NHIA DG Bags Two Awards at Staff Cooperative AGM
Kelechi Ohiri, Director-General/CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has been honoured with two prestigious awards at the 9th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the NHIA Staff Thrift and Credit Cooperative Society (NHIASTCCS), held in Abuja.
The first recognition, the Award of Excellence, was presented by Abdullahi Yusuf on behalf of the Executive Committee and members of the Society. The award acknowledged Dr. Ohiri’s exemplary leadership, unwavering support, and sustained commitment to the growth, stability, and welfare of the Cooperative Society.
According to the Cooperative leadership, the DG/CEO’s consistent encouragement and goodwill since assuming office have significantly strengthened member confidence and enhanced the Society’s operational visibility. His regular participation in the Society’s AGMs was also commended as a strong demonstration of institutional solidarity and commitment to staff welfare.
Dr. Ohiri also received the Cooperative Ambassador Award, presented by Emmanuel Atama, in recognition of his outstanding support for the NHIA Staff Cooperative Society and his broader contributions toward strengthening cooperative development in Nigeria.
The awards further highlight the growing recognition of the DG/CEO’s people-centred leadership style and his commitment to promoting staff welfare, financial inclusion, and institutional cohesion within the Authority.
In his response, Dr. Ohiri expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the Cooperative Society, as well as the Abuja Cooperative Federation, for the honour. He reaffirmed Management’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance staff welfare, strengthen institutional unity, and promote cooperative development within the NHIA.
The AGM also featured presentations on the Society’s performance and renewed commitments from members toward strengthening the Cooperative’s impact and sustainability. The event brought together members of NHIA Management, staff, and cooperative stakeholders for reflections on the Society’s achievements and future direction.
