Forget ticking animals off a list.

This is about experiencing the bush differently.

Cycle beneath towering baobabs, take in the zebra grazing nearby, and enjoy the freedom of exploring the conservancy at your own pace. The conservancy is free of dangerous predators, making it one of the few places where guests can safely explore the bush by bicycle or on foot, in a way that's both peaceful and unforgettable.

Wild, but wonderfully unhurried. 🚴🦓

CLASSIFIED.

We can neither confirm nor deny that something very exciting is heading to the Shire Valley.

Let’s just say that after more than two years of planning, the Thangadzi River Conservancy is about to welcome some very special new residents.

The secret won’t stay hidden for much longer…

As Malawi celebrates Independence Day, we celebrate something else worth protecting – our natural heritage. 🇲🇼

From the wetlands of Elephant Marsh to the forests and wildlife of the Lower Shire Valley, Malawi is home to extraordinary ecosystems.

Protecting these places isn’t just about wildlife. It’s about supporting communities, safeguarding livelihoods, and preserving the natural legacy that defines our nation.

Together, we can ensure Malawi’s independence includes a future where nature continues to flourish.

A huge congratulations to the One Love Sisters, Nyamitalala Sisters, and Kaombe Sisters on receiving their medals at the recent netball tournament, proudly sponsored by our partner and funder, Kaombe Sugar Ranch. 🏅🏐

It was wonderful to see so many talented players come together for a day of friendly competition, teamwork, and community spirit.

Conservation is about so much more than protecting wildlife. It’s also about supporting the people who call this landscape home, and we’re proud to play a small part in initiatives like these.

Well done, Sisters! We hope you wear those medals with pride. 💚

The Lilongwe Wildlife Trust is one of our favourite places to visit when we’re in Lilongwe – perfect for a peaceful walk, a great coffee, or simply a surprisingly tranquil escape from the city.

Like many conservation organizations, they – and we – need support to continue the vital work of protecting Malawi’s incredible wildlife. If you’re in Lilongwe, why not drop in to LWT? Every visit makes a difference.

Who says you have to go looking for wildlife?

During a recent two-night stay, one of our guests spotted all of these animals from the lodge’s relaxation area.

“We were sitting quietly reading when they just ambled past… although the porcupine gave us quite a fright when we got back to our villa!”

Sometimes the most memorable sightings happen when you least expect them. At Thangadzi Lodge, the bush has a wonderful way of coming to you.
