Who The Cap Fits Should Wear It: Barrister Livinus Obasi Onu, And Onicha West Question.

In the year 1976, Bob Marley and the Wailers released "Who the Cap Fits," specifically on April 30, 1976, as a track on their album Rastaman Vibration.

"Who the cap fits," entails a system, or institution where those who are "tested and trusted," should oversee the helm of affairs. People shouldn't be entrusted into political offices because of " One Oga at the Top," "godfatherism," and to settle some political thugs and family members.

Politics shouldn't be about settlements, it should fall under the umbrella of competence, and "know how." How can can someone who studied Geology, or Architecture be allowed or appointed to head a health ministry. "Make una chekam na."

Nigeria is replete with bad governance because we always put square pegs in round holes, and it has done us more harm than good. Most of the people currently in the States and National Assemblies know next to nothing about lawmaking and governance. They lack the requisite knowledge, intellectual depth, legislative competence, and legal acumen required to craft laws, scrutinize policies, and effectively represent the interests of the people, because they were actually elected to make laws. The result is obvious: poorly conceived bills, executive recklessness, and a legislature that often rubber-stamps rather than checks power.

This is why the good and wonderful people of Onicha West must seize this opportunity to do things differently, and get it right. Let me say "for the first time in our lifetime."

Barrister Livinus Obasi Onu is a tested legal practitioner, a lawyer in every sense of the word, who is on cue to represent our constituency under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He understands the Constitution, legislative processes, drafting of bills, oversight functions, and the intricate workings of lawmaking. Onicha West State Assembly Constituency Mourns the Passing of Chief Ozougo Uwadiegwu Onu Nwafor, Father of the 2027 PDP Candidate for Onicha West State constituency.

In a time meant for strategic planning, fervent prayers, and hopeful permutations toward the 2027 elections, Onicha West has been plunged into deep sorrow. The heart-wrenching news of the demise of a beloved husband and a wonderful father has brought the constituency to its knees in mourning.

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Chief Ozougo Uwadiegwu Onu Nwafor, who departed this world on Saturday, 6th June 2026, to be with the Lord.

Chief Ozougo was more than a father he was a beacon of peace, a man of integrity, and a friend to all. His life was a shining example of kindness, wisdom, and selfless service to humanity. He touched countless lives, built bridges of unity, and left an indelible mark on everyone privileged to know him.
