📚 EARLY LEARNING AT HOME IS BOOMING 🏠✨

At Nachikodowa CBO, we asked: Do children learn only at CBCC? No! Learning starts at HOME.

Here is what parents told us:

1️⃣ Offering learning opportunities at home:
📍 Baseline: 72.5% → 📍 Endline: 94.7%
That’s almost EVERY parent now playing, singing, telling stories, counting with their children at home!

2️⃣ Books & play materials at home:
📍 Baseline: 42.5% → 📍 Endline: 66.7%
More homes now have locally made toys, picture books, bottle tops for counting!

. 7 YEARS OF IMPACT. ❤️

Since 2019, Nachikodowa CBO has partnered with Firelight Foundation to implement the Early Childhood Development program using the [CDSC] Approach.

Through this journey, our team has been capacitated in:
ECD - Nurturing Care Framework | Child Protection & Safeguarding (we developed our own policy) | Resource Mobilization | Financial Management | Government & Community Engagement | Communication & Marketing | Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning and more.

Last week on 10th & 11th September 2026, we met at Nalipiri Eco Resort with fellow CBOs Malilima CBO and Children Of Hope Organization in Mulanje alongside government officials from the District Social Welfare Office, Agriculture Department, and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare - Headquarters, Lilongwe to validate the End-line Survey findings.

! 🎓📚

What a wonderful day it was yesterday at Nachikodowa CBO! We hosted a graduation ceremony to celebrate the amazing 53 students from our catchment area who have been selected to various secondary schools. It was full of joy, pride, and hope as we honored their hard work and bright futures.

As part of the celebration, Nachikodowa CBO donated 318 exercise books and 53 pens to support their journey. Each of the 53 students received 6 exercise books and 1 pen to help them start strong in Form 1. We were honored to have Group Village Head Nyezerera as our Guest of Honor, joined by other Chiefs who came to show their support. We also thank Mr. Blessings Kwalata from the Child Protection Office for delivering an inspiring speech to the students and parents.

Yesterday reminded us of the power of togetherness and inclusion. When the community comes together to empower young minds, great things happen. Every speech, every cheer, and every donation fueled these students for the road ahead. We congratulate each and every one of them and encourage them to work hard and make their community proud. A big to everyone from the community who contributed towards this donation. As Nachikodowa CBO, we are grateful for the impact we are making together!

NACHIKODOWA CBO MEETS CHIMWABVI CBO

There is always a great outcome when communities come together to work on a common goal.

Nachikodowa CBO took a great step today by visiting Chimwabvi CBO which is in Group Village Head Mulasa, Traditional Authority Chikumbu Mulanje. This meeting was held at Chimwabvi CBO where members and executives of the CBO and Nachikodowa CBO executives were present and also Mr Ingolo who is a Child Protection Worker in the area.

The agenda of this meeting were to strengthen and empower the CBO and enhance partnership between the two CBOs. Initiatives of common interests were discussed for instance, Youth empowerment, Girls empowerment on education and the upcoming project of Ending Child Marriages which is about to be implemented in the T/A chikumbu area.

Chimwabvi CBO is growing and we were pleased to see the coordination they have within different committees.

Nachikodowa CBO shared some of the work ethics of a CBO and how a CBO and its members can empower the communities through collaborations.

We thank all CBO members and executives from both CBOs for taking part in this meeting. Community collaborations are a great way to build a nation.

TO EMPOWER COMMUNITIES 🤝

It was inspiring to see communities come together for a common goal.

Today, Nachikodowa CBO had the opportunity to visit Thabwa CBO in Tambala Village, T/A Chikumbu, Mulanje.

The meeting brought together executives and members from both CBOs. We were also honored to be joined by GVH Tambala and GVH Kadewere.

: Strengthening collaboration and partnership between Nachikodowa and Thabwa CBOs for community development.

The Chairperson of Nachikodowa CBO commended Thabwa CBO for the great progress they have made in improving their operations. He emphasized that by improving how CBOs work, we can better empower people in our communities.

As Nachikodowa CBO, we believe there is power in collaboration. We have proposed a partnership with Thabwa CBO to work hand in hand on community development projects in the T/A Chikumbu area.

Board of Trustees from both organizations were also present, sharing ideas on how we can build stronger, more successful communities together.

' EDUCATION THROUGH MENSTRUAL HEALTH & HYGIENE 🩸📚

As we approach International Day of the Girl Child, we are proud to partner in initiatives that keep girls in school.

Today Nachikodowa CBO hosted CouldYou? Cup Malawi, led by Mr. Jones Mwalwanda, Country Director, with support from Miss Pauline Kuphote, Clinical Intern at Thyolo District Hospital (who give live demonstration and answer questions).

They presented - the CouldYou?Cup Menstrual Cup. goal: to fight period poverty and keep girls in class.

Key takeaways from the presentation:
: Menstrual cups help reduce absenteeism caused by lack of sanitary pads
: One cup can be used for up to 10 years, saving families money every month
&_Confident: Girls can go to school and do daily activities without worry.

We thank CouldYou?Cup Malawi for donating 5 cups for demonstration and training. These will help us train girls in schools, youth clubs, mothers groups, and care groups across our communities.

WITH OUR COMMUNITY LEADERS

Every strong community needs leaders who are committed to empowering their youth. Today, Nachikodowa CBO had the honor of meeting Chiefs and community members from Group Village Village Head Nyezelela, Traditional Authority Chikumbu in Mulanje District. Together we discussed 3 key issues: withdrawing young people from early marriages, encouraging school dropouts to return to school, and empowering parents to support their children's education journey.

We were joined by 10 Chiefs from Group Nyezelela including; Chief Makalaundi, Chief Mapsere, Chief Kuruwe and others. We were also blessed with the presence of almost 130 community members from different villages who came to be part of this important conversation. Their turnout shows how much the community cares about the future of our children.

At Nachikodowa CBO, we believe that when we engage parents, community leaders, and members together, we build a stronger foundation for our youth. Education and protection go hand in hand. Because a community that raises a child, raises a nation.

We thank all the Chiefs and community members for their dedication and commitment to building the future of youth in Mulanje. Let us keep working together to ensure no child is left behind.

WITH OUR SECONDARY SCHOOL SELECTEES!

Today was a great day at Nachikodowa CBO, We hosted 16 bright learners, boys and girls aged 13-16, from different villages and primary schools within our catchment area. These amazing students have just been selected to various secondary schools. The majority were selected to Dzenje Secondary School, 2 learners to Chinkhwaza Secondary School, and we are especially proud of 1 outstanding student, a 14-year-old boy who was selected to Robert Rose Secondary School in Mzimba. Congratulations to all of them!

The main purpose of the Peer Talk was to encourage them on their educational journey, empower them, and share important health information for teenagers. The session was facilitated by our , Lebohang Chagomelana, who also acted as a Role Model to the female pupils. Together we discussed key topics including; career guidance, the dangers of early child marriages, and teenage pregnancies. The learners participated actively and by the end of the session they felt guided, motivated, and ready for the next chapter.

As Nachikodowa CBO, we believe in the future of the youths in our community. Education is the foundation, and we are committed to walking with these learners every step of the way. The journey has just begun 👣

Parents, Chiefs, and Community Members: Let’s keep our children in school and protect them from early marriages. The future of Mulanje starts with educated youth. !
