Dalung Inaugurates 20th National Sports Festival Major Organising Committee

Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung on Tuesday at the National stadium, Abuja inaugurated Main Organising Committee for the 20th National Sports Festival christened 'Edo 2020'.

Skill acquisition is the ability to be trained on a particular
task or function and become expert in it. The reason why
many technicians earn more than some university graduates
is because the technicians acquired more skills than the
theories the graduates were fed with when they were in
school. Skill acquisition can take you to places you do not
expect to see yourself.
Today, there are many unemployed graduates in the world.
One of the major problems of education system in Africa is
that it lacks impacting of skills on students. According to
International Labour Congress, Africa have the highest
unemployment rate and Africa contribute just 4% to the
global revenue, This is due to lack of skills of a verse
African. The truth is that the lack of skills among these
vibrant youths to back up what they have learnt in school
really contributed to high rate of unemployment. If they have
learnt any skill while they were in school, it would have
reduced the level of unemployment drastically in Nigeria.
Skill is like the Key used in opening door of fortune. As
wanted is very important to fish, so also is skill needed in
the life of every serious minded individual. Skill can do a
great work in the life of every soul.
Importance Of Skill Acquisition Include The Following
1) Self Employed
A skill acquire man's self - employed man. If he knows what
he is doing he can never go hungry because the skill
acquired is enough for him to provide food for him on a
daily basis.
2) Job Opportunities
Those who has many skills start the chance of gaining
many jobs from different organisation.
3) Employment Generation
A skill acquired man can not do the work alone and
therefore, will employ one or two staff or have someone to
train on that skill.
4) Crime Reduction
It reduces Crime rate because people will begin to think on
their daily duties to make money when they have a job they
call their own.
Finally, skills open door to greatness, a skillful person
speaks with confidence while non skillful man is full of fear
and uncertainty.

Education refers to the process of impacting knowledge, skill, and judgement or the impactation of facts, skills, ideas that have been learned, either formally or informally. Therefore, If after graduation, one has no skill, he is rather a problem than a solution to the society.
