He hails from Ebem Ohafia and received his early education at Federal Government College Okigwe, where he obtained his first school leaving certificate (FSLC). He pursued higher education at the University of North London, earning a degree in Accounting. Driven by his passion for education, he pursued a second degree in International Business. Service Corps (NYSC) program in Lagos State, Ibe Okwara embarked on a career in the Financial Sector. Known for his belief in equity and justice, he has been actively involved in addressing societal imbalances, particularly in the mistreatment of the elderly. Through his notable charity work, he has made a positive impact on society. In recognition of his services to community development, he was honored with the chieftaincy title of Oke-Abba Ohafia 1 by the Ohafia Council of Chiefs on April 16, 2022. Career
Ibe Okwara’s professional journey began as an Advisory Analyst with Bromley Asset Management, where he played an active role in establishing the first mobile network in Nigeria (Econet). With years of experience in the financial sector, he went on to become a qualified SAP FICO consultant. He subsequently established his own private consultancy, offering financial advisory services to esteemed clients such as Deutsche Bank and Merrill Lynch. His consultancy has delivered exceptional advice and solutions across diverse sectors, including telecommunications, oil and gas, media, manufacturing, business management, and construction. In 2016, Ibe Okwara co-founded People’s Grassroot Social Equality and Development Initiative Nigeria (PSGEDI), an initiative focused on empowering Nigerian youth through charitable donations. He is also a founding member of the People’s Equity Movement, a political platform advocating for the equal participation of young Nigerians in political. Politics
As an economist, technocrat, and politician, Ibe Okwara represents the Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency of Abia State in the House of Representatives. He began his political journey as the flag bearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and later transitioned to the Labour Party. On June 16, 2022, he was presented with a certificate of return by the Labour Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) as their candidate for the Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency. In the subsequent House of Representatives election held on February 25, 2023, he emerged victorious, securing the seat. Family
Ibe Okwara was born into the family of Chief Okwara Osonwa Okwara and Chief Mrs. Grace Okwara. He is a devout Christian, a dedicated family man, and happily married to Abosede Okwara. Their blessed union has been enriched by the presence of three beautiful children. Motions Moved
Ibe Okwara is a firm believer in equity and takes action to challenge the injustices he observes in society. In 2017, he initiated a foundation that provided food to the Gongola Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Abuja. Through strategic partnerships with NGOs, he has organized free medical and healthcare outreaches in Arochukwu and Ohafia LGA, amounting to a contribution of US$3.5 million in 2018 and 2019. During the pandemic, his foundation distributed palliative materials to communities, and in response to distress calls, it provided relief materials to Nkporo communities affected by heavy flooding. On October 18, 2020, during the decentralized social movement End SARS protests at the Lekki toll gate, Ibe Okwara Osonwa fearlessly spoke truth to power. With resilience and passion, he highlighted the urgent need to end the horrendous violence. Vision
Ibe Okwara’s vision is rooted in the pain and struggles experienced by his people. He perceives himself as a selfless servant leader entrusted with fighting for the interests of the people of the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency. His primary goal is to effectively serve the people and enhance their quality of life. His inclusive approach, integrity, and empathy drive him to involve the entire community in the decision making process. Policy-making and legislation: Actively participating in the development and implementation of policies and legislation that benefit constituents and the nation at large. Ibe Okwara strives to make informed decisions that support good governance while upholding fundamental principles of equality, inclusiveness, and fairness. Public health concerns: Recognizing deficiencies in local and national healthcare systems, Ibe Okwara intends to propose and support policies that improve access to quality healthcare, disease prevention, mental health support, funding research, and investing in frontline workers. Happy new month, Arochukwu/Ohafia.

September brings us into the last stretch of the year, and I hope it treats every household in this constituency kindly. To our farmers as the harvest continues, to our traders, to our students returning to their studies, and to every family working quietly at whatever they have put their hands to, may this month reward your effort.

There is work ahead of us, and I am looking forward to it.

On the 14th of January 2025, I stood on the floor of the House of Representatives and moved a motion on the Nmuri Bridge and the F107 Road in our constituency .

I told the House that ₦17.49 billion had been allocated to that road since 2018, and that our people were still burying their dead on it. Seven lives were lost in a single accident on the 22nd of December 2024, and that road has taken many more before and since.

And I named the contractor. Hartland Setraco. I asked the House for a full investigation into how that money had been spent and into the contractor's role, and the House adopted the motion.

Today, the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has ordered the arrest of the Managing Director of Hartland Nigeria Limited over the non-performance of a separate ₦14 billion contract, demanded a refund of the money paid, and ordered an audit of every payment certificate the company holds across all its jobs.

I take no satisfaction in this. Families in this constituency are carrying losses that no arrest will reverse.

But I want our people to understand what this office is for. When public money is spent and there is nothing on the ground to show for it, somebody has to say so, on the record, in a place where it counts. I said it in January 2025, and I would say it again tomorrow.

Accountability is not a favour anyone does for us. It is what we are owed.

Thirty-five years ago today, Abia State was created.

What we have built since has come largely from the character of our people. The Abia trader who opened a shop in a city where he knew nobody. The teacher who stayed when it would have been easier to leave. The families who sent their children to school on harvests that barely covered it.

I do not think anyone would pretend the thirty-five years have been smooth. There were long seasons when our roads embarrassed us and our institutions were left to decay, and our people carried that with a patience they should never have needed.

But look at Abia now.

Under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR), roads that had been abandoned for a generation are being rebuilt, our schools are being restored to something we can be proud of, and the state is being run with a seriousness many of us had stopped expecting in our lifetime. Whatever anyone's politics, that shift is visible to anybody with eyes.

