Five members of IWC Butterworth comprising President Dr Lalitha Ramasamy, Secretary Molly Anne Morris, Treasurer Ganga Devi Ganesh, Committee Member Sellam Murugiah and District 330’s Secretary Lucy Barrock accompanied by three teenaged children took a short ‘breakation’ to Ipoh over 2 days and a night from 30th to 31st May.
They packed themselves into two cars and enjoyed themselves thoroughly from the get go, stopping briefly for breakfast at a popular R&R on the Highway followed by a visit to the Japanese Garden which offered several photo opportunities. They had lunch at a Banana leaf restaurant before checking in to their holiday apartment.
In the evening they enjoyed North Indian cuisine followed by a cake cutting to celebrate Mothers’ Day. There was much laughter as the children played games and watched TV. The merriment continued into the wee hours as Molly’s talent for singing shone through as she belted out songs in various languages to her awestruck roommates. Then Sellam regaled with stories of her youth and encounters with the supernatural.
The next day they had brunch and headed to the Royal town of Kuala Kangsar where they posed at Malaysia’s oldest Rubber tree and at the zero milestone marker outside the post office to nurture a new hobby inspired by Ganga who is an avid hunter of zero milestone markers. There are plans to organise more such outings to foster close ties amongst members.
