As we mark World Breastfeeding Week 2026, NASCP joins the global call to Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems that empower mothers to breastfeed with confidence.

For mothers living with HIV, staying on treatment and following healthcare providers' guidance makes breastfeeding safer while giving babies the life-saving benefits of breast milk.

Together, we can strengthen support systems and accelerate the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV.

At , we had the opportunity to see the first prototype of Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. generic lenacapavir for HIV prevention. Just over a year after regulatory approval, this affordable generic version is on track to become available to 120 low- and middle-income countries in record time.

Thanks to an agreement negotiated by Unitaid, Clinton Health Access Initiative and Wits RHI last year, the generic will be available at US$40 per person per year – bringing this twice-yearly injectable PrEP option to a price on par with oral PrEP and helping countries introduce this breakthrough HIV prevention tool faster and at an affordable price.

As it becomes available by end of year, the focus must be on ensuring it reaches the people who need it most.

Three words. One life-saving message.

Test - Know your hepatitis status.
Vaccinate - Protect yourself and your loved ones against Hepatitis B.
Treat - Early diagnosis and treatment save lives and prevent liver disease.

Viral hepatitis is preventable, detectable, and treatable. Don't wait for symptoms.

Test. Vaccinate. Treat. Together, we can eliminate viral hepatitis.

On this World Hepatitis Day, NASCP joins the global community in reaffirming its commitment to eliminating viral hepatitis as a public health threat.

This year's theme, "Hepatitis: Let's Break It Down," calls for collective action to improve awareness, expand access to Hepatitis B vaccination, promote early testing, and ensure timely treatment.

NASCP encourages all Nigerians to know their hepatitis status, get tested, get vaccinated against Hepatitis B, and seek appropriate care when needed.

Together, let's break down the barriers and end hepatitis in Nigeria.

NASCP successfully concluded a 5-day residential GC8 HIV Grant Development Workshop from 20 - 24 July 2026, at Exclusive Serene Hotel Wuye Abuja, bringing together Heads of Units, Technical Leads, and Technical Partners.

Following Nigeria's nomination of NASCP as the Principal Recipient (PR) for the Global Fund Grant Cycle 8 (GC8) HIV Grant and the submission of the funding request, the workshop focused on developing the grant's strategic interventions, measurable indicators, programme targets, budget, and other key implementation documents.

The collaborative engagement strengthened technical alignment among stakeholders and reinforced NASCP's commitment to delivering a high-impact, evidence-driven HIV programme that will accelerate progress towards ending AIDS as a public health threat in Nigeria.

Together, we are strengthening Nigeria's HIV response through strategic planning, collaboration, and innovation.
