The Ogun State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board was established on 6th February, 1985 by the then Military Governor of Ogun State, Brig. Oladipupo Diya in accordance with the Ogun State Gazette No. 33 Vol. 8. The Law amended the Ogun State Military Government Edict No. 8 of 1976 in Gazette No. 34 Vol. I of 9th December, 1of 9th December, 1976
Ogun State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, by virtue

of said Law, was statutorily charged with the following responsibilities, in collaboration with the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Abuja. They are:
(i) Organization of Christian Pilgrims to the Holy Land. (ii) Protection and safeguard for the pilgrims as well as ensuring their welfare to and from places approved for pilgrimage. (iii) Formulation of necessary policies and regulation essential to achieving the objectives of the pilgrimage. (iv) Liaison with Christians through the Ogun State Branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and other religious bodies. (v) Management and control of Board officers. (vi) Performing other responsibilities referred to the Board by the State Government from time to time. (vii) Other related assignment referred to it by the Government.
