INTRODUCTION:
Kandoli Mountain conservation Trust (KMCT) is an environmental endowment trust based in Nkhata-Bay.The trust works in collaboration with department of forest and stake holders in facilitating the raising peoples awareness involvement and understanding of the importance of the conservation and responsible management of the biodiversity and natural resources in the Kandoli Mountain Fo
rest Reserve and ensure equitable sharing of benefits thereof. KMCT believes that sustainable development is at the heart of conservation efforts,hence it pursues its mission to facilitate responsible management of the mountains resources by involving communities around the reserve whose livelihoods are dependent on its resources.KMCT believes that solutions to conserve must involve local people and they should acknowledge importance of the mountain and the forest reserve to them. KMCT also works in collaboration and partnership with various government departments ,non-governmental organizations,,community based organizations, schools,youth groups,faith organizations,individual and institution with similar objectives to the trust or with interest in Kandoli Mountain and its unique forest reserve. VISION STATEMENT. KMCT is to achieve a kandoli mountain forest reserve that is responsibly managed and equitable benefiting all. MISSION STATEMENT. KMCT strives to facilitate conservation,research,management and increased understanding of kandoli mountain and its resource in a a transparent ,professional,committed and collaborative attitude at all levels. AIM AND OBJECTIVES. To promote the research connection with the conservation and wise management of Kandoli mountain. To advise on sustainable use of natural resources and biodiversity of kandoli mountain. To raise public awareness on conservation and wise management of kandoli mountain . To promote the collection and dissemination of environmental cultural and social information and advice concerning kandoli mountain. To do such all other lawful things as incidental or conducive to the environment of the above objectives. To in cooperate the cultural ,spiritual and socio-economic values of the local people into the development and management of the mountain. To cooperate with,become a member of or otherwise assist anybody within or outside Malawi with objectives altogether or in part similar to those of the trust. (Kandoli Mountain Conservation Trust have adopted a set of core values that act as the behavior code which guide all activities as we execute KMCT mandate.) THESE ARE:
