IN NIGERIA TODAY, GOVERNOR FRANCIS OGBONNA NWIFURU STANDS TALL AS A CHAMPION OF HEALTHCARE DELIVERY – Development Centre Coordinators Forum

…Commends Free Emergency Transportation and Critical Medical Care Initiative

The Forum of Development Centre Coordinators, Ebonyi State has lauded Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his visionary and compassionate leadership, particularly in transforming the healthcare sector of Ebonyi State. Conveying this commendation, the Chairman of the Forum, Hon. Chidi Ogbonna stated that the operationalization of the Ebonyi State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (EBSEMSAS) is transformational.

Hon. Ogbonna described the initiative as a game-changer in maternal and child healthcare, directly addressing the challenges of delayed emergency response. He noted that under this administration, General hospitals have iconic, factory-fitted ambulances that respond promptly to emergencies.

He also saluted the Governor for revitalizing the healthcare workforce, which had suffered from severe understaffing due to years of neglect. For the first time in decades, healthcare professionals were recruited en masse, an action that helped curb the proliferation of unregulated medical practices and significantly improved service delivery.

In addition to their recruitment, medical doctors were provided with SUVs to enhance mobility and service delivery, alongside a competitive and robust monthly salary ensuring motivation and retention.

Hon. Chief Ogbonna concluded with a note of optimism and pride in the governor’s leadership, stating:

‘We are proud to be part of this transformational era. We have a governor who believes that governance should work for all, regardless of status.’

Today, the progress in Ebonyi State’s healthcare sector is real, people-centered, and sustainable. His Excellency, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is building not just for the present, but for future generations with wisdom, compassion, and accountability.

The Chairman Forum of Development Center Coordinators Ebonyi State, Hon. Chidi Ogbonna yesterday led the team of Development Center Coordinators to the OKE-AKU EZAA Grand Finale Ceremony at Ezza Ezekuna Civic Center, Onueke.

It's was indeed heartwarming and memorable event as they were on ground to cheer and also share in the blessings of the Ezekuna people in her rich Cultural values and norms which the annual OKE-AKU EZAA (New Yam Festival) validates.

The Chairman of the Forum expressed immense Joy for the kind of undiluted peace and unity that is currently evident in all the corners of Ezza Ezekuna Land that was hitherto ridden by communal breaches. He stated emphatically that with the existing peace in Ezza Land he was optimistic that Ezza Ezekuna Land will now experience total and unwavering breakthrough in both material and human endeavors. He eulogized His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State for restoring peace in all the parts of the State.

Hon Chidi Ogbonna said that Ezza is so blessed and enriched with men and women of impeccable characters. And urged the people of Ezza to remain peaceful, united and focused knowing full well that peace and unity is the bedrock of every success and that in no distant time Ezza people shall stand taller as the first Son of Ekumenyi.

Hon. Chidi appreciated the Leader of Ezza, High Chief Hon. Ugo Chima for the warm reception he accorded the Forum of Development Center Coordinators Ebonyi State at his Echara Country Home, Onueke. He equally expressed his deepest appreciation in the manner the Coordinators of the various Development Centers in Ezza South L.G.A received them during the event.

OVERSIGHT VISIT: MGBABELUZOR BRIDGE’S MASSIVE DIMENSIONS STUN IZZI LGA LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL MEMBERS

…says, ‘The bridge’s foundation and the depth of water it spans could be likened to the deep sea of the Atlantic Ocean.’

The Mgbabeluzor Bridge, a colossal marvel of modern engineering whose staggering size and depth shattered all expectations, left the members of Izzi LGA Legislative Council utterly astonished during their recent oversight visit to the Ominyi Development Centre.

The legislative Council members, led by Hon. Ominyi Nwabueze Titus, expressed deep admiration after a firsthand inspection of the bridge and several kilometres of graded and laterited rural roads executed under the leadership of Hon. Chief Chidi Ogbonna (Ohamadike), Coordinator of Ominyi DC and the Chairman, Ebonyi State Coordinators’ Forum. They described the scale of the project as nothing short of oceanic, with one member noting that the bridge’s foundation and the depth of the water it spans could be likened to the deep sea of the Atlantic Ocean.

Equally striking was the bridge’s remarkable width, which the members of the legislative council compared to an expansive double-lane highway with pedestrian walkways, emphasizing the project's scale and ambition. They praised the Coordinator’s courage and vision in taking up such a monumental project, noting that a venture of this magnitude would intimidate even a Council Chairman, let alone a DC Coordinator.

The Mgbabeluzor Bridge, still under construction, is quickly emerging as a significant feat of engineering within Izzi LGA. A project of this magnitude is crucial in unlocking the economic potential of rural communities by improving connectivity, facilitating access to markets, and promoting commercial agriculture, in line with the People’s Chatter of Needs blueprint of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Prince Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, FNIOB, FCAI, GGCEHF, Governor of Ebonyi State.

It is enough to say that the bridge stands as a powerful representation of what visionary leadership can achieve. As the bridge nears completion, it holds the promise of transforming the socio-economic landscape of Ominyi DC and its surrounding Development Centres, setting a new standard for rural infrastructure development in Ebonyi State and beyond.

The Ebonyi State Coordinators Forum has once again expressed its appreciation to Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, commending his swift and decisive response following the brutal massacre of peaceful Ebonyi indigenes in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

In a statement issued on July 8, 2025, the Forum’s leader, Hon. Chief Chidi Ogbonna, praised the Governor’s bold initiatives aimed at ensuring accountability and transparency in the wake of the tragic events of June 30.

The attack, widely condemned as a ‘barbaric massacre’ and a ‘cold-blooded execution’, claimed the lives of law-abiding Ebonyians who had gathered for their routine monthly meeting. The Forum described the killings as a ‘flagrant violation of constitutionally protected rights to life, liberty, and peaceful assembly.’

‘We commend our proactive Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Prince Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, GGCEHF, for the steps he has taken so far regarding this tragedy. His commitment to truth, justice, and the protection of every Ebonyi life, whether at home or in the diaspora, is a true mark of leadership,’ the statement read.

The Forum’s remarks add to the growing chorus of outrage from across Ebonyi State and beyond. Civil society organizations, human rights advocates, and community leaders have all called for an urgent, independent, and transparent investigation into the killings.

Recall that the wonder working Governor of Ebonyi State, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru had emphasized that justice must not only be done, but must be seen to be done. He urged relevant federal and state authorities, including the Anambra State Government and security agencies to act swiftly and decisively in identifying and prosecuting the perpetrators.

For Ebonyi State Coordinators Forum, this is more than a pursuit of justice, it is a solemn call to rise above bloodshed and uphold the sanctity of life. Justice must be sought not only for the slain, but for the protection of every Nigerian’s right to safety, dignity, and peaceful coexistence.
