Today, I convened a stakeholder meeting on optimising the implementation of the $750 million World Bank-assisted State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) programme.

During interactions at the meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, I noted that a fully implemented SABER programme would help create a more predictable and transparent business environment.

I implored state governments to accelerate business-enabling reforms to unlock the full potential of the programme, and I listed other benefits of the programme to include attracting domestic and foreign investment, strengthening private-sector confidence, reducing the cost of doing business, expanding digital and physical infrastructure, improving access to land and commercial justice systems, and enhancing the competitiveness of the states.

These outcomes will translate into increased economic activity, higher productivity, job creation, improved internally generated revenue, and better living standards for our citizens.

Today, I received, on a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa, a delegation comprising the technical team from NEMA and SpaceX, led by the Director-General of NEMA, Hajiya Zubaida Umar.

During our interactions, I applauded the donation of specialised communication equipment to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) by the renowned satellite internet service provider, Starlink.

I described Nigeria’s partnership with SpaceX’s Starlink, one of the world’s largest satellite internet constellations, in enhancing emergency and disaster management in Nigeria as a collaboration that would improve NEMA’s response time and effective coordination in emergency interventions across the country.

Starlink has donated communication gadgets comprising 91 standard and mini kits to NEMA to enhance its operations during emergency interventions across the country.

Today in my office at the Presidential Villa, I received a delegation from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), led by its Director-General, Mr Daren Tang, and top Nigerian government officials, on a courtesy visit.

During our interactions, we agreed to actively deepen collaboration to turn Nigeria’s intellectual property (IP) into tangible financial assets.

The target is to commercialise research from Nigerian universities and support the creative economy through stronger technical cooperation, deeper institutional support, expanded capacity-building, among others.

I drew the WIPO delegation’s attention to Nigeria’s unmistakable ambition, which is to build an intellectual property system that serves the inventor and the investor, the researcher and the entrepreneur, the artiste and the industrialist, the farmer and the software engineer.

Before departing for Lagos today, where I led Governors from across the Federation to the Eid al-Adha luncheon and traditional Sallah homage to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I paid a courtesy visit to the Shehu of Borno, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi.

The visit reflected my abiding respect for the traditional institution and its enduring role in promoting unity, stability, and cultural values in society.

Earlier today, I led Nigerian Governors on a Sallah homage and Eid-el-Adha lunch with my boss, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Lagos.

In attendance were the Governors of Lagos, Nasarawa, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, Taraba, Niger, Ekiti, Delta, Ondo, Edo, Adamawa, Benue, Enugu, Ogun, and Kogi States, as well as the Deputy Governors of Borno and Kano.

In my remarks, I drew parallels to the teachings on the cost of faith and the meaning of surrender: as the path to greatness is not paved by convenience, but by the courage to give up what is easy so that what is necessary may live.

Today, I observed the Eid al-Kabir prayers at the Ramat Square Eid Ground in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

In my message, I called on political leaders and citizens across the country to approach the 2027 electoral season with maturity, tolerance, and a sense of national responsibility, warning against divisive rhetoric and actions capable of undermining peace and stability.

I assured Nigerians that both the Federal Government and sub-national governments are taking deliberate steps to cushion the effects of the economic challenges on citizens.

Today, I represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration of President Romuald Wadagni, where I noted that the Tinubu administration considers the Nigeria-Benin relationship strategic to regional integration and democratic stability within West Africa.

In my remarks, I reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and to a deeper strategic partnership with the Republic of Benin to sustain economic and democratic gains in the region.

I noted that both nations share a common destiny rooted in history, culture, trade, and a collective responsibility for regional security.

Earlier today, I departed Abuja for Cotonou to represent my boss, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the inauguration of Romuald Wadagni as the President of the Republic of Benin.

I will join other leaders across Africa and beyond at the event scheduled to take place at the Presidential Palace in Cotonou on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

Benin and Nigeria share deep historical, socio-cultural, and economic ties, though their modern bilateral relations are frequently defined by border security, trade policies, and energy cooperation.
