KAFANCHAN, KADUNA STATE | TUESDAY, 20 OCTOBER 2026
A STRATEGIC TOWN HALL MEETING FOR UNITY, HARMONISATION, AND A COMMON POLITICAL PURPOSE- Indeed, Kafanchan stood still as members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from across wards and local government areas of Southern Kaduna Senatorial District gathered to welcome the party's Kaduna State governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Isah Ashiru, and his entourage to a strategic town hall meeting on Tuesday, 20 October 2026.
The meeting was convened primarily to harmonise the different factions within the ADC in Kaduna State, bringing their respective leaders and supporters together under a common political vision. The gathering underscored the importance of unity, reconciliation, and collective commitment as the party works towards its goal of winning the Kaduna State governorship election.
DR. JOHN MARKUS AYUBA ASSURES ASHIRU OF SOUTHERN KADUNA'S SUPPORT
In his welcome address, Dr. John Markus Ayuba, Director-General of the Ashiru Campaign Council, warmly welcomed Rt. Hon. Mohammed Isah Ashiru and his entourage to Southern Kaduna.
Dr. Ayuba assured the governorship candidate of the readiness of the people of Southern Kaduna to work with him and mobilise support for his aspiration. He also drew attention to the concerns of the region, particularly the perceived marginalisation and inadequate attention given to Southern Kaduna in the distribution of government projects and development initiatives.
His message reflected the people's desire for inclusive governance, equitable development, and a government that recognises the needs and aspirations of every part of Kaduna State.
FACTIONAL LEADERS PLEDGE TO PURSUE A COMMON GOAL
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the different factional leaders within the ADC to address their followers and encourage reconciliation in the interest of the party.
Hon. Mohammed Tijani, Hon. Ben Bako, and Dr. Bege Mark were among the leaders whose participation highlighted the importance of bringing the different groups together.
Their contributions reinforced the need for party members to put aside personal differences, embrace mutual understanding, and work collectively towards a common objective.
The message was clear: internal disagreements must not be allowed to undermine the collective aspiration of the party. Rather, unity, mutual respect, and cooperation must become the foundation upon which the ADC builds its political strength in Kaduna State.
AMBASSADOR DEBORAH ILIYA CALLS ON WOMEN TO PREPARE FOR THE ELECTION
In her address, Ambassador Deborah Iliya encouraged women across Southern Kaduna to recognise their critical role in the democratic process.
She urged them to ensure that their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were ready ahead of election day and encouraged them to remain actively involved in the political process.
Her message emphasised that women must not stand on the sidelines of decisions that affect their families, communities, and future generations. Through voter participation, mobilisation, and peaceful engagement, women can make their voices count in determining the leadership of the state.
ASHIRU PROMISES INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENT AND A BETTER FUTURE FOR SOUTHERN KADUNA
In his response, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Isah Ashiru expressed appreciation to the people of Southern Kaduna for the impressive turnout and warm reception accorded him and his entourage.
He described the gathering as encouraging and a promising indication of the region's willingness to engage with his political aspiration.
Addressing the development concerns of Southern Kaduna, Ashiru spoke of his commitment, if elected governor, to providing good roads, creating employment opportunities for young people, and empowering women.
He particularly acknowledged the hardship experienced by the people of the region and described Southern Kaduna as the "orphans" of Kaduna State, drawing attention to the feeling of neglect and abandonment expressed by many in the area.
His remarks highlighted the need for a government that would prioritise infrastructure, expand economic opportunities, and ensure that Southern Kaduna receives the attention and development it deserves.
For the people of Southern Kaduna, the expectation is not merely political inclusion but tangible improvements in their daily lives: accessible roads, employment opportunities, economic empowerment, and essential social amenities that promote dignity and prosperity.
A CALL FOR YOUTH PARTICIPATION, PEACEFUL ENGAGEMENT, AND VOTER RESPONSIBILITY
The meeting also underscored the importance of active youth participation in the democratic process.
Young people were encouraged to obtain and safeguard their PVCs, turn out to vote on election day, and peacefully monitor the electoral process, including the counting of votes.
They were further urged to remain peaceful, respect security personnel, and exercise their democratic rights within the law. Defending the integrity of the electoral process, the message emphasised, must never become an excuse for violence.
Through responsible participation, vigilance, and lawful engagement, the youth can contribute meaningfully to credible elections and the protection of their votes.
A NEW CHAPTER OF UNITY FOR THE ADC IN SOUTHERN KADUNA?
The Kafanchan town hall meeting represents an important opportunity for the ADC to strengthen internal cohesion, reconcile its different leadership groups, and build a common platform for its political aspirations in Kaduna State.
Beyond the speeches, greetings, and political declarations, the real test will be the willingness of the party's leaders, stakeholders, aspirants, and members to translate the spirit of reconciliation into sustained cooperation at the ward, local government, zonal, and state levels.
As the party looks towards the forthcoming electoral contest, the message from Kafanchan is one of unity, inclusion, peaceful political participation, and a shared aspiration for development.
The task ahead is clear: harmonise the party, strengthen its structures, mobilise the electorate, and pursue its political objectives through peaceful and democratic means.
For Southern Kaduna, the ultimate hope is for a future in which development is inclusive, opportunities are accessible, and no community feels abandoned by the government.
Kafanchan has hosted the conversation. The responsibility now rests with the party's leadership and members to sustain the unity and cooperation necessary to turn these aspirations into reality.
