YB Dato Lukanisman bin Awang Sauni, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, today visited the Embassy and signed a Book of Condolence. Deputy Minister YB Dato Lukanisman, on behalf of the Government and people of Malaysia, extended sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies on the loss of lives in the flash floods in the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers in Nepal on 26 August 2026.

Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Ms. Mudita Bajracharya, on behalf of the Government of Nepal, thanked the Deputy Minister for condolences and solidarity with the people of Nepal during this time of grief. Ms. Bajracharya also expressed gratitude to the Government of Malaysia for its generosity in extending financial support.

STATEMENT ON NEPAL-CHINA FLASH FLOODS

I am deeply distressed by the catastrophic flash floods that have struck the Nepal-China border region. Malaysia extends its deepest condolences to the Governments and peoples of Nepal and China, and to all those who have lost loved ones or await news of missing relatives.

Our Embassy in Kathmandu is working closely with the relevant authorities to assist the Malaysians affected. Officers from the Malaysian High Commission in Dhaka are also being deployed to reinforce these efforts on the ground. I have directed that our mission be provided with every resource it needs. The Government will remain fully engaged until the Malaysians affected are accounted for and their families have the support they need.

I commend the courage and dedication of the search and rescue personnel working under extraordinarily difficult conditions. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.
