. Dominic Okafor to the Monarch and the people of the community.
Hon. Engr. Dom Okafor, who holds the revered chieftaincy title of Omezilimba Aguluezechukwu, was represented at the celebration by the delegation, which joined the people in marking the age-long cultural festival and expressing gratitude to Almighty God for the blessings of the harvest and the continued peace and progress of the community.
The delegation also used the opportunity to celebrate the remarkable life and reign of HRH Igwe F. E. Ebelendu (Nnayelugo), whose longevity, wisdom and exemplary leadership have continued to inspire many and promote the enduring values of peace, unity and cultural preservation.
Later in the day, the delegation proceeded to Ezinifite, Aguata, where they also paid homage to HRH Igwe Bob Orji, Ezeugo Ato II, the Traditional Ruler of Ezinifite, as the community marked its own New Yam Festival.
The team conveyed the Legislator's goodwill to Igwe Bob Orji and the people of Ezinifite, identifying with them on the celebration and commending the community for sustaining its rich cultural traditions.
The visit to the two royal palaces reflected Hon. Engr. Dominic Okafor's continued respect for traditional institutions and recognition of the important role traditional rulers and cultural heritage play in promoting peace, unity, identity and community development across Aguata Federal Constituency.
The celebrations provided another opportunity for cultural renewal, thanksgiving and fellowship, as sons and daughters of the respective communities, friends and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the New Yam season and the enduring traditions of the people.
