From the streets of Copenhagen to the skyscrapers of Kuala Lumpur, our new intern, Asbjørn Lustrup, should have no trouble finding his way around!

Asbjørn brings a background in economics, currently pursuing a Master's degree at the University of Copenhagen, as well as experience in data analytics and a healthy appetite for Malaysian adventures. Having previously worked at the Danish Tax Agency and served in the Royal Danish Life Guards, he brings an unusual combination of numbers, discipline and curiosity to the team.

Now he is looking forward to getting to know Malaysia — from eating his way through the local food scene to travelling across the country and discovering the people, places and cultures that make it so distinctive.

A very warm welcome to the team, Asbjørn! We're excited to have you on board — and at 194 cm, he shouldn't be too difficult to spot around the office. We're curious to see how many Malaysian adventures he can squeeze in while he's here!

And if you’re interested in doing an internship just like Asbjørn, applications are open now: https://um.dk/malaysia/en/vacancies/praktik-paa-den-danske-ambassade-i-malaysia/

Góða Ólavsøku! Happy Ólavsøka! Today is the National Day of the Faroe Islands! 🇫🇴

The Faroe Islands is an archipelago of 18 mountainous islands in the North Atlantic and is a self-governing country within The Kingdom of Denmark.

Did you know that rowing is the national sport of the Faroe Islands? Ólavsøka marks the end of the rowing season. There is even a local saying that the Faroese are born with oars in their hands – a nod to how deeply the sea and seamanship are woven into their history and daily life.

We wish the Faroe Islands a happy celebration!

After 19 incredible years working with us, we say thank you to our Consular and Administrative Officer, Claudine Valerio!

You have truly seen it all. Even after the embassy closed and reopened, we still needed you back because nobody could replace your institutional memory, experience, and calm presence.

Thank you for your service, your kindness, patience, and warmth throughout the years and of course for constantly spoiling us with desserts, snacks, and your unforgettable cakes.

For nearly two decades, countless Danes walking into the Embassy for help, guidance, or support would have met you first. You became part of the heart of the Embassy and an important part of the Danish community in Malaysia.

We will miss you, and we hope our paths continue to cross for many years to come!