And in Arochukwu/Ohafia we have felt it directly, in bridges, in roads, in schools, and in a partnership that has opened doors for our communities.

To every son and daughter of this state, at home and abroad, happy 35th anniversary. What our fathers began, we are obliged to finish properly.

I was at the Hilton Kensington, to stand with my dear friend and brother Chief Chijioke James Ume (Ike Abam) as he received the African Hero Award at the 15th edition of the Voice Achievers Award.

The recognition is for years of humanitarian work, much of it through the Unubiko Foundation.

Those of us who know him will tell you the award describes what he has always been rather than conferring anything new on him. He has spent years quietly lifting people who could do nothing for him in return, and he has never once needed to be asked.

A son of Abam, honoured on a global stage for a life he has been living quietly at home.

Congratulations, my brother. Arochukwu/Ohafia is proud of you.

At our consultation in Ihechiowa, a man stood up to speak about his daughter.

She had surgery during our free medical outreach in July. He wanted to say what that had meant for his family, and he said it in front of everybody.

Then he added something I will carry with me for a long time. That if I chose to run five times, he would vote for me every time.

We do not do this work for clicks, shares, likes or follows. We do it for humanity. Testimonies like this reaffirm our beliefs and strengthen our commitment to service.

As a servant leader for the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, I remain dedicated to putting people first and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

To that father, and to his daughter, may God keep you both.

Three years ago, I came into this office with a list of things that should not still be true of a people like ours.

Some of that list has been dealt with.

Children in Ozu Abam, Nkporo and Abia Ohafia no longer learn in ruins, because a child taught in a broken building learns something about their own worth that no lesson can undo. Ofali Agwu in Amaekpu became Abia State's first Smart School, and the Governor came himself to commission it and declare it the standard for the whole state, which means an idea born in our constituency is now shaping classrooms far beyond it.

Umuye Ihechiowa is no longer waiting twenty-four years for clean water, and neither are Ugwuakuma or Okon Aku. Water close to home is not a small thing. It is hours returned to a woman every single day, for the rest of her life. And Amoba received a transformer of its own, the first dedicated supply in the community's history.

Two hundred of our children sat examinations in their own wards and won full scholarships to higher institutions, because talent has never been scarce here, only opportunity. Over a hundred of our young people hold laptops and ICT certificates, in a world where that skill now sits beneath almost every profession worth having.

And in one of the largest empowerment exercises this constituency has known, drawn from more than fifteen thousand applications, beneficiaries in every single ward received buses, tricycle trucks, motorcycles, sewing machines, grinding machines, refrigerators and generators. Not money, which finishes, but tools, which keep earning long after the ceremony has ended and feed a household for years.

Over nine thousand of our people were treated free of charge in July, and thirty-eight had surgery that cost them nothing, some of it postponed for years because the money was never there.

Our markets are lit on both sides of this constituency, so that a woman closing her stall after dark is safer than she was. Isu has been raised on the floor of the House more than once. A widow the Ministry had stopped answering now has her name in the record of the National Assembly, and so does the demand of Idima Abam for a proper investigation into the deaths of four of their sons.

Some of the list has not been dealt with.

As the campaign begins, what I will tell you is what comes next.

The roads get completed. The light reaches our homes. The hospital is pursued until it stands. That work is already moving, and I intend to see it through.

To everyone who has walked this with me, in the villages, the markets and the compounds, thank you. Now let us go and finish it properly.

Ututu came out, and It was felt.

Our supporters and pro-groups filled that room, spoke their minds, and left me in no doubt about where they stand. That is the kind of engagement I value most, direct, honest, and without pretence.

There is real energy in this constituency right now. I can feel it moving from community to community, and Ututu carried it well.

To everyone who came, thank you. Hold that spirit. We are only getting started.

The women of Inyom Ebem Ohafia held their August meeting, and I was represented by my sister, Chief Mrs. Orieji Okwara-Emele.

I thank Inyom Ebem for the honour of that invitation, and for the warmth with which she was received on my behalf.

Our August meetings are among the most important gatherings we have. They are where our women take stock of the year, settle the affairs of the community, and make the decisions that hold families and villages together. Very little in Ebem moves without them.

I have always said that our women are the backbone of this community, and I do not say it lightly. I remain committed to programmes that support and empower them.

To the leadership and every member of Inyom Ebem Ohafia, I wish you a successful meeting and a blessed season.

I spent time with our supporters and pro-groups in Nkporo, and I left that meeting encouraged.

Nkporo has been part of this work from the beginning. The classroom block at Ukwa Community Primary School stands completed and furnished. Ugwu Ufie PHC in Elughu Nkporo served as one of our six centres during the free medical outreach. Nkporo was named in the erosion motion I moved on the floor of the House. Streetlights, relief, and scholarship examinations open to Nkporo students on the same terms as every other ward.

None of that happened by chance. It happened because I do not believe any community in this constituency should have to raise its voice to be remembered.

To everyone who came out, thank you. I hear you, and I am still working.

I joined our party family for the Labour Party Ohafia LGA strategic meeting, convened at the behest of our Senatorial Candidate for Abia North, Chief David Ogba Onuoha (Bourdex).

These meetings matter more than the noise that surrounds politics. This is where the actual work of an election is done: ward by ward, structure by structure, with people who understand their own communities better than any strategist ever could.

In 2023, Abia North was the only senatorial district that delivered all five local government areas to the Labour Party, and we did that without holding the state government. Today, with the record of His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR) standing in plain view across Abia, we have every reason to do more.

But nothing is won on the strength of a past result. It is won by organisation, by unity, and by turning up in every polling unit.

One Abia North. One movement. One Labour Party.
